It knocks out the buildings for three minutes? That, I did not know. I thought the whole effect was just for a few (apparently 15) seconds across everything. Cataclysm2000, do you remember where you saw the 3 minute bit written down? I'd love to actually find a list w/ a true description and the numbers behind it. Thanks in advance, -Itharus

Sadly... I haven't ever noticed them managing to actually destroy any of the orbital buildings. As near as I can tell they do minor damage and disable everything for a few seconds. So as InfiniteVoid said... follow it with an invasion fleet. Although to be honest, you don't need to follow it at all - your own fleets are immune to the damage/disabling effect of the Kostura shot (presuming the shot was yours), so you can sometimes use it to turn the tide of an ongoing battle so long as

Hi there everyone, I've been away for a while... and I have a couple of questions: 1) Is the beta patch completed yet? Have they released 1.1? 2) Does anyone know where I can find a complete list of features of the mini-expansion? 3) How's the impulse multiplayer working for that beta? Because months later I still

Lies lies lies! Hard AI is just better AI, it's UNFAIR AI that gets more resources/money. AFAIK, Ships/Structures are always the same, it's just resource bonuses that they get on Unfair (the AI is the same as it is on Hard). Easy AI = Training wheels. Normal AI = You're on your own but an adult is still around ready and waiting with a bandage for your boo-boo if you fall. Hard AI = You're on your own, and you have a few ramps to start jumping off of. Unfa

To travel from star to star, you have to have researched the ability "Long Range Jumps" or it's equivalent name depending on culture. It's infocard description will tell you that it allows you to perform interstellar jumps. I believe all of the technologies that allow this are found within the Civilian Research tree. After researching this ability, you move your fleet to the star of the current system in which it resides. Select all of your units you wish to move, and then click on the

That is surprising. Are you 100% absolutely sure you set up the teams correctly (ie: gave your ally the same team number as you)? I am presuming the answer is yes, but I had to ask. Only thing I can think of is to send a save game file or replay file (if you don't have a well timed save) to Ironclad (or does Star Dock handle that now?). O_o -Itharus PS: I just noticed the difficulty was "Unfair" (sort of ironic), maybe it's a glitch w/ that or somethi
So does this make it a more powerful capital ship killer than the Vasari Evecuator with nanites?
Silence, dog! I will not permit this heresy to continue. The starships of the Vasari Empire are the undisputed masters of ship to ship combat! Begone! Lest we sentence you to death for being an unruly slave. Hehe, j/k... but seriously, say it ain't so? -Itharus

Truly, a really nice idea, I agree whole heartedly. Can we get a way to give names to our AI opponents too? No offense to your randomly generated names, some are quite cool. I just like more control of my sandbox :d . -Itharus

I have to admit... I have never, ever, ever, EVER seen a game go into negative income on any side, let alone two or more. And I've had some ridiculous games where I have been like one research away from the max fleet supply cap, and used every bloody point of what I had. If you lose enough planets to go negative... it's game over for you, you lost. I personally cannot see how TWO players could get to that point in the same game. I mean, wow, you'd have to basically build no planetary de

I have actually had this happen, as well. For me though, it's any Research/Black Market pages, etc. It tends to only happen during the FIRST opening of a page or tab on said page (ie: the different research tabs on the research page, or the opening of the Black Market or Diplomacy pages). Once opened, it tends to not occur for me for the rest of the game (failing that, it never lasts more than the first 10-20 minutes of a game). It's happened for me on all versions of the game

Singleplayer. Although for the record Mutliplayer is terrifically fun. Atleast it's terrifically fun when you play with people you already know. Pick Up Games suck for so many reasons that I wouldn't be able to finish the list before I passed out from exhaustion. Hhm that said... I'm gonna go post in the Multiplayer forum now.

Ahh... damn... no more dancing space whale slingshotting above or below the planet from repair station to repair station... Pity, they could have just fixed the Z-Axis acceleration to put it in line w/ other movement speeds :NOTSURE: Thanks for the confirmation, Kitkun! -Itharus

I've said it before, so I'll say it again... Fleets only really behave like a fleet when you issue orders only to the flagship. The rest of the fleet makes it's decisions based on what you just ordered the flagship to do. If you told the flagship to attack some heavy cruisers, it's gonna saunter on over and do it, meanwhile the flakk ships will go "wtf? waste of time, imo." and just follow in formation shooting at fighters/bombers as they go. Also, you have to set your engageme

I recently patched SoaSE... and... I can no longer move along the Z-Axis? I couldn't find an option to key-map the command anymore... was Z-Axis maneouvering removed? I sincerely hope not... you could pull off some really sweet formations with it :( -Itharus

3 Replies 17,438 Views

You do have formations. What you do is you set your fleet up, and then only issue commands to your flagship. All of the ships escorting the flagship will move in formation, and react intelligently (most the time) to commands you give to the Flagship. Ie: You tell the flagship to attack an enemy fleet, specifically say, it's flagship. In this case YOUR flagship which received the order will move forward and engage. It's escort ships will decide whether or not to join in, ba

Somewhat off topic: What's really sad is that in theory, flakk cannons should be BETTER against bombers than fighters. Larger, slower moving, less maneouverable targets would be hit much more than a nimble star fighter. The whole deal is sort of counter intuitive as it plays out in SoaSE.

I would just like to point out, that on an historical scale, genocide is a way of life in Asia. It always has been (not that I condone it, quite the contrary). If you stop and think about it, and assemble a list of genocides and attempted genocides in Asian countries. You will find that they happen probably every 15-30 years or so all the way back as far as recorded history goes (with a few periods of stability interspersed throughout). Eh, as long as we are talking about screw
