I guess it was the non tax payers: they do not count as military in the defense, so they survived. And they certainly were bad, since they did not pay. And then, event, they become good monthly tax payers :) ! ~SDC~

I applied the minipatch as well. No problems.
Why on EARTH is this piece of the program so FREAKIN difficult to get working right on every computer.
I guess you're right about that. I see many people complaining about problems with it. But I have yet to have one. I hope it lasts. ~SDC~

In my current game, the Alexians just had the "radical change of values" event. Except that I took over their planet several turns ago. And I'm pretty much certain that they do not have another planet. I guess they were in the purgatory and made it through to heaven ;) . (they were about 20000 on the planet when I invaded, so I guess it took time to process all of them :) ) ~SDC~
#4 by Citizen Robert Olesen - 12/29/2003 2:35:23 AM Thanks, but there's a twist to this.If I build a starbase on a resource in a sector where I have no systems, what's the benefit? And the explanation of those mining modules aren't quite clear to me - specifically how they tie to the type of resource being mined. Some mention e.g. military and social production even though the resource may give a research or morale bonus.
If you are on a research or morale resource, t
What a fine analogy this is! Well said. And just like food in a fine restaurant, with GalCiv, you just have to have one more bite...
Yes, and sometimes it's so good, you just eat too much, and don't feel that good after. Just like galciv when you just play, and notice that 5 minutes after (or so it seems) it's 4am and you have to get up at 7 to go to work :sniff!: ~SDC~ [Message Edited]

It seems to me the spacesharks get tougher everyturn from the moment they are discovered. I mean they appear with a minimum of hitpoints, which goes up everyturn. So if you attack them soon after they've appeared, its easier to kill them. ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
To me, the "lack of micromanagement" is one of the major advantages of GalCiv
I agree too. what jordan kwan says about the waste of resources was discussed in the forum very early after release. And the justification was somthing like you have a planet with 100 people in it 33 doinf social, 33 military, 33 research (euh... and 1 nontax payer, that doesn't count). Even if you say all expenses to research, you can't expect some factory workers who put the frigates

Keep on with the good vibes Ginata. Vibes from the metaverse best, and pure good, can only feel good. :) I've just checked my atlas, and indeed earth is flat. But from what I've seen, it is 4 fold. Maybe that's why your vibes where misdirected... ~SDC~

Ginata, your vibes reached Paris ;) Therlun, I play mostly medium games. They've all started with Carinoids & Alexians already present. In some of them, I have the fundie & I-league events. In all cases, more or less in mid-game (I don't remember a specific date, but I always seems like it is about the same moment in the development of my game) I have new minors popping up all over the place (right now I only remember the Sandorians). I usually get 3, sometimes 4 of them. But when

I heard about Galciv just prior to the release date. On internet, adiscussion forum I guess. I then bought it directly from stardock on day 1. And Frogboy, selling it directly through download is a great idea (for us dsl & cable users at least). When I saw the support you offered about 1 month after release, I upgraded to Drengin. I hope you managed to receive the money you were due for the retail sales (you & your team really deserve it) --- I saw what you said in another thread, just
I still haven't had an unsuccessful submission (touch wood) . . . but I've noticed that the sending takes ages compared to what it used too (mabye over a minute these days and I have cable
Same here. Dearmad, was your game 1.12, 1.13 or alterian beta? (don't know if it has anything to do with the problem, but with a computer everything is possible) ~SDC~

I don't know if this has been reported before. It has been discussed here about a bug with terror stars, when put in a fleet they have more than one move. What I noticed in my last game is a bit diferent (beyond the previous bug I mean): if I select a fleet of 2 ships which I fleeted again with a TS. A few turns later, when I try to select the whole fleet, only the original fleet of ships moved. I noticed that if it is not the TS that is selected (in the screen where we can see the details o

How will diplomacy work on the scenarios based on alliances? I mean specially about the possibility of my negotiating a peace treaty and not being dragged back to war in the next turn? Maybe the "abandoned" ally could get a compensation from me: money, ships, for x turns, as an indirect war effort help. Then if that is refused, the alliance is terminated and relations drop to cool or something like that.
one strong AI could be The Arnor or other name against all the AIs

Tu as checké la thread sur les fixes for germain and french crashes? Tu peux peutêtre y demander de l'aide directement à Carielf (programmeur (euse en fait) du jeu). Sinon, comme dirait l'autre, j'ai épuisé ma science. :notsure:

I've submitted 2 games with 1.13 and they both registered fine, although when I click on submit, nothing happens and the computer is "sort of" freezed for about one minute. First time I was worried since so many people have reported problems submittiong. But then I had the message saying 1 submitted, 0 errors, and indeed the game was in metaverse a few minutes later. Same on the second time. ~SDC~

I used to restart. I read here many times that it was important to have a good position with many planets. Lately I 've seen many posts about 1planet/sector strategies, and stopped restarting. I've actually won 2 games where there were no other habitable planets in range (medium, uncommom). I think I find it easier (my firts 2 wins in a row in a long time -- and I don't play nowhere near maso), specially if I'm in one of the corners. It seems to me that since the AI is so :much better at grabbin

~SDC~

Well, I was going to submit to the metaverse, just one more enemy planet to go for my alliance or military victory(depending on how my mood towards my ally would be after the invasion), and then ... cultural victory. (bitter victory since not what I had been preparing for a long time ;) ). I decided not to submit since it was not what I had in mind. And what do I discover seconds later: CTD whenever trying to load the save :sniff!: . A lost game (and it is 3h58 AM :sniff!: :sniff!: ) <br
