My first impression was good. I'm still in the process of playing my first game so I haven't figured out all of the gameplay elements, but thus far the game has been good enough to make me want to learn everything. The graphics are probably the best I've seen in a 4x game, so I'd have to say they are good. One thing that helps is that the interface seems sleek and high-tech. The sound is what I would expect from a space based 4x game, but i think I will utilize the mp3 player option in the long

Personaly I like the old orchestral music from the early star trek movies. "Battle in the Mutara Nebula" is a good one. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!! :) One question though: Do all these songs have to be in mp3 format? If so, where do you get them? I'm kind of ignorant on this mp3 stuff.

I tried downloading the bonus pack yesterday at 8:00pm central time using sdc and it was only ver 1.0, not 1.01. I had to download it through the galciv website to get the full bonus pack. Can anyone tell me why this happened?

Just lease a bunch of colony ships until you are drowning in a sea of debt, then hope that those colonies will be prosperous enough to make up for all the debt. ;) Note: I haven't actually tried this, but I will utilize this theory in my next game.

I thought the review was partly objective but still childish in a few ways. The thing that I noticed that was totally absurd was listed in the Cons section. "Nothing truly ground breaking or revolutionary" is listed as a con. That is the dumbest statement I've every heard in a review. Are all of the thousands of games released each year supposed to be, "ground breaking and revolutionary", and if not, then that counts against them as a con. You've got to be kidding! >:( ~SDC~

where are those links, are you sure their not just previews. I've kept up to date with everything and the things i've read seem more like previews. I'm looking for reviews with opinions and ratings. ;) ~SDC~

The spend rate is different and I think I understand that one. It has nothing to do with your income. The 53% spend rate has to do with production capacity. If it's set to 100% then you're running all of your facilities that produce military, social, and research points. The total cost to run all these is 100%, but you don't always have enough income to cover the cost so you have to adjust spending downward which means some of you production ability is just sitting there wasting away, but that's

But the number displayed for military expense is less than the percentage distribution would indicate. 41% of total active spending(1190 bc) is 488 yet military expense is 420 which makes it looks like your 41% is really 36%. In effect it just the opposite of what you said. Where is the other 68bc (488-460) or 5% that should show up for military expenses if it is truly 41% of gov expenditures?

Regarding this link http://www.galciv.com/examples/5/new-58.jpg Gov expenditures are set to 53%. Is this 53% of your production ability? Also the Military, Social and Research are set to 41%, 18% and $41%. What I can't figure out is how they get the actual number from these percentages. For example, miltary is 41% and the military expenses are listed as 420 bc. As far as I can tell, 420 bc doesn't seem to be 41% of the government expenses. So how coes 41% in this example eq

Is there anywhere in the game interface where I can check what my alignment is, other than the interface changing colors when evil? If not it would be nice to know whether you are neutral or good and to what degree. I know someone might say to just pay attention to the decisions you make but if you've gone through 10 or 20 events and have chosen different alignment outcomes it might get hard to remember where your alignment is.

Don't you just love it when unreasonable people say they can't argue with you cause you're unreasonable. The first post by Sencho was the unprofessional one. Ahh, they are the fools, let them wonder around in their proverbial backwater of stupidity. ;)

I'm not sure if i'm following this well so I'll ask this. Say you are spending x amount on military. If you have 10 planets building warships is this x amount distributed equally among those planets? Likewise, if you only have 5 planets building warships and the money is distributed equally wouldn't you complete those warships twice as fast? ~SDC~
