What's in Windows 7 that's missing from Vista that prevents this release from running on my Vista PC. I really hate the idea of paying #219 (still after all these years) to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, the only version that allows me to do an in-place upgrade. I do not have the two weeks free it would take to reinstall everything after doing a new Win7 install.

No Vista support? I didn't think there was much in Win 7 that wasn't in Vista (other than bug fixes). My current Deskscapes configuration (as it's done on and off in the past) crashes when loading some dreams in the configuration program and plays some deams only once without looping. I installed yesterday evening and immediately ran into troubles. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit with UAC enabled. If a function brings up a UAC alert box, my cursor disappears so I can't see to click on the continue button. Uninstalling multiplicity (I had to guess where the cursor was to answer the alert box) immediately fixed the problem. I should add I'm running the latest paid version of CursorFX. I'm used to the UAC temporarily resetting t

@Uvah, I have not done an uninstall but I can try that at some point. @Zuabz (and by the way, I'm using one of your blinds as I type) lately it's been with IE but I couldn't say for sure if it's only ever been IE. I mostly use Chrome but IE is still useful for some things. Actually I have verey few program icons in my bottom dock, mostly folders and a couple of stacks, one of which is a multi-tierd program launcher.

I've had this problem now and then but it's happening more often now. I click on an icon in my lower dock and get an alert saying "already exists exiting". After that, the bottom dock remains active no matter where my cursor is. I can't access any other docks. As I move the mouse around, the bottom dock icons grow and shrink as though I'm still hovering near them. The only solution is to quit OD+ and restart it. I'm running Vi

Not only do you pay $600 a year instead of the initial $2500 but you have to factor in upgrade costs. With the cloud version you're always up-to-date without having to plunk down another $1000+ every year or so. If you have a small business, a fixed monthly charge is easier to manage than large purchase charges to keep the programs updated. If you have a graphics business that can't afford $50 a month you're not going to afford $1000+ in one chunk either.

@Neil, I don't have "corporate" but I tried a couple of the other Stardock Aero blinds and they work fine. Then I tried a couple of blinds that don't modify the min/max/close (at least not in an obvious way) such as Glassphire 2 and the problem returned. Funny thing, even choosing "don't skin the titlebar for this application" doesn't fix the issue. Capturing the empty Excel window was by design since my actual spreadsheets contain financial data. I exclude the Office Apps because the title bars lose their min/max/close buttons and Excel loses its grid lines. This snapshot is of Excel, demonstrating both problems. This happens regardless of the WB I use. [quote who="Neil Banfield" reply="2" id="3185413"]Why are you excluding those apps? They should work just fine without being e

Does WB's inability to skin certain apps, such as any of the Office 2010 programs, Windows Live Mail, Chrome, Photoshop Elements 10, etc., mean those apps are violating the interface rules and doing their own thing? I turn off skinning for those apps, but particularly for Office, the result is very flat. Why don't they display the normal aero skin I have selected when WB is unloaded?

It might gain a small footing in the corporate world, at least the Pro version running Windows 8 (not RT). I can't see consumers jumping on it however. The screen resolution of 1366x768 is only 720P The double memory of 32 and 64 gb sounds nice until you realize this is running a version of Windows, which is not exactly lean and mean. The extra memory will probably result in only small increase in after the OS is included. Will it also be Windows sluggish on

The linked article described in detail what many have known. Windows RT, which is designed for tablets is not Windows 8 compatible. It runs only on ARM processors and cannot run any software written exclusively for Windows 8 or any earlier version of Windows. So please someone explain, why they force desktop users to run Metro? It would make some sense for them technically if RT & 8 were code compatible so they'd only had to support one OS. But they are

With the addition of pages, I may begin to use fences more than just to toggle away desktop icons as I do now. I can see replacing my OD+ nested stack docklet with fences I can easily shove to the side when not in use. There would be too many for one desktop, which is why I don't just do that now. The pages will expand my desktop real estate!

Since at least as far back as NIS 2010, Norton uses much less CPU, most times barely registering in the Task Manager. Installation, which used to take 20-30 minutes now completes in well under 5 minutes. It's been a while so I don't remember the exact time it takes to install. From another thread, Norton isn 't the only AVP that picks up DX. Kapersky does the same.

I can't figure out how to stop Norton from initially deleting the DX programs but I have been able to restore and mark them as safe. 1. After it deletes the .exe, open the main Norton dialog. 2. Choose advanced, then history. 3. Find the deleted item and click on it. Then choose restore & options under Details to undelete it and mark it as safe.

I, for one, love to use radical Windowblinds [e digicons][/e] I use ObjectDock+ 2 so haven't found a need for Fences or Tiles. Maybe at some future date I will. My desktop stays clear of icons altogether. Metro is very ugly, not sure which design elements are not.
