What like tier 1, 2, 3 and X from SupCom, I hope not. From the official interview: Each race gets one unique tree, and there's a special one I can't say much about at this point. I'm gonna stick with the "fourth race that the Vasari are running from" theory. I'm not saying the fourth race could be playable, or that it could even be a race, maybe an entity or something, and the fourth tech tree could be related to fighting it.<b
Mighty Mongoose
(ala Battlestar Galactica). Yeah, I've always liked the old ramshackle style of ships, when you can look at a civilization and say "yes, that could be us in 1000 years" is when I'm hooked, I like it when the ships seem realistic. I also like the Vasari, very Shadow (Babylon 5) style. Think Stargates Asgard gone bad. Just noticed this: Finally, while it doesn't really affect gameplay, we also
We still don't know what it is that attacked the Vasari, y'know, the thing they are running from...possibly the tech tree is related to that somehow.
I also said recently this game is a lot like Supcom, I swallow my words now. In Supcom there's not any real difference in gameplay (aside from fiddling with different experimental units) between factions. I liked the comment about the Advent taking over an entire planet with out firing a single shot.... the idea of a hit and run strategy being a centerpiece of vasari strategy is interesting I think I'l
Ratchet and Clank is awesome, shame I don't own a PSP
It would be nice to be able to set up a blockade, a defensive line to screen enemy ships. As far as physical formations go, I would like to be able to set up everything from pincer attacks through flanking maneuvres to all out charges. There could also be a "Disperse" option, which would cause your ships to spread out, making it more difficult for their fleet to stay together and/or destroy groups of your ships with a BFB (big f*****g bomb). There could also be a "Disperse enemy" option
I really like the explanation of the three races, ie one doesn't have a massive advantage over the other two, there is no such thing as the generic all round race. Sure the TEC can build lots of ships but they're rather primitive The Vasari's technology makes warp drive look like fire but they can't build too many ships The Advent have godlike mental powers but their ships are weak. To me this ensures that playing as a different race ensures a different gaming
...there are no words...
Uh-oh I smell political debate. Nah let's not hijack the thread, since I happen to agree with you anyway.
am guessing the whole sci-fi war thing is what turns them off It's a weird thing with sci-fi, it seems to be going into a bit of a recession in America, with SG-1 and Enterprise being canned, BSG's ratings dipping (now going up again, phew) Lost's ratings dropping etc etc while it seems to be entering sort of a renaissance in the UK, with the return of Doctor Who after 16 years, it is fashionable again, and all other networks are starting their own home
Yeah the campaign isn't too crucial, but I was thinking with the amount of lore they've established that there would be a story in the game. I'm a sucker for a good yarn.
* so I think it attracts the really skilled girls, which is why we get dominated Don't let them distract you with their feminine wiles! We seem to be presenting a very one sided point of view...girls are to be feared, what are we, nerds*? Remember, the bigger they are the harder they fall, in a male vs female game of Capture the flag in Halo 2, we came out on top (barely(I take all the credit <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/
So, what's happening with the campaign? Is it just from the TEC Point of view (making the Vasari and Advent the "bad guys") or is there one for all three races. How long can we expect it to be? I apologise if this has all been done before but I haven't found information on it anywhere else so please humour me.
Players set how many solar systems, planets, etc. there are in the system, or you can go with pre-set defaults >sniff< I'm so happy
I know several girls (wow, its weird putting them in a category like that, like they're a separate group) who play RTS's but none of them are sci-fi strategies, mostly bog standard WW2 era stuff though. Funny story, I was horribly killed playing Halo 2 the other day, seriously, a cracking shot straight through a crowded room got me right in the temple, perfect headshot, ultimate skill, and over the intercom came a female voice...dammit...does this make them better gamers than us*? <
the United States-Peoples Republic of China coalition Forgive me wandering off topic but is that a reference to the Anglo-Sino Alliance from Firefly?
I agree with you as well, if Sins wants to be realistic (as realistic as a galaxy hopping space strategy game with mind controllers, ancient races and Phase Drives can be) we should be able to fortify our worlds and resources, minefields, unmanned sentry guns etc etc. What could make it more interesting is the concept of cargo depots. If a mine is too far from allied space it should have a cargo depot assigned to it which is basically a region of space where crates of (whatever the hell
King of most >cough There's no arguing with that, with America's economic and industrial capacity no country in the world can compare, however if the EU gets its butt in gear (not likely, all the member countries hate each other, true story) the combined industrial and economic power would outstrip that of the US (by pure mathematical addition). Hm, I guess I don't have a general point, only to say that the "King of most" phrase isn't likely to
All the logistics curves can be tweaked during beta I hope so, this sort of thing will be fundamental to any strategy game, if you're running low on resources it will spur you on to attack a neighbour who has the oil...I mean...resources, you need. But your fleet may not be powerful enough to do this, so the game can be debalanced (with you being wiped out) This is what is wrong with SupCom, now I love SupCom but you've gotta be kinda careful w
I would have thought they'd post the actual screenshots we sent them You mean...there are other shots...are they new...where are they, HAND EM OVER!
We have a NON BELIEVER!!
Nope, this is the official site, and these are the new forums, the old forums were replaced (along with most of the content). Welcome back anywho!
EDIT: That is, real friendly like Whoa, double post WTF?
The new models are 100% better Really that#s nice HAND 'EM OVER!
I quite enjoy having limited control, a la Age of Empires, where you just send off some villagers/ships to harvest a resource and they happily harvest away until its gone. That's it though, if stuff needs to be upgraded it should upgrade unless I specify otherwise.
