I think the problem was that I had an old version, now I have the latest, but the new problem I have is with the forum. When using sdcentral discussion only 4 threads show up unlike when I go to the galciv website where all the threads are there and up to date. Any suggestions?

Hi, When I run the stardock central application I get this message: Your stardock.net account (email) has failed to logon to the stardock central servers. Since you are not currently logged on to the server you will be unable to install or view any updates that are available. What is causing this? I can still use the application to post to the forum and chat, but what will I do when I want to download the bonus pack?

Frogboy is right. I posted something similar on the moo3 forum yesterday in response to someone complaining about "only being human" and "no ship design". They used that as an excuse to say the game lacked depth. I responded by saying that ship design has nothing to do with depth. Ship design deals with detail. And as for being different races. Most of the time I pick a different race in another game I simply feel like I'm picking a different graphic. Anyway, DEPTH has to do with your interactio

For those who have played the game. I know you probably can't remember specifics, but about how many turns(months) into the game were you when the terror star became available?

it's not about thinking it up, it's about knowing how to implement it. for example, I want to assasinate the Drengin Emperor. Thinking it up is easy, but how do I implement it. I can't just go in with a rifle/ray gun and do it. I have to be able to get past the border and fit in with Drengin society (which means learning a lot about their culture and habits so I don't give myself away). How could I infiltrate an empire where I didn't even speak the language and always drew attention to myself, e

There is a difference because in 9/11 you had terrorists living among us training in simulators for a time. Much like in intergalactic terrorism, you would have to train and learn about those you plan to terrorize. This would take the form as some advancement in intergalactic terrorism. After all, you have to be able to get close to your enemy without giving yourself away. Your own starship would get shot down if you used it to destroy a building so you have to use their own. The point is that y

Sorry about the confusion. I was mostly thinking about how the other seats from the opposition parties are filled and those ideas are what I came up with. Regardless, I can't wait till the game comes out. :)

Event: League of Nonaligned Worlds splits apart and gears for war. This event depends on if there is a League already. The event itself is just a news event which creates 2 Leagues which are now at war with each other. They stay at war with each other until one League wins. Once the event takes place and there are 2 leagues, any major civ could stay neutral or pick sides(by funding one side or allying with it). Once you have made a choice then you cannot switch sides, i.e. if you give w

I read somewhere on this forum that the opposing party's number of seats in the senate is somewhat random. I was wondering if there are any plans to do away with this and make the landscape of the sentate more dependent on your actions and galaxy conditions? I have thought of a few things that I think would be interesting regarding this. For instance, in a republic, democracy, or federation, the colonies have a vote and this decides how the senate seats are filled. In order to have a mo

Event: Galactic Olympics Affects: Empire that wins gets a bonus in influence until the next Oympics are held. the event: Every 4 years the civilizations of the galaxy get to gether to host the Galactic Oympics. Each empire's participation is up to them, but whoever wins the games (i.e. takes home the most gold medals) gets a bonus in influence empire wide, and has better relations with minor civs, that lasts until the next olympic games 4 years later. Event: Subversive Diplomacy Affects: One empire that you are enemies with. The event: "Our diplomats have been secretly contacted by underground elements with the (enter name) empire. They propose, that if we back them financialy they might be able to pull off a cou'de ta effectively changing the government." Option 1: Do nothing (relations with your enemy stay the same). Option 2: Support the underground ( cost X amount of bc per turn, lasting 24 turns, then you g

Instead of having to look in the diplomacy screen every turn to see what is going on with your neighbors, these news event should be added to give the game a more involved feel. 1.) Any time a major or minor civ goes to war a news event should pop up to let you know. 2.) Any time a major or minor civ ends a war a news event should pop up. 3.)If any civilization is down to one system and an ivading fleet is heading for that system, a news event should let you know. Perhaps it wou

Event: Skin of Evil Affects: Only good major civilizations The event: “Our scientists have discovered a way to extract the negative and bad elements out of our bodies ultimately making us a more pure, and better race. Once these elements have been extracted our alignment will shift more toward good and our morale, and population growth, will receive a bonus empire wide. This is a quote I read in an interview that Brad did. "the Drengin government may agree with your policies but the “Drengin street” may not and they have to consider that in their dealings with you" I was just curious as to how this manifests intself in the game? What does the AI go thru when it looks at how it feels with how it's people feel? Perhaps someone could give me an example?

Perhaps its something that can be looked into for future add-ons, to make it less random. Not that it should be rigid, but if your kicking but in a war, the people are more than likely to support you more, likewise if your getting creamed they may vote to change leadership, regardless of what party you belong to.

Hi all, I started this thread in response to Brad’s comment on the forum about waiting to see what ideas the players came up with regarding more techs for evil races. Please keep this thread limited to your ideas, no comments on other peoples ideas. This way it will be easy for devs to look in here and see what we’re thinking of and not have to sift through a bunch of chitchat. Thanks. ;) 1.) thanks for the info, I heard with the bonus pack that we'd be able to select which victory condition we want to win by. Does anyone know if this means that the A.I. has to follow the same option you pick? I.E., if I select cultural victory only, will this be the only way the A.I can win as well?
