Frogboy did post recently about how the retail cycle worked for Elemental HOwever I've never heard anyting about GalCiv1/2 not making any money.....

I suppose a few 'broad' questions 1) How will you handle DLC vs expansions? In a broader model of should we see something like Game->DLC to fill time->Expansion1->few more DLC->Expansion2 kind of deal (yes I know on steam 'expansions' show up as DLC, but for sake of clarity I'm referring to them in the 'archaic' sense of the term) 2) What kinds of MP modes are expected to be at release? Mostly since Civ5 took 2 expansions
Also, re: Civ V, I believe it also uses an iteration of the same engine as Skyrim. I could be confusing it for Civ IV, though.
Civ5 is an engine built from the ground up for Civ5. It couldn't possibly be using the Creation Engine from Skyrim especialy given that Betehsda and 2K are bascially competitors. Civ4 used Gamebryo a once popular 3rd party game engine that was also used in Oblivion. This may be what
Of course having limits can have it's 'advantages'. I recall that for Fallen Enchantress (I think...) there was a point where there was debate as to whether the largest map type would be available due ot memory contraints for certain users. But after some hard optimization, that it was announced that said map size would be available. In that situation the hard limit of the memory forced them to do some memory optimization. Without that 'wall' would they ahve bother

Steam may have TF2 items, or the 'tiered' rewards system for pre-orders. Amazon/GMG gnereally match that in some way by orffering a free game or such. Here's the reality 1) Stardock is not going back to physical retail. The cost to do so is high, with zero benefit to them. Sins of a Solar Empire 2 has unequivoacbly shown that their need to be in retail to move even 100,000 is moot. 2) PC gaming in general is moving to digital distribution. Consdiering most stores don't bother to carry PC games at all, or if they do only 'big' things like 'concrete knee high wall grey dust simulator 2014', the retail s
So will there be an NDA on say Youtube videos? I have a Youtube chanel and I plan to share this game with my viewers in a form of Let's play.
Hi, I am hoping for clarification whether a Surface 2 RT will be able to play Galactic Civilizations III. Clearly, the system specs alone can, but whether the operating system will be supported is my main question. I will only have the Surface 2 RT for the next few years while I am abroad, so I am really hoping. Hope Brad is listening, and if it is not supported, I am curious from the technical standpoint for why. <br /
Just a bit of a random poll concerning RAM limits. Would you prefer 1) Soft limit. Game will run no matter how much memory you have. But will begin to beg for mercy on turn 100 of your immense map run 2) Hard limit. Game detects your RAM. Below a certain amount, it says BZZZZZT get more RAM! (note this is causing some pretty insane cognitive dissdance with the COD:Ghosts people, and I use 'people' rather loosely for some of them) 3) Soft serve ice cream limit.
Quoting Omsad, reply 14Is the aspiration to make galciv3 scale to the amount of memory the computer it's running on. For example if I have 16gbs I'll be able to run a game "x" large but if I have 64gbs I'll be able to run a game four times larger than "X"? I hope that they don't go too big as the most I will have is 32gb's as I'm not spending more than 2k on my new system but I'm sure looking forw

Point of fact no matter how strong your hardware there always comes the day when you are running a game that pushes its limits, and
There's not real sure fire way to know ahead of time. The best you can do is 1) Quit Steam 2) Launch exe manually 3) See what happens
No offense but people with SLI rigs should be used to stuff NOT WORKING all teh time. The fact that many many games have some weird issue in SLI rigs, yet people keep insisting stuff should work with SLI. I've got no real sympathy for those who dive into that pit knowing full well what it entails and yet complain when it does. Also no one complaing about teh DX11 or memroy requirements is actually looking at teh quality. They just want to run the game on their rinky dink systems a
Ironically the 64 bit requirement for COD:Ghosts is causing all the COD people's heads to explode... The Ghosts forum looks like a bunch of luddites arguing over which rock looks better.
I wonder how the '64-bit' requirement is going to go over with galCiv3? The 6GB of RAM check on COD:Ghosts, as well as the DX11 requirement, is literally causing FPS gamers on the PC side of al lthings, to lose their marbles. There's a weird irony of calling the game "PC unfriendly" when it has requirements that only PC rigs could meet.... People have so much cognitive dissodance sometimes.
