The opening sequence is really good. Birds chipping and other animal noises over my from 4 speakers, the sub-woofer plays the sounds of the 4 colony ships' engines, vibrating my desks and floor as they prepare fly off. I just fired the first volly from the Dreadnoughts. Not sure if I like the new sound. The old sound made my floor vibrate - kaboom! Will the release game offer 5.1 sound?

I got to disagree with Gek. In my current game, all the AIs were in the top 1/2 of the galaxy and I was in the West side/lower 1/3. I managed to colonize the entire bottom 1/2. Dregins and Arceans, evils, were clumped together NW cornor and getting destroyed. After 12 hours of playtime, game is boring. Its just a matter of time. Not only should Frogboy tweek habital worlds, he must also tweek the placement of the homeworlds. I would like each civ to have a fighting chance.
Shouldnt the word 'distance' be plural?? ..."we can build 'wormholes' that will allow travel to distance that previously were beyond comprehension."
Ok, it happened again. Went to debug file, marked last line, return to program and started clicking (having my scout next to AI ship helped). Every now and then, the AI ship pop-up would appear (twice after my mark) but I could not single click on ship. Hopes this helps: Debug Message: Lock: Surface is Restored. Debug Message: Could not find animation titled in model Icon (PlayAnimation) Debug Message: Could not find animation titled in model Icon (PlayAnimation) Debug
The new planet views look good enough for wallpaper! :)
It happened tonight to me too. On the diplomacy screen, I went to talk to minor race, GalCiv lock-up. Didnt check to see if race was conquered that turn. 90+ cpu usage. used task manager to restart. no files damaged.
In the very beginning, when you colonize your first planet. :)
That's an old bug that may have been partially fixed. The Torian constructor ships are now arriving, find a starbase and turning around. Its not unique to the Torian AI, the Alterians have 10 constructors on the way, in a straight line, 1 behind the other, spread out over 4 sectors. That's why I like my suggestion, if a constructor has a resource as its destination, and that resource disappears, whether AI or player, auto-pilot disengages.
I built a starbase on a resource about 5 turns before the first Torian constructor got there. Its about 12 turns later and 16 more Torian consturctors are still headed for my starbase. The Torian AI is Average. Those ships should have turned around and gone elsewhere the turn after the resource was taken. :( Is it possible to issue a warning that a resource my constructor was heading to was taken by an AI? An pop-up box with an option to either Continue or Disengage auto-pilot would b
The new sounds with the video (1st starbase, 1st freighter) sounds & looks great! The new opening video, with the colony ships leaving earth, is very good. Congrats! Will you have an option (like in Diablo 2) to manually replay these videos? I
Thanks! I though I was only one having this auto-focus problem.
Just noticed, when you research Star Democracy, under New Improvements, '-Political Capital' appears twice.
This click bug doesnt happen every turn, only some turns. Its been around for months and probably hard to find.
1) Clicking on AI ship gives (new sounding) beep and sector view jumps back to your active ship. Double clicking, no matter how fast, now fails to bring up AI ship menu (cant ID AI ship). This bug is very anoying. (:(
1)nice touch on main intro with door opening on menu 2)new main menu cool - autosave bar excellent idea :)
It NyQuil time! Rest, watch TV and stay away from keyboard. ;)
doesnt any ship on starbase prevent constructor upgrages?
It took a while in the os/2 ver but Brad finally got the next ship to move are those closest to last one to move. It's anoying trying to bring an invasion fleet of 40 ships into battle, with the mini-map zoomed in, and the next ship to move is a constructor, 20 sectors away from the action. Is there a way I can manually stack the order of next ship to move?
Has anyone noticed how long it takes to load a gigantic galaxy game, near end. It took my machine nearly 5 mins from 95% to gametime. And I cant swap to IE while game loads in backround.
1) The summary screen did not display type of win. It was blank. didnt know til submit to metaverse. 2) On the Economy screen, Cash lost column had normal numbers for me and dregins but other 4 AI all had numbers starting with 429496xxxx where x differs. 3) After submission to metaverse, CTD.
could my 191 planets cause my slowdown ? Also, I've been conquering planets and hit spacebar within a second. The planet view screen does not appear until 10 seconds after the music stops. I think ships are moving in the backround after my successful invasion and the planet view.
I am having slowdown on manual moving ships, convoys so bad stopped using them. I have 119 in orbit, 30 guarding starbases, 121 on auto and 46 manual moves (used star orbit on ship list). I re-booted machine and still have problem. (:(
I think the long pause are all your auto-pilot ships moving. Perhaps a message stating that would help.
Lame, GREAT idea! :)
this is not your typical game. Most computers sold in last 2 years will play game in tiny and small galaxies. For those lucky enough to own dream machines, the gigantic galaxy end-game will be no problem.
