#69 by Veteran Seeker Master - 1/3/2004 8:29:10 PM Just a quick question about the map editor, anyway to get the grid to be smaller in the screen, that way I can see the whole map, and know where I placed the planets???
If I undesterstood what you wanted, have you tried the mouse wheel? Here I can get it to reduce the scale, so I can get the whole map on the screen (small maps). But I'm not sure that's what you were asking for :) ~SDC~

ok ok ok Thanks Lord Megatron. I'll surely give them a try! By any chance do you know if there was an update for the galciv writer (to be used with 1.13)?. I wanted to make a few more events and UP resolutions. If they work fine, maybe I can contribute to your library :) ~SDC~

Nice report Aaron. ** a few seconds for my eyes to rest: the text of the posts is so tiny in my screen, or am I getting older? ** I haven't managed to survive a crippling game yet, but I might give it a try in a tiny map. I sounds like a concentrated/condensed game and fun. I usually play medium /rare-uncommon. My last attempt was on tough, and was quite different from normal: all AI were allied with one another (including minor races, except the two evil civs, taken out by the
Now I just have to decide if I'm going to go the whole hog and get drengin.net or whether I just go for GalCiv for now and see how it works out.
I forgot to add. Drengin.net gives you access to whatever game stardock has developped during your subscription. You also get to have access to the beta version of the galciv expansion (AP) and of the patches. If you think you will want the expansion, it may be worth it. I think there was the possibility to "upgrade" to dren

Steve Holgeth, You're welcome. You'll see that if you have other questions, just ask, and you'll probably get a answer from some player. I was amazed by the friendly atmosphere in this forum :)
#3 by Citizen Steve Holgeth - 1/2/2004 9:05:07 AM Forget to check the thread again until now
I guess you mean the new year party was pretty good ;) ~SDC~

Well Ginata, I would say that since the moment it is habitable (no point discussing before, hein?) it was high enough, let's say 25, then maybe it got a little higher as we understood some of the natural mechanisms at work. Since that short period of time, it is decreasing: 30, 29, 28 , 27 , 26. Then we started testing nuclear weapons in the air, underground and sea, 22, 21, 20, 19, And then George Bush was elected 17, 16, and maybe reelected ( :sniff!: ) 15, 14 , 13 :sniff!: :sniff!:
The Alexians minor power has expanded to 7 planets, just about as fast as I did. I thought this patch was supposed to .curb. the minors from expanding so much? The Kwalisians (which haven't morphed into the I-League yet) have a large fleet of colony ships wandering around as well (with nowhere to go, aww darn)
In my games they and the carinoids never get out of their home sector (maybe the carinoids did once) ~SDC~

No, it's a normal event. I 've just asked the same thing when 150-200 corvettes appeared all over the galaxy (3-10 per sector :sniff!: ). It took some time but my overlords are almost done with the cleaning :) ~SDC~

Hello Steve
In the demo I researched 35 techs, discovering 62 in total. I read there are 150 techs in total, and that the tech research rate has been sped up in general. Doesn't that make it too easy to complete the tech tree in a larger galaxy? I'm only playing in a small with 12ish planets and I've completed 20% of it already... is that right?!?
I don't really know the demo so I can't really tell about the tech tree in it. But In the many games I've played, I'v
#21 by Citizen CapitalShip - 12/29/2003 12:58:39 PM I don't feel so bad now. I just got around to buying it too, yesterday in fact. Which explains why I was up until 5am this morning.
Well, get ready for a lot more of that: I have the game since day 1, and yesterday at 4h28am I decided I should stop and go back to family life, just to find out they were all sleeping (how can they sleep when I'm in the middle of a death struggle to save the galaxy!). Enjoy your game!<

Hello everybody! It's been a looong time. Too much work in real life, but what can be done about that? Bill have to be paid, and I had some huge leases from my last game. Now that things have settled, I've been playing more often, and at least I managed to breach the 20000 barrier yesterday, so the year end on a better note (the good note was having galciv in the first place :) ) At least I'm not lost in the depths of the Metaverse. Back from the 2000s place into the 600s. It's bet
I'm thinking of letting the Bright level AI write my thesis, certainly the prospectus.
Good idea Dearmad! I'm a bit stuck in mine, and considering how well the AI manages to develop its planets, it should be able to help me with my supposedly & theorically ongoing development economics thesis! What a relief :) But yes, this AI is that good. ~SDC~

Thks for the info Seeker Master & Maxtipherous. It just seemed weird that what existed before cannot be redone by me. And the fact that the computer had many side by side starbases. Specially the Arceans, who it seems still have problems optimizing their SB production. And Maxtipherous, yes, I know for the terrorist event and the "Die Humans", it's just that there are so many and so spread through out the galaxy that it seemed strange. It looks like my minimap has chicken pox
#149 by Veteran Maxtipherous - 12/30/2003 2:57:42 PM well, since 1.13 I can build starbases as close as I like in the same sector.
How come I can't! I don't understand that there are differences in the same version of the game. Is it possible that after sometime (I've just played several hours today) the computer somehow loses count, forget all the rules? ~SDC~

This seems to be my night. Same game as #145 & 148. 1 enemy starbase on a resource. One mine 2 parsecs away. I destroy his base and send a constructor to grab the resource: I get the message about starbase limits :SURPRISED: And in the same game there are starbases side by side everywhere (alien ones) :sniff!: Later on A new planet appears (UN event). Who should have it. I vote for me, and get it. A few turns later since they are about to defect to my enemy
Yes, and sometimes it's so good, you just eat too much, and don't feel that good after. Just like galciv when you just play, and notice that 5 minutes after (or so it seems) it's 4am and you have to get up at 7 to go to work
4h28am Sometimes I hate so much when I am right :sniff!: ~SDC~

And, in that same game (cf #145) the Arceans (the yellow ones) are building starbases like crazy. They have 10 to 15 (don't remember exactly) in one sector, including 3 side by side. They are all simple starbases, with no modules, doing nothing except costing maintenance. I though you couldn't have more than 1 every 3 parsecs. (the 3 side by side are not on resources or anuthing, just plain & simpke "stage 1" starbases. ~SDC~
