But I do agree, I have been taken aback by some of Valves actions recently regarding the steam platform. (I mean I try picturing using a controller for a game like GalCiv3/Civ5 to play it in the living room and I think it would be an undesirable experience.)
You can play Civ5 with a touchpad pretty nicely. It's really more about how the UI elements work.
According to the people on #Galciv it won't be available before 1900 UTC. Even then, I am hearing rumblings (rumors, really) that Steam typically has troubles with Alphas.
There's some kind of trouble on Steam right now with the publishing pipeline. :(
I'd throw you off a cliff, to be frank.
Others have tried https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaIuKoYYdV0 AND FAILED!
I'm worried I'll be out of cigarettes soon. This wait is making me light up new ones before the previous one is even smoked out.....
You need to mix some lead paint with it. It smooths out the flavor. :)
So have people already received the keys? I have not gotten mine so I was curious.
Log into stardock.com and check your "My Downloads" section
Not having it on Steam isn't the same as not having it on your computer. I have both, but not on Steam.
If I 'really' wanted to troll I could create a non-steam shortcut to Notepad.exe and name it GalCiv3 and post a screenshot :) And then much gnashing of teeth and mouth frothing would begin! Hell my Steam profile would say 'In-Game GalCiv3' too! I don't think there are enough pit
The depot for the game has not been made public. That's why it shows up as a SteamID sub because the official name on the Steam's public facing database hasn't been updated. Thta's also why you don't see any game entry, because the depot is not available to download for public consumption. That's something they set on the back end once they want to release the game into the wild. If you're super duper hard core you can monitor the sub on SteamDB <a

Did you know stardock has an IRC server? Join in the GalCiv3 frenzy and chat up with other like minded fans. irc.stardock.com #galciv Use an IRC client or ChatZilla which is a decent Firefox addon that allows for IRC. See you online! :)

Unfortunately, I didn't pay attention and didn't record the steam appid. However, looks like we'll be able to see when it goes live here: <a href="http://steamdb.info/
I activated my key on Steam and it didn't say "Galactic Civilizations 3" or anything like that. I'm going to assume for the moment that this is because the thing isn't technically available. But did anyone else have something like this happen?
The actual depot has not been published yet so there's nothing for you to download just yet. Once the depot is updated and published, you will be able to download it
Quoting satoru1, reply 15 .... I'm in the steam client beta but it doesnt show up there either after a restart. It's likely that the appid hasn't been published yet. If anyone has the AppID when you registered the game it would help to sneak around in the SteamDB to find out what's up The alpha hasn't been released yet.
Oh I know I'
Anyone know if it releases at midnight? I work a graveyard shift job, but have Wednesday nights (into Thursday mornings) off. I'll be asleep Thursday afternoon, and have to work Thursday evening :/ Would be nifty (as in bragging rights ) to use my nocturnalist life to have first crack among my fellow Elite founders to catch the first wave of alphabugs.
Kinda unlikely.
How are things like copyright handled? I remember in GalCiv II coming across a star named Hoth. So would Arrakis or Minbar be acceptable? Or not? Thanks
You'd have to refer to the Trademark office for that. Hoth has a few trademarks but they've expired. Arrakis/Minbar have no trademarks to speak of. But its kinda hard to say how those would work. I'd say if anything &#

If you're a journalist, you can be denied access to future betas, interviews, you can be black listed for pre-release review copies for games, etc.

Did you guys ever figure out how to filter the depots on Steam for 64-bit only?
