Try changing your download region in Steam to something in Europe/NorthAmerica? It could be the content server you're connecting to is screwy.

Are you sure you're trying to download GalCiv3 and not any of the previous games? :P Try restarting steam Try running Steam as an administrator Ensue you have enough disk space Ensure your anti-virus is not blocking the install somehow as this is a common problem.

Just an FYI The Large UI only triggers if you have a screen size larger than 1600x1200. You can check this in the UISizeDefs.xml If you try to use the Large UI thing on smaller resolutions, it looks really screwy though Also you can turn off 'borderless windowed' mode by enabling "Clip Cursor". Yes this is really counter intuitive...

God damn it, I just spent 30 minutes in the STeam Community Hub and I think my brain just melted. Jeezus the trolls are out in full force again. I also feel dirty. HOw do you get Troll Bile out of a tuxedo? On the plus side the trolls have the attention span of a gnat. They'll move on once some other game they despise comes out.

I'd say that once the game gets to beta, it would be ok to go for 'full blown Early Access'. But I do agree this 'hidden' Early Access is likely the best way to go, given that propensity for sheer idiocy on the Steam forums until that point. But so far in my toe dipping gameplay wise, the game is actually pretty playable.
