1.) You cannot scare Chuck Norris, for Chuck Norris is Fear incarnate. 2.) March 22nd 2008 and still going strong... *singing* This is the thread that never ends... it goes on and on my friends!!!.... *walks away alternatively cackling like a madman and singing* -Itharus

That's always what I thought too, Kitkun.
Heeeeeeeyyyyyyyyy.......... wtf, I was tricked! When I clicked this link I was made to believe that this thread had something about roleplayed MP matches in it [e digicons]>:([/e] .
This is actually one of the better ideas I've seen posted. [e digicons]k1[/e] to wbino.
Quoting -Ue_Carbon, reply 5Eh, IMHO. It already has one. It has serveral. All you gotta to do is RP a bit yourself. i love doing that... one of the reasons i'd love to play online but dont is because people play to win, not to make a story out of it...
Start a thread looking for people who want to seriously RP out an epic SOASE match over the course of many sessions over an indeterminate length of tim
Yeah, the shift-zoom thing is golden. Also, enable camera twist for some truly wonderful views. Lastly... for the love of god, PAUSE, play with the angles til your heart's content and you can capture some down right glorious stills of this game!!!! I've got a pretty sick screenshot gallery going on of SOASE. Alas, no one sees them and they just sit there rotting away in a folder.
with_an_e, for some reason that just triggered the most random ass thought in my head. Why is it that phase missiles travel so slowly to their target? They are PHASE missiles, they enter phase space and pop out just before hitting the target without bothering to deccelerate, right? But the dang things move soooooo slowly in-game. Which leads me to ask this: Is the damage applied the moment the phase missile fires? Or does it take travel time into account and apply the damage w
52500 : Your idea sounds like "hotseat" cooperative play. That's fine, I think it should be an option to enable or disable when you start the online match (if implemented). Although it should be limited in application, it should be like having an absolute attack/defend ping that MUST be responded to by whatever ships your ally makes available to you - and that should be limited to frigate/cruiser only, imo. A multiplayer option, but not a researched Diplomacy tech. You
Shhhhhhhhhhh........ don't speak about it! I don't want to see my beloved Vasari Capships nerfed for suddenly being viable!
I know, Allegiance, that's why I said around half of the pictures :-P Also, I think my wording was bad when I said breathing apparatus, what you guys have drawn from it isn't what I was thinking at the time - I didn't mean a space suit kind of thing. I meant something more akin to what a pilot wears when flying high and fast, or a little mask that fits over the nose/mouth and gives you air when you go scuba diving. I am presuming Vasari breathe some pretty heavy atmos
It would also explain the somewhat elaborate 'jewelry' pieces that seem to attach to the back of their heads (those looped metalic things on half of the pictures)... might be a breathing apparatus to boot or something.
This idea is terrible for any sense of balance and would frankly destroy the game. We'd be left with a steaming pile of shit instead of SOASE. There's no need to gain access to any other race's ships. It makes no sense on any level. Allied fleets flying to assist you, however, does. And that is already in the game. /thread
Try packs of Marauders. Seriously... and get "deeeviousss!" with them.
... ... ,,|,,
Ahahahhahahha love you too Pbhead :-P PS: Watch out for those glowing space witches, they're out to get you!
Ryat has it spot on, imo... vocal cords are vocal cords. The mouth is just a resonance chamber and the tongue, etc, helps us adjust tone, Vasari could easily have an organ that accomplishes the same and allows them speech as we know it. -Itharus
TBH, I'm just hoping that Dimplomacy will allow me to play SP without being forced to lock teams. If I have 5 opponents who are friendly with me suddenly backstab me, I'd prefer it to be caused by something I did or by some backroom plot rather than the fact that the AI always double teams the top player in the match even while hating eachother just as much.
The technologies are vastly different. No one could use the Advent tech other than the advent - it's psionically operated. Vasari tech is nanoteched out, for all we know operating Vasari tech requires a nano interface within the user that's incompatible with non Vasari minds (what better way to keep slaves from rebelling?). TEC... well, ok, their shit could be used by just about anyone, but who'd want it? :-P Plus I just dont see technology sharing between race
Once the Kostura round hits the target, you can jump to that world from any other stabilized phase node. You get those nodes this way: 1.) Your fleet is at a friendly grav-well with a Phase Stabilizer building - they can jump to the Kostura hit world. 2.) You have a level 6 Marauder that is using the Stabilize Phase Space ability - your fleet (excluding the Marauder) can jump to the Kostura hit world. 3.) You might possibly be able to jump from a Starbase that's stabil
Actually, I've always thought that the way mitigation works sounds far more realistic than having a big impenetrable energy bubble blocking physical objects. It's quite possible to run a charge through the hull of a ship (or any material), we do it now. It can help shield from certain types of radiation/other charges. It's kinda like polarizing a thing. Shield Mitigation as we know it is just some charge they've discovered that they can tweak the harmonics of to essentially reorganize
The replicate forces thing is really only useful for making additional siege platforms (and that really DOES make it so much faster)... Generally if you're at the point where 3 overseers or subverters is a big difference, it's time to turn tail and gtf outta dodge. Also, replicating a few more carriers inside of an enemy grav well (the duration is too low to bother doing it in advance), is of limited use due to the time the squadrons take to form. Even with all of that in mind, the bi
Just trying to help... if it came across wrong, it wasn't my intent.
Are you guys testing with stock ships, or with some upgrades? Maybe Assailants just suck w/o the phase-missile upgrades... could be design. Are you adjusting for who gets the first shot? Is rate of fire equal? What about the side beams, does the AI utilize them at all (to fire between forward beam recharges)? Are you testing in game or just going by statistics from a file (maybe stats don't tell the whole formula)? Maybe there's a bug in the code that determines how dmg is applied? So
The Starbase phase gates are massively bugged anyway... they only work in one damned direction (I forget at the moment whether or not it is coming to or going from (I think it's coming to)). And if that's not a bug... shame on you, IC! Cuz g'damnit for a gate not to flow both ways makes little sense (other than from a kostura, as that's more like riding the phase-wake of the shell into the system, so it's ok - although if it just lasted 10-15 more seconds it'd be PERFECT). For that ma
Have you factored in passive regeneration rates on the shields/hull?
If you don't play the Vasari, now, they will abduct you, geneticially modify you, and leave you sitting on Venus breathing in normally toxic fumes all day long for the next several thousand years until the nano-matrix they placed in your blood stream finally breaks down and ceases to keep repairing the gigantic hole in your head where humans normally have a brain, but which was somehow forgotten in your case. If you are not one of us, you will serve us, or you will serve as an example
