@ Screenshot: ...wow. Edit: I don't really have a set time, but if I had to peg one, I'd say most commonly on the weekends, probably late afternoon-ish pacific time. Edit 2: I play Entrenchment 99.98% of the time, so I probably won't be on the vanilla ICO much.

I'll try to float around more publicly on ICO, and see if I can't find a few matches at some point. As I have no reputation on ICO yet, I've made a fresh profile for public games, you can catch me from time to time as: DuneRunner 10 points if you can catch the reference in that name! I don't quite qualify as a noob, but neither am I hardcore nor anywhere near pro. Honestly, I'm rather average. I do not spam, I do not rush, I do not flavor of the month; and I pl
And that's what's really killing SOASE multiplayer, not the game, not the game balance. But to be honest, I'm part of that inner circle group, so I have no room to talk. The reason? The people I know are willing to play long epic games across multiple sessions (the save feature is awesome... even if it doesn't actually save at exactly the spot you tell it to every time), and there's not ultra-competitive little dumbass kiddies involved who throw the flavor of the month single unit spa
I tried just that last night. There were 71 players. 4 in the lobby, one of which was me, and no one responded when I said hello. There were also only 2 games open: a comp stop and a "no noobs". I cried a little inside.
I can accept that point Cykur. I think that there is room for argument, but I give you this victory :-P.
I hope that some day they actually give us dimensions on their vessels... because I know this game is not to scale in any way shape or form. I mean really, the Jarrasul would have to be several times the size of a Kol, lol... of course then it'd have several times the hitpoints, you'd think... and that would be imba as hell in game :-P.
Goooooozzzfrahbah. Anger is bad. Go to your happy place.
Well... the human-based carriers have large banks of lasers for ship to ship combat, among other anti-ship weapons... and on top of that, strike craft in SOASE are probably quite a lot larger than our own fighters (think about all the extra equipment you'd need to cram into a spaceborne fighter). The Vasari carrier cap has weapons too, and huge banks of nanites and probably stacks of random elements laying around ready to be assembled into something. Oh, and the TEC carrier has missile sateli
'P.S. the Nimitz has a lot more aircraft on board than a SINS carrier cruiser.' Probably because there are NO aircraft on board SINS carrier cruisers.
Zing!
God, the Illums have a benefitial bug now? /Sigh, what is it?
A bear will very handily break 3-4 wolves apart. I've seen it. Awesome video. A skirmisher... not so much. Hell, it's not even the alpha wolf let alone a bear. Edit: No one is repurposing the LF's, they are complaining about the LF's (skirmisher's, actually) capability to perform it's intended role.
HUD off and twist enabled for the most fantastic screenshots ever. I think I took about 20 when I first found that feature :)
Palidos: 1.) Returning Armada does not work, it's craptastic. But enjoy if you're winning already anyway :-P Make sure that you have available fleet supply and the necessary resources to pay for your ships... sadly, they aren't free anymore. 2.) Phase missiles are the primary weapon of the Vasari. The long range frigates use them, the cap ships use them, the starbases use them, the fighters and bombers use them, the flakk frigates use them. With upgrades they have a good chanc
That's because multiplayer games are often over far faster than single player games. The Vasari strengths only really show themselves around 6 or 7 labs in both military and empire trees... a lot of multiplayer games don't even get that far. For the Vasari, the game is an uphill struggle all the way to the end of their trees before their strengths finally really play out. Not so for the TEC and Advent. Hell, I'm not even convinced the Advent even have a real "weakness". In eit
Here's something to complain about if that's the case: the decline of Major League Baseball in America starting in the early 1990's with that retarded ass strike they had. But nah, Allegiance, Skirmishers really do need something... even if it's just a tweak in the research tree that makes them upgrade a little better/faster. Although I sometimes wonder if making certain other ships/techs come easier/earlier *cough*overseers*cough*/*cough*wavecannons*cough*, or with less inves
I think mines should rapidly 'pop up' (or down) to strike ships that encroach upon their X/Y threat axis... consider it limited homing capabilities. It would solve that particular Z-Axis problem pretty handily imo. Also, ffs, let mines hurt starbases... it makes no sense to me that a big ass space-bomb can't hurt a star base... it also looks ridiculous when my Orkulus wades through about 100 homing mines to go eat a Transcensia without setting a single one off - where as my tiny little scout
Honestly, what turns me off from engaging in multiplayer outside of my own little circle of friends is not a fear of pro players... it's a fear of having to deal with pricks. The ego's of many of the multiplayer crowd are just off the freaking hook (I mean this in a general sense, not in a particular to SINS sense, and I am not pointing any fingers). While I'm sure there are plenty of decent people out there trying to play SINS online, I just don't feel like taking the risk. I'd just
You build them because as part of a late game epic scale balanced flee they are useful, and they tend to survive longer than the frigates and cruisers... really they can sort of replace the regular Frigates (everyone calls them LF and for the life of me I can't figure out wtf the L stands for). Also, the Vasari enforcers can nerf the movement speed of nearby foes... of course, that's pretty damned useless when they are already knocked out from a Subverter anyway, but hey... I'll take
The research immeadiately applies to everything it affects instantly upon completion, and yes, it is retroactive. EDIT: If you are noticing something not getting upgraded when the research completes (that should be receiving the upgrade), move the mouse, wait a moment or two, and then move the mouse back over to get a new tooltip. Sometimes the game seems to take a moment to refresh itself in that manner... it can be quite vexxing when waiting for a Phase Stabilizer to show itself as
Well, you also have to imagine that a Kol probably has something utterly ridiculous like 12 meters of molecularly engineered crystalline steel or something for armor plating. I mean look at the armor sheathe on the prow of those things (ignore the lasers sticking out, look just to the sides). That's a pretty hefty amount of metal, plus it's being enhanced by some tripped out harmonic field of some sort that's reinforcing the molecular bonds that's retuning itself to better adjust to the dmg t
I'm not criticizing; just admiring your tenacity :-P
but usually you can't put all your eggs in one grav well.
Is that a crack at my Jarrasuls? Because I beg to differ!
Battle Ball = overly-synergizing Advent abilities (cap and frig) that allow them to essentially bitch slap you while holding your ships helplessly at bay, while reinforcing and regenerating the shields of their entire fleet to a massive degree so that it takes forever to damage them (by which point you will have likely sustained heavy losses). It's beatable... but sometimes it takes a frackin' super weapon (for the Vasari). Repulse is an AOE effect right? I can't remember - I
