Yeah... so apparently all this time the problem was that I was using the browser back button after logging in instead of clicking the big red "Home" button to reach the main SOASE page... and so it wasn't recognizing that I was actually logged in. Ahem... problem solved. [e digicons][/e] GO GO ORKULUS!

To me, it seems that RA only really comes into it's own on multi-star maps where you have several battlefronts that you can't adequately defend (too much fleet splitting). It lets you, in a pinch, summon a fleet into some random star system of yours thats under attack and has inadequate defense or is unreachable by one of your main fleets due to bottle-necking (starbase infested stars anyone?). And it's almost entirely useless in singleplayer (the AI is too stupid to ever force you to
Replicate forces also works on Siege Platforms, which is bad news for the victim world. [e digicons]*_*[/e]
Haha... I've never tried that one, nice! It will be even harder hitting when the next patch comes! The Kol/Dunov gauss cannon machine is a bit frightening next patch! Vasari players may find themselves having to build more Marauders for crowd control! It's a pity the Marauder didn't get a bit more combat oriented love... it hits like a little girl.
Nah... I've never voted in that poll. Oh well.
Maybe the information needs to be more specific? Also, scouts are already DIRT cheap... paying for this information would be priced... how? I do like this idea, I just don't see how it could be well implemented - namely due to the research options the Vasari (phase lane) Advent (culture) and TEC (probes) get when it comes to gathering information. I think that blanketly updating all information about a grav well via purchasing from the black market is wrong. What's neede
It's not a trolling, it's an observation. Trolling would be: " God, you guys are such lame arse nerds! Who cares about this sort of crap! I just like the pretty explosions in game!!!!111````! ". See the difference? I actually support this thread as a whole [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] . You're just mad that I didn't name you along with Allegiance86 and Volt (incase you haven't figured it out, everything after the smiley and up to the parenthesis was trolling). As
There's a favorite starbase poll on the main page of the SOASE website. Where's the link to vote in that bad boy?
They need to drastically up the amount of credits/resources gained/lost for killing/losing trade/refinery vessels imo, so that it has more effect in the game. *tries to think of a way to include more slashes*... Damn... -Itharus WAIT! There we go. /Itharus
ICO could certainly use an auto-match system. Perferably one that would penalize people for dropping... sort of like the AFK/Exit penalty in WoW (yes, I said the name of the Beast) - where you are disallowed from queuing for 15 minutes if you drop out of a battleground. -Itharus
Allegiance86/Volt_Cruelerz/Etc: Awesome thread! Wonderful ideas! I wish that the IC fellows could come out and play in here and tell us how close you are to being correct! And great job to almost everyone else in here discussing the Vasari, it's making for an interesting read. It is however, a shame that C.I. is in here stinking up your thread with anime-style spirit-slop and bad arguments. It feels like his questions/comments are an attempt to get free peer tutoring in authorship, an
Whippersnapper-DirtySanchez.... you have CenturionJixra's avatar. It's a strange thing to copy the avatar of an outspoken and frequently posting forum member. NM, ignorance has been alleviated, thanks Carbon.
Tbh, I only skimmed it, as it didn't hold my attention very well. But kudos for posting it! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only nerd that imagines his games are actually epic war stories and what not while he plays. Try editing and polishing it up a bit - then repost the final draft in the General forum, as it has promise. [e digicons]k1[/e] -Itharus
The truly sad thing is that pretty much all Vasari ships are supposed to be the most potent pound for pound over any other ship (hence the higher supply and resource costs)... yet they typically get trounced. So much for having smaller more elite fleets of ancient badass tyrannical aliens [e digicons]>:([/e] . -Itharus
No one mentioned it, so... In terms of placing Trade Ports, yes, it does very slightly matter. You'll want to place them as near to the edge of the gravwell as you can, that's in the direction of the trade lane the tradeships will be traveling along. Why? So that your tradeships will have the shortest turn around possible. While the turn around doesn't affect how much money you will generate at your trade port - it does keep your trade ships in phase-space... where they cannot
Honestly, I think the fleet supply used per ship needs to be looked at and rebalanced. I think that it would solve quite a few problems (especially for the TEC and Vasari). However, at the time of this writing there is a massive patch due next week that's rebalancing quite a bit - let's see how it goes! -Itharus
I'd like to suggest a simple thing that I doubt anyone could really have a reason to disagree with; the expansion of the character limit when renaming planets, starbases, and capital ships. In the game's current state, we're currently restricted to small names. This is especially so for people who prefer to use ship prefixes for their capitals, such as CSS or UMS and so forth. An example that comes to mind is that "USS Gravestone"
This is a really cool fluff idea, but I think it would sort of invalidate scouting... as well as devalue the phase space monitoring abilities the Vasari get, and finally, relegate the scout ships to being nothing more than mine-sweepers. In short, I think this (while cool seeming) would be detrimental to the gameplay. -Itharus
I'm a Vasari player,, and I like my mobile bases, but I think that it's too great an advantage for the other factions to not have a taste of.
You are a liar, sir. As is every single poster that talks about giving starbase mobility to the other races, whilst claiming they are Vasari players. You are a wolf in sheep's clothing! A no-good TEC or Advent saboteur! There are other capabilities the ot
Nice job, IC. I'm glad you guys are still working on things, for a while there I thought that maybe SoaSE was pretty much dead, then bang - Diplomacy announced and a new patch announced for SoaSE/Entrenchment shortly after that! It's a shame that there won't be that third micro expansion with the big suprise though :( Keep up the good work! -Itharus
"but if you have built 150 scouts you just spent 30,000 creds so it should be able to take out a building SB." -Top Vasari. Why? If I spend $30,000 building AK-47's and ammo... they wont be able to destroy a hardened bunker. Not everything is cost effective against everything else... nor should it be, when you have things that are proper counters.
I agree that it's probably his RAM. However I used to have only 1 gig of RAM, and was fine. Now I have 2 gigs, and it's better. He should be fine if his RAM is operating normally... http://www.memtest86.com/ Your RAM might be faulty, this was recently a problem for me that caused issues like you are receiving, in another game. -Itharus EDIT: You might also try uninstalling, running a defrag, and reinstalling the game - it's possible you have file corruption.</p
I gotta disagree with your hate on the Vas Starbase... it really needs the fast build time in an enemy system. It's really all we've got to take out a well defended system, and it is a BITCH to actually get that thing up and running. As it stands, the upgrades still take the full length of time to achieve... which gives the defender plenty of time to destroy a relatively weak Star Base that just sprung up in his well. Chances are, your star base incursion will fail miserably unless yo
The Kostura shot does not freeze your own fleet, Deceiver. I use the things to support my battles frequently, and I assure you - it's just the enemy that's affected. If it did freeze your own fleet, it would be 95% useless. Also, if the thing emits some sort of energy, perhaps the Vasari simply polarize their shields to the right frequency (or chain thereof if the energy has an oscillating pattern) to block it. We know this sort of tech exists because the TEC have prototype shields on
The dynamism comes with the response to such behavior. Better use of formations, maneuvering, setting up blocks to enemy advances, and in general... having the fleet do more than sit in one spot holding still and firing. You'd have to think and react more... you'd be more engaged. And yes, you could script the closing behavior, I infact, think that it would be necessary. Not to mention it would make the Z Axis an even more beautiful thing (although they'd have to adjust how range is c
