Hello... I tried to burn GalCiv on a CD but it missed. Is it the CD, is it the way I did it? No idea, I'm not used to burn CDs. So what should I burn on a CD? Anything special I should do? How can I incorporate all the latest patches with it: by burning them separately or already installed? Do I just take the GalCiv folder and burn it? Thx for your help on a burning newbie :p

I've read rapidly this review from Avault but I think that simply seeing "AI is cheating" and "AI is producing many improvements/turn" is enough to demonstrate to any newcomer that the review is INCREDIBLY superficial and/or flawed. Not even a need to look at all the secundary arguments, it is showing alot when this is said about GalCiv. So anyone answering that the review is ok should simply be answered "Forgetting all the secundary arguments, these two factors show how it is superfici

There is a limited market in any place. Once you've used all the trading potential, nothing else is left for another trade route... A trade route in my mind is all the trading made between two planets, some kind of bilateral agreement of free exchange with all the organization it demands.

I would propose that any loss would result in a zero or very low score. Guess it'd be the best way to get every game reported. When I say "very low score", I mean something making so that people will report it since it doesn't cost anything anyway to get a few points, but it wont affect the score globally.

I propose a poll about this question and here would be my vote: (B) Divide among ?active? projects. Let these ?unused? resources be allocated across the other (active) projects. In the example above, the effective ratios would be 45% military, 55% tech. Perhaps with a 10% ?cross platform penalty?. Why? Because this is where the player intended it to go. But I don't see the use of the cross platform penalty.

This is silly!!! I asked the yors to sell me ALL their military stuff and transports and they accepted!!! I invaded them with THEIR TRANSPORTS FULL OF THEIR OWN TROOPS. Yors attacked yors under my orders. I killed 4/5 of the yors in a SINGLE TURN like this while I was a tiny bit stronger :(

I played on normal and I feel aliens still are getting hacked too much when exchanging techs. It could be easier on the rest, but this is unbalanced considering that they are more cunning on the rest. They'll be hard, until you get a tech lead they're dead. Tech exchange isn't THAT important in real politics/history.

Maybe it would have made GameSpy review even better: to get to a tech tree by clicking on a technology, with the description of the technology (effects, not just roleplay stuff) near techtree with the tech you pointed out highlighted. the tech tree should be somewhere ingame. Thx!

There's one thing GalCiv could have been different on: graphics j/k The society could be more customizable: - political/economical system - level of repression - strength of people/corporations/ecclesiasts/government (the more power to government, the more to the player). If these things were included in some way, it could do alot. Maybe taking a look at Alpha Centauri, some ideas could be interesting... (like the society panel it had)

And one more thing... I didn't tryed it yet, but it would be fairly easy to come with something like 3 or 4 constructors and a few good ships. In ONE month, without any response from the other, you have a pretty serious outpost... I do not believe in reality someone could come with 4-5-6-more(!) of these and build all in a month, without other responding. Cheezy? There could be a limit of constructors/month, the other just adding over and waiting to be used.

Reposting what I had suggested and a new suggestion (3rd one): 1- I thought you could send a package of coke for emergency anti-GalCiv-addiction but it's illegal... This is why I though that adding a timer could be appreciated (MOO3 got the idea from Apolyton in the last weeks). Maybe this timer should also have a "bell" that would "ring" at a given hour you programmed to say you "A benevolent Torian will close your GalCiv session automatically just after you finish this turn, s
