Anyway, if I haven't already said it, the screenies are amazing, pat on the back to the Sins art guys! With the site updated and the beta on the way ( ) things are lookin' good for me...I mean...us.

Thanks for the advice I'll bear it in mind! Maya actually has a pretty good modeller attached so I'll tinker with that for a bit.
I have Google Sketchup as well as Maya, which has laid a pretty good foundation, I know all the basics etc etc, can't wait 'til I start!
This looks like the developmental ancestor of the ships in the shot, (this is definitely Advent) , both the triangular bow and the dual rear engines are extremely reminiscent of the ships in the shot. Even if it doesn't entirely resemble the ships in question, the design trademarks (the bow, the engines and the protrudy thingys) are all present.
I've signed up for a modelling (no not that type of modelling) and animation course at college next year, though not specifically game related, it's a start, games need animations!
seaQuest was a good show! Ok, to each his own I guess, I liked it when it was a serious drama, but then it went all "Sea Trek" There are small triangle lik ships near the planet if you zoom in. Yeah I don't know what they're supposed to be, ships, stations, space elevators, planetary defence grid? Devs when will you learn, any batch of screenshots is bound to be followed by endless fanboy discussion an
At the very bottom of the first photo there is a Vasari ship (its the one that looks like the seaQuest for those unlucky enough to have seen that show). Now that I look at it there are one or two Vasari ships there. They serve to highlight the difference between them and the Advent ones. Vasari ships are a much darker blue, almost if not completely black, whereas the lighter blue ones would the the Advent (I still highly doubt that they are TEC). EDIT: On high res you can make out a TEC
for instance in the first photo, that looks like a bit of EVERY race, and yet doesnt fit into any of them. I think those are definitely Advent, they don't look "scarab" enough to be Vasari nor industrial enough for the TEC, but they DO have something of a sheen to them and the fore sections of the triangular ships are reminiscent of the "Halcyon carrier" mentioned in their ships section (which still hasn't been updated btw <img src="http://images.stard
Maybe the carrier should be refueled periodically, and its overall fuel in storage counts towards its fighters (when the fuel in storage reaches critical fighters are grounded until more is delivered/produced)
Wow incredible. Loving those Advent ships, I don't think I've seen them very much in any recent screenshots. Now...if this were a video...
Happened to me once, it really depends on the economic state of the planet and owning empire before you conquered, therefore if the previous empire couldn't build anything, it will be carried over for you, weird I know, if you have any factories pending just buy them...that should jump start building. If that doesn't work and your playing DA, build a power station as well.
I started playing last night at around 6pm. I just finished and it's 9am here Oh my god! When do you SLEEP!? Yes, DA is fantastic, was there ever any doubt it wouldn't be? Congratulations SD! Well worth $29.95 (although in GBP its only £15.00 so...hehe, still, worth every penny)
I must say that that the game look pretty amazing... Thus highlighting the need for a gameplay vid or trailer >pleads<
No, just that if a ship with multiple weapons destroys one target without firing them all, it can fire the rest on another (and another, and another, until all it's weapons have been fired). So capital ships can now cut through fighter swarms with ease, rather than picking them off one per round. Ok cool! Thanks!
Ok...first things first....WOOT!!!! I am gonna get this! >dances on desk Battles take place on a per weapon basis Does that mean that the position of weapons on ships matters (a weapon will be unable to fire if there is something in the way) y'know, a firing arc...I have no feelings either way merely curious. Great job guys!
You will see non-canned damage effects Ooh, procedurally generated? Huh, natty new quote thingy, don't say we don't notice.
It works fine in a TBS (GCII) where battles are calculated with hitpoints and statistics (you can stick a weapon anywhere on a ship and it contributes towards the ships total attack, rather than being an independent weapon). But in an RTS, where firing arcs on ships have to be taken into account (weapons do function independently) ship designing becomes too complicated to both implement and use.
Yeah it's an indie film so it is very hard to come by at the cinema, its not on general release, it is more of a "screening" type film, showing at special events or in big screen theatres. Fortunately MGM have signed a distribution contract so they'll be publishing the DVD's, hopefully we won't have to wait long.
Trailer Features most of the Stargate Atlantis cast (or at least people who have appeared in Stargate), written by David Hewlett.
I always thougt that the old starbases were too smooth and blank to represent the massive structures they're supposed to be. So..er...w00t
im from uk..stop torturing us Yeah! What did we ever do to you....wait...don't answer that.
Hilarious and true, I have had experience with Macs and it is exactly like that.
Yay! Simmons owns a Mac lol.
ow ninja that was harsh Meh, no denying it, just extract pride from the fact that we invented RADAR. Acutally it was more like a third Somewhere between a third and a quarter AFAIK <b
>whimper< Are they forgetting they used to be part of the British Empire?
