But the ships are a mobile extension of that network - added in by necessity due to the Vasari advance.

Right you are, Ryat, the line of text got lost between the images :-P
IMO, the only thing scouts should rightly counter is Fog of War and Mines. It's never even struck my mind to use them in a combat role that doesn't involve mine-sweeping. Why the hell is a scout countering LRF when they are in theory sporting less armor and firepower than a regular Frigate? Something is wrong here.
Instead of limiting starbases in solar grav wells, I suggest just fully enabling the AI (in the code, not in our options panel). As it stands, the AI never builds super weapons, and never seems to use the "ultimate" abilities of Star Bases. I have never seen the AI use the Advent's meteor swarm ability on their star base... or the TEC big red button - and the Orkulus? Sheesh, the AI only seems to use half of it's upgrades. For that matter, it seems the AI only rarely uses the
Somehow I don't think the Vasari would have ever had females... I always sort of thought they reproduced asexually... probably consciously directing which traits to pass on to their young in the process somehow. Which could explain why cloning is such a successful tactic for them. It could also highly reinforce their apparently feudal nature... especially if they could choose to generate offspring that had certain traits, ie: docile servants, fighters, sterile drone types, etc. Vasari
or Trader Nautical Defense Network.
Nah, nautical implies oceans are involved. For that matter, so does navy.
Hhhm, I've never seen those orangey sky boxes before... is that a mod, or is that the "new" one released with this last patch? (Ue's close Hoshinko and the fleet pic a couple shots down from it).
This would indeed be sick. I hope you either are, or know a good artist to make the art for it ^_^. I think they tried to put a dyson sphere or something like one in the end of the game Freelancer, it was pretty cool... Although it was extremely disorienting flying around seeing nothing but structure and trying to find the one little pinhole that leads out.
P impster just ended this run-on thread. Karma!
"Such mighty contests arise from such trivial things." - some pope or the other. ^---- pretty much sums up this thread at this point. Trader Defense Network. -Itharus
Don't get me wrong, I'm down with mods, I just think they should have their own thread :). I'll try to post a few screenies here... hopefully I can get it to work. My screenshots wont look as nice as some that have already been posted, because my machine is from 2004 - although I still think they look quite nice, which speaks volumes about the game engine! ...think I have it working this time around, only took about 8 attempts... lol. <img style="vertical-align: baseline;" src
Niiiiiiice... Those are some prime shots, Numerarius! I wonder if IC would enjoy a thread that was a screenshot contest (stock Sins/Entrenchment, NO mods (they couldn't use the modded screenies for official stuff))... maybe get some new images for their front page. Anyone know a good site for picture hosting that's free? Or are the forums themselves willing to host them? If this has already been done, cool. -Itharus
Officially the best dev team today, yesterday and most probably tomorrow too... (if they don't exchange their souls and passion for some stinky mega $$$)
You mean, if they don't Blizzard out? MjrK: You won't be disappointed! Entrenchment has added to SoaSE by leaps and bounds! Also, the next micro-expansion, Diplomacy, I am pretty sure requires Entrenchment to play. If you play Vasari, you should know the Kostura Cannon gets a HUGE bonus in Ent
I'm a passionate person, what can I say... [e digicons]O:)[/e]
I think that's a bit of a large assumption, eon. Planets don't typically just get lost or destroyed. Turned into industrial wasteland and abandoned, sure... but I'm sure they'd remember where it was (it'd make a good site for dumping further waste on :-P).
Marauders can use their own stabilization now????????????????????????? Tell me you aren't fracking teasing?!?!??!
Double post due to Firefox being retarded. But hey, it beats Internet Explorer in the Special Olympics.
LOL, I'm taking a German class atm, and now I have something to translate... SOASE - fun AND educational... :-P
What is it you have against nerds, Erictred1? Nerds made this game for you. Be nice to them.
Wow, it's not often you see a dev come out and personally lend a hand like that. Bravo! Thanks for helping these guys Blair. Customer interaction like that is what breeds true loyalty to a company. -Itharus
Vasari do genetic modification en masse... They don't terraform worlds, they change the population. They take normal humans (and I'm sure other species in other parts of space) and modify them to be able to withstand extreme heat, breathe toxic fumes, have layers of insulating blubber to withstand the cold, etc... Which really, when you think about it, is about as insulting as you can get to a species, to go inside of them and change their genetic makeup... The Vasari also make widesp
You guys want to completely freaking homogenize the game!!! There's no point in having factions if you can trade techs. It's just freaking stupid.
Because these guys are merchants. They'd apply coroporate thinking to their defense plans. Instead of having a big navy, they'd have a gestalt defense network... very organized and beauracratic, everything assigned by dollar priority and blah blah blah... Which would explain why so many worlds have no TEC presence. They aren't worth properly defending, unless they totally submit to the authority of one of the major players within the TEC (ie: Haliburt--- ahem, Tondam Corporati
Wouldn't that explain it then? Mitigation goes up the more damage you receive, right? If the advent is doing the dmg over time, it's coming in smaller increments, so wouldn't the mitigation increase on the target be smaller? Where as the Vasari chunk hits hard all at once, and so is subjected to a higher mitigation... no?
Mmmm, chemistry. Volt: So what you're saying, is that they either need a little machine to make our atmosphere heavier (provide a compressed air pocket) for them, or a little machine to spike the mix w/ some chemicals to make it enriched, right? Weird question, we're operating on the assumption Vasari do have some means of drawing in atmosphere right (lungs)? A more passive system like gills doesn't seem very useful for anything that's land-based. If we're goi
