Why I'd like it in window mode is because I use a spread sheet to keep track of things as I play.. (at the moment I print out a blank spreadsheet and write it up as I play..
That's a great idea! Sure beats using pencil and paper - like I do! ;) Bill ~SDC~
Each his own, a serious gamer doesn't use 98 except as a Drink coaster.
I don't know about that, either. I know many people who refuse to upgrade to XP because of various game incompatibilities. Windows 98 will run most games more quickly because of its deficiencies, believe it or not. XP controls multitasking. Great for stability because it tells the programs when to run and when to wait. A misbehaving app cannot hog the CPU which means that if the program h
We add up the total influence bonuses FIRST and then mulitiply it later. This will dramaticlaly change influence pumping in the sense that you'll want to pump up fewer starbases more rather than have more starbases with fewer cultural enhancements.
I imagine this was always the way it was supposed to be. It makes more sense. Bill ~SDC~
98 is not a gaming OS, it's hosed for most games. Upgrade to XP.
Are you sure about that? I felt it to be the other way 'round. I've found many games choke on Windows XP and do fine on Windows98. Now if you're talking stability, that's quite a different issue. XP is by far the better operating system. Bill ~SDC~

You can always quit your empire and come back to claim what is rightfully yours, y'know! Oh, and yes, it did help, and since I've signed up for Drengin Net already, I made the switch to GA: AP. Bill ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
You can look at the true pq of the planets and abort the colonization. Just hit ok, then instead of hitting a planet to clonize click on the map just by the system, and the colony ship reappears. You then click on the system and it shows you the pq. You can then click on your ship and right click the system to colonize, or send it somewhere else. Also, you can click on the system before you colonize it and it will show you the planets in it and their pq. In general, mid game if you see an

Brad: Don't feel like you have to defend your actions here. We all know that you and your team work your butts off to bring us the best quality software and support that I've ever seen. It was there years ago, when you were doing GalCiv for OS/2. (In fact, I kind of miss the Ominorians, now that I think of it.) All I can say is that I'm perfectly happy with the way GalCiv has evolved, and appreciate that you are still working to keep the code current. All I ask is that some

It could have been a planet that was colonized by a somebody, had an unfortunate event that reduced the PQ, then they abandoned it. The effect of the event stays with the planet but doesn't show up until you colonize it. Bill ~SDC~
i just started playing my first game in v1.20 with tough difficulty. I picked a map, colonized a few border worlds and then turned my eyes towards the inner stars. To my undisguised horror i discovered practically all stars (at least 5 good yellow ones) were taken over by the alexians within 5 turns of the game!! Whats the deal with minors taking over the galaxy? I find this most unsettling, they're supposed to be minor, not major races so why dont they act like one?
It
Usually, when it is a gift, the text is right (something like, your benevolence has won us, we gift you...). Latelly i've even had trade proposals of nothing against nothing!
I've had that occasionally, too. Sometimes it's deliberate - they say something like "just keeping channels open in case you wanted something" - sometimes it comes up with something like, "Hello, human. We would like to trade ."
yeah, you have no benefit from fleets other than less micro management currently. This means that your corvettes are attacking the death knight 1 at a time, and gradually lowering its hit points. Maybe in the future we will actually see fleet/tactical combat.
Never mind... I read a post that just confirmed what I wrote here originally, so ignore this post. :) Bill ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Yeah, I've seen that alot too. It could very well be that there's more than the one bug operating...
I remember Cari saying something about how auto-survey AI was handled and that she wrote an alternative but wasn't satisfied with the results. I wonder if this new AI is an offshoot of this?
