Well, I've tried using Gameranger, and my pings are extremely low. Gameranger games still utilize p2p connections if I'm not mistaken. So, it's apparently not an issue with p2p connections in general, just with DG...

Now my ping is around 800 to over 1000 ms! I looked at Team Fortress 2's servers, and the pings there are low, like 10-35 ms. I don't have a firewall active, and I don't know what else could be affecting it. I guess next I'll just try to close every other application...
this is what i figured...most likey i'm playing the generals like assassins. I'm gonna troll the strat forums see if i can pick up some tips.
Err, you can definitely play the generals like assasins and still do well...
IMO the only diffrence is that Generals can have minions. If you want to be a good general it will require more micro than an Assassin.<b

Yes, I would really like to know if they are stacked additively or multiplicitavely. If I had to guess, I would hazard that they are stacked additively, but I really don't know.

Eh, none of the characters are so badly balanced that a good players can't do well with them. Jut like any other DG, The Rook has a certain role to play in the game, as is determined by his strenghts and weaknesses. If you can understand them, you will do well. That said, balance could always be better, and the Rook is slightly but definitely under-powered at this point compared to other DGs. I'm sure that balance will be further tweaked along the way,

No, you just aren't speccing and/or playing your DGs correctly. If anything, people are saying the opposite, that generals are mostly too powerful compared to assasins.

Not bad; not bad at all! However, it does look like a dark version of The Rook... Fun fact: "Rook" is from the Arabic word for the chesspiece, which is derived from the Persian word for the chesspiece . Its ultimate origin is not clear, though it could be from the Indian word for the piece, "rut, " which comes from the Hindi word "rath," meaning chariot.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your responses. ZehDon: I do try to only play against other Americans. Also, from other places I read about P2P games on the Internet, I got the impression that P2P games do not "look" like file sharing P2P applications, and thus if bandwidth is restricted for filesharing P2P applications, P2P games should still run okay. That may not be correct, and I might contact our IT department to confirm this. Also, given that I used to be an avid WoW player, we

Here are some quesitons on DG mythology: 1) Is "All-Father" another epithet for "The Progenitor," or are they two seperate entities? 2) Are Hel-Gorgath and its minions related to, allied with, or identical to "The Dark" in the context of DG's mythology, or is "The Dark" completely seperate? 3) What, exactly, did The Progenitor mate with to father the Unclean Beast?! 4) Given that the conflict is sold as one between The Light Forces and The Dark Forces, when one

Trying a little bump here... my ping is still through the roof. I tried connecting to one game and I was getting pings in excesses of 500 ms. However, when I try pinging various websites, it's between 14 and 75 ms.

My player sheet in the Pantheon webpage is not empty, even though I have never played Pantheon. Keep in mind, however, that the ranking system is soon going to be r

Err, there might be some things you can accuse Stardock and GPG of doing wrong in the release of Demigod ... But just releasing and forgetting it is NOT one of them.

Why are Pantheon games any better than custom games? I guess I still don't quite understand what Pantheon adds exactly except another rather minor little layer of metagame. Ooooh wait... are Pantheon matches all tournament-style? I have no idea, as I only tried to play Pantheon games back when no one could connect to them, and I haven't tried since :p

First of all, I realize that this is NOT an issue with Demigod itself, but it does of course severly affect game performance. I do not have a great deal of knowledge of networks or that strange series of tubes known as "The Interwebs," so I'm just looking for some general advice here. For mot of last weekend, I was able to connect to people in DG games with reasonable pings (usually < 100 ms). However, come Sunday night to Monday night, my ping went through the

To be honest, this is really only an issue for Mulch Shambler as far as I'm aware and isn't really important for other spells. I personally think that Mulch Shambler should just pick a random shambler, since there probably isn't usually that much strategy in picking one over another (aside from placement for the AoE?) They are typically all in around the same area anyway, though they aren't so tightly grouped together as Erebus's Nightwalkers...

If you don't like Burning Torch, there are other Demigods you can play, such as Regulator, Maple, Animal That Never Washes, and Spiny Growths' Monarch.
