I'll bring this to the attention of the people who work on the dgm...

I think that this will be fixed in the next build...I was tweaking trade last week. There's not really a formal way to report bugs, but it's always helpful if you have saved games that reproduce the problem and you send them to [email protected]. The debug.err file can also be useful, and the SmartException log if it works for you.
Umm...I suppose that we could make one that builds the list as you explore space and discover the star systems...I'll add it to my list of suggestions. As for what you can sort on, that will probably also depend on what goes on the final planet list design, because ostensibly you'd be able to sort on anything being displayed on the entry.
I think that Fredrik also mentioned an instance where his ship had attacked another and it didn't set the relations to At War. I'll check it out. --Cari
Just whenever you're trying to unintsall/re-install. I've had more than one person tell me, "But I did a clean install" when they hadn't deleted those files and therefore they were still having problems. Granted, our installer needs to be tweaked, but in the meantime it'll save all of us grief if you delete the files yourself. :)
Hmm...yes, a race is dead if it has no more planets. With the way that the code is now, it will cancel the ship destinations of the dead civ's ships. Maybe the AI is trying to reset the destinations (like it missed a check to see if it was dead or not). --Cari
Hmm...your card should love the bink files then. :) Let me know if this happens after this week's build, when you guys will have the most up to date rotating planet code.
Ok, that should be simple enough to fix...
Ships should stop getting stuck under stars in the next build. It won't help your saved games where they're under there, but new games will work properly.
It would be possible, but I don't know how complicated it would be to code. Besides, the ship still shouldn't haven't attacked it if it wasn't targeted or an enemy ship.
Can you always get this to happen, or does there have to be more than 2 events on the screen? Are they usually a social project or a military project when it happens? I haven't been able to reproduce this yet, so if you have a saved game where you can reproduce it, it would save me a lot of time. I need both the .sav file from the SaveGames directory and the corresponding folder in order to load the game. Thanks. [email protected]
:) Well, you hadn't when I posted the reply. :)
Um, I don't know why you didn't get a wizard or anything from autorun...Are you running Windows XP? Windows XP has problems with auto-running, although I think that there's a patch out to fix it now. Did Galciv generate a debug.err file? If it did, can you send it to me at [email protected] I'm also asking the person who wrote the installer file to read this thread to see if he can figure out what's up with the cd install. Sorry that it took so long for anyone to
So you're saying that the scrollbar isn't leaving when there's 3 or less events left? Or that it goes away even if there are more than 3 events left?
Ok, I think that I have finally figured out what caused this, since I finally had it happen to me. :) I've fixed this instance, at least. I had a ship selected on the list that got deleted, but the list didn't clear the selection pointer. So then when I went to click on another one, it checked to see if anything was already selected, but it crashed since it was now pointing to junk.
Anyone with this problem should delete the Planet18.bik and Planet14.bik files from their directories. This issue should be fixed in the next build.
yeah, I wanted this today, too. :)
Actually, if it's ending in mid-sentence, it may just have run out of room. Some of our text boxes need scrollbars and for the rest of them, with the REALLY long text, we have to work on the scrolling code.
So it doesn't crash, but it just stays at a black screen? Are you connected to the internet when this happens, and does it work if you disconnect to the internet before running Gal Civ?
Hmm, that's odd. It's just supposed to check for a connection to the internet, not connect. Are you playing out of the DGM or just from the exe? --Cari
You may need the latest version of the dgm. Is one of the error codes that you're getting error 70?
So you build the freighter, make it leave orbit, send it to another system and let it sit there for awhile, then try to launch it again and it crashes? It may be related to the problems with trade that I already fixed...
Scott is working on this.
Yes, it should work. It did when I tested it, but before I fixed it, it let you increase it too many times, which caused it to crash.
Can you send me your saved game files of a game where you can reproduce this, along with any related files such as debug.err and GALCIV.EXE.CRA (making sure that they're from the game that crashed). [email protected] Thanks.
