Hey, I remember you get a free preview of one of the parsecs in 0,0 (I don't remember which sector it is, exactly, but it's been reported and I've seen it myself), so the computer isn't the ONLY one that gets an advantage at the beginning of the game! ;) Oh, and you can fleet your ships; they can't. If you were in the AI's shoes, I'd bet YOU'D call that cheating... ;) Bill Besides, YOU get to cheat by changing a culture victory to a military one just by conquering t

I have an idea. Delete your endgame save! It is probably subject to the same rules as the regular saved games. You have to delete all your old saved games (pre-1.19) and that probably includes the endgame save, also. Try reloading from your last good save, delete the endgame save, win again, then re-submit. Odds are, it should work. Bill ~SDC~

I have an idea for everyone who has the problem where they cannot submit 1.2 games to the metaverse: Delete your endgame save! I believe the endgame save is also affected by the saved game format differences between 1.13 and 1.19+, so you probably need to reload from your last valid saved game, delete your endgame save, win again, then submit. I'm close to a victory; I'll see if it works. Bill ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
I tried to reload from an autosave file and got a consistent CTD. Strangely enough, I could reload from the "previous autosave" file. After deleting the autosave file and playing enough turns to get another autosave, I can now load reload from either. Seems like the install for 1.2 should have warned us to delete all old saved games including autosave, previous autosave, quicksave, and endgame save.
You know, the strange thing is... there WAS a warning about this very th
I just finished a game started in 1.2 and didn't get my tech score properly calculated. The scoring showed that no-one had researched a single tech except one race who had three. I traded only a couple of techs, I researched the rest of the tree (finished the game while researching final frontier). It seemed to be brining my score down because of this. I have a copy of the end game save I can send in if it would help.
I'm just guessing, but I think all this stuff has to d
I said this in another thread but I'll repeat it here: great job, thanks for the hard work, you saved this newb loads of head scratching and wrong turns.
I thought that "making wrong turns" was half the fun of GalCiv in the old days (frustrating sometimes, to be sure). I have always felt that to reveal the tech tree was a kind of cheating on a certain level. Of course, I also realize that my feelings on the subject are only my personal ones, and I harbor no ill will tow

Why should you get flamed for suggesting things that you would like to see in a game? There were many, many, many suggestions that were picked right out of these forums and inserted right into the game! Bill ~SDC~

Sometimes there's also an upgrade to the multimedia released at the same time an upgrade is released - as was the case a couple of times so far - including, I believe, the upgrade to 1.19 and 1.20. Bill ~SDC~

Being a GC/2 player from way back, I started off at "normal" difficulty. And got my butt kicked. The Drengins really took advantage of my poor diplomacy skills and demanded so much tribute that I went into debt and couldn't build a fleet... meanwhile, all my systems started hating me because I couldn't draw up a budget... and then we all know what happened after that ... :) Bill ~SDC~
I've had this problem too. I think what may happen is that the stats are only since you last loaded a saved game. That's what it looked like to me anyway.
Could be related to a bug that I've noticed in 1.20 (but wasn't looking for in 1.19) where all the permanent UP resolutions disappear upon loading a saved game.
There's still no sound at all during the movie the first time your freighters are attacked. I'm sure there used to be, laser blasts and what not! Unless I've gone mad!
They were supposed to fix that by including a verion of the movie with sound in the multimedia pack. (The reason there's no sound is because... there's no sound!) :) Bill ~SDC~
I'm playing GalCiv v.1.13, giantic universe, near the end of the game, I think (only me and 2 civs left). Playing on a P4, 1.7 GHz with 512 Memory, and a GeForce4 Ti4200 video card, all running under Win2000. The game takes 11 minutes to load. This can't be normal. Can it? My watch is working fine, so tell me I'm doing somthing else wrong. Please!
Are you talking about saved game load times? Mine never take more than a minute to load and that's playing giganctic also. M
A new CTD bug involves "on screen" destruction of mini-freighters. I am not completely sure what triggers the faulty mini-freighter, but once the freighter becomes bugged, clicking on it will freeze the game, or when an enemy attacks that freighter, the game crashes.
It's been around for quite a while, actually. Is the offending mini-freighter bright pink?
When I tried to reload my game from a file "New Save Game" I found it hadn't been saved and an old g
For the record - I perferred the OS/2 Terror Star. They cost 5,000 shields and had a 250bc maintance. The scarest part of the OS/2 game was hearing the TerrorStar noise and knowing that the AI just zapped one of your systems. The old TS could not attack ships but they moved as fast as a battleship and it took a few battleships to destroy them. I used to deploy sensor drones near my systems just to detect an approaching TS. The new TS are weak and I just dont use them.I would like to see th
Seems like alignments are all outta whack... I'm at 40% and am called demonic? 100% and merely good (but 60% and considered saintly)?
I hope this is merely a text display issue. (It probably is because the programmer would probably use constants for their alignment breakover points - you could then just change the constants if you wanted to fool around with when alignment changes.)
