I have been following your regimen loosely and I'm sorry to hear that it is not working so well for you. But it is a slow process. Considering the time it took to get out of shape it will still take some time to get in shape. Hang in there! Do you feel better now when you have started to exersice? What measuring you body instead of using your body weight? My body weight varies q

I have browsed the specs for the Political Machine and love Galactic Civilization (since the OS/2 days) but can not see any appeal for me being a non-US-resident. Even though I find politics interesting (including US politics as they have an vast direct or indirect influence over the rest of the world) I can not justify the expense. Any non-US-residents that have played the game and found it entertaining? Or should I just be patient and
Interesting article! I try to do quite different things when not working. Cooking is my main hobby, since my relationship to food closely resembles addiction. I buy a cookbook for a particular cuisine, i.e. Japanese, Thai, Indian, Cajun, whatever, and use that book for inspiration for a while. Travelling around the world in your own kitchen! (which is a necessity if you consider traditional Swedish cuisine...) Shopping for groceries jn small special
I care about the To-Do list as well! I was not considering buying OD Plus (since I hade some stability issues with its free sibling) but a working to-do list would change all that.
Yeah, I noticed that. Will try to switch to sparse for my next game and see what happens! I was used to playing catchup after the initial explore/expand phase but it seems very difficult to get to an equal level. Thank you for your suggestion.
Is it just me or is Altarian Prophecy more difficult than the regular Galciv? I've been stomped on two Painful games and I used to be able to beat crippling 8 times out of 10 in the original. Is it perhaps due to adding to more races results in added difficulty (playing large maps). Have you found that you needed to change your strategy in Altarian Prophecy?
Hi, It has been so long since I installed the original Galactic Civilization so could not remember if there was a default alignment for the races in that game. I have always played the game as: Drengin - Pure Evil Altarian - Pure Good Yor - Chaotic Evil Torian - Chaotic Good Archean - Neutral and I had the idea that this was the default. At least it has an enjoyable setup for me. After installing the Altarian Prophecy expansion I was given the optio
I am envious of you! It has been a few years since I went to Thailand last and I came to love Bangkok after a week or so when the initial chock settled. Chiang Mai is much calmer and a bit friendlier, I think. Have a nice trip!
Hm.. The only spyware related software that I've ever gotten is the tracker cookies. It seems to pay off not using Internet Explorer and using open source software whenever possible. And, yes, I do install quite a lot of software. But only from companies with a good reputation and those I do trust.
Actually the penny pinching is central to the IKEA culture. Ingvar is very careful to propagate the image of being very careful with spending money. People from the area of Sweden (Småland) where Ingvar comes from, are proud to be cheap and penny pinching.. So he's just keeping up with the tradition. I have worked for IKEA (as a consultant) for three years and I can personally vouch for the penny pinching mentality. I've seen him in Älmhult (t
"Let me rephrase what I said though, jelvis. It's more than just the loss of salary. When it comes time to trim the fat (and the past few years seems about the season for it) if you're not as valuable as the next person, when it comes down to it..you'll get booted before them. Attendance is an important part of productivity." Just how productive are really sick people? We are not talking about a slight sniffle, we are talking about really sick
I could not agree more! If I am ever to be in a position to manage people I will not allow them to work when obviously sick. It's so arrogant to spread the crap around. Firing the sod for coming to work having the flu would be a better course of action than to fire the guy who had the brains to stay home.
Island dog: Can't speak for all Europeans. Europe is very heterogeneous. All assumptions involving Europeans as a group have to be very sweeping and general and most likely incorrect. :-) That said, I think it is safe to say that 99% of all Europeans never heard of John Kerry before this election. IMO it is simply a matter of Bush having a bad reputation while Kerry has none. I also think that we Europeans generally feel mor
I guess that it depends on whether or not you want a president that is more likely to uphold good relations to the European countries. Isn't it up to each American voter to take that into account? If my country hade a president rather than a prime minister chosen by the ruling party, I would factor the presidents ability to uphold and improve diplomatic relations into the equation. As a European I do not see that you have any obligation to co
I agree that sgsmitty64 that it may be easy to consider a person that disagrees with you a griefer. Even though it was Brad who coined the expression, I think that a person would need multiple offences in order to earn the griefer title. Everyone has a bad day now and then and sometimes emotion overwhelms judgement. In my opinion griefers are people that feeds on making others feel as miserable as they are. I think that they simply enjoy recei
I was active on FidoNet before getting access to Usenet and I must say that I think that your article is spot on. One thing that particularly strikes me is that the image of presence that the griefer presents online is often much bigger than he does in person. A productive griefer will make his presence very noticable in a BBS/Fido/Usenet/Web-forum. In real life they usually dissappear, as they lack the skills to interact with others face to f
Sorry if it has been reported before but I am simply to lazy to read through the entire thread. In the end game military screen it shows that the number of enemy and personal ships destroyed is 0. Same goes for Soldiers killed in battle. In my case that is simply not correct since I wiped out to other major races as well as one minor. Could it be a reload issue this as well?
Interesting article. The only thing that I might object to is that Americans usually consider Europe as a unity. Europe is much less of a unity that the US and there are vast differences between the countries on the European continent. The northern countries are very different from the southern countries both regarding people and policies. Not to mention West Europe vs the old Eastern block countries. But fairness vs freedom is an interesti
I've also been using Mozilla/Firefox for some time now and I and only use IE for internet banking. Tabbed browsing is great and so is the "find link by typing"-feature. The less you need to use the mouse, the better.
Hm... So that is why my laptop is booting more slowly over time. I alway thought that the reason was that the registry expands as more and more applications are installed. Do anyone know if there are alternative filesystems available for XP? On Linux you have a multitude of options and EXT3, ReiserFS and JFS are still in development.
I for one feel for you. I done a fair amount of weightlifting a few years ago and visited the gym this Sunday for the first time in almost a year. The pain... My pecs are twice their normal size and swollen. My ass is so sore that sitting down on the can is a real test of courage... I'm going back there tomorrow.
Some days are crappier than others and I feel the need to vent and perhaps help others to avoid placing trust where it does not belong. I finally came around to upgrading my Synaptic Touchpad drivers to allow me to scroll using the scroll buttons in Mozilla on my ASUS laptop. I had known for quite a while that i
Yes, I concur. The less micromanagement as possible, please.
Gigantic in 3-5 hours! I will try not to use abundant and give it a go! Thanks for the tip!
Unfortunately using the minimap forces me to use the mouse... One thing that could make the minimap somewhat more useful for autopilot destinations would be to have some kind of focus functionality when moving the pointer over. A planet or a starbase could "pop up" when moving the pointer over the graphic, allowing to you know if you have come spot on.
