Quelle version tu as? Je crois que dans la 1.12 en anglais, il y avait un bug, et seulement deux propositions "marchaient". C'est corrigé dans le 1.13. Pour la version française j'imagine que c'est pareil ~SDC~
No problems with seeing it in SDC here. :) Do I need to make a back up of my current galciv directory, or these files will be saved to another location? ~SDC~
the most frequent is over exploitation of minor races too early in the game
Lord Megatron, are you certain of this? And how would you define over-exploitation? (I'm a bit worried for my present game, the first one in months, I would rather having it reported as normal) ~SDC~
As I said in another thread about the poll, I agree with LDiCesare: diminishing returns is the way to go. I think it is more logical, realistic, and help prevent human players from taking advantage of some AI's shortcomings. And it will still allow to have a big bonus if you have an optimal number of starbases. On the other hand, I do need all the advantages I can get, since I don't seem to be able to beat the AI in the latest builds (I had taken a big pause after 1.05, too much work to do
I voted yes but I think there should have been a third option to choose from: yes but with limitations. For example the first starbase gives you the full bonus, the second 90%, the third 80%, etc, until it's not cost effective anymore. You can still have 20 starbases in a sector, but only the first 5-10 will really make a difference, the rest would be just for, maybe the sake of collectioning. ;) But if I had to stick exactly to what is writen "Let starbase abilities stack. Hello brasscorpion. Welcome to the forum. As for your question, it is my understanding you have stardock central installed. So, if you go to the software page (just under the "File" menu), and click in "games" you will see the list of games available to you. When you select Galactic Civilizations, you will be able to see your current version and if any updates are available (you will see it on the left of the screen aswell, after the brief description of the game). Latest v
I am probably the weirdest person here, as I've never played any of the MOO titles.
You are not THAT weird here it seems, or many of us are ;) I didn't know of them until I saw people "describing" it here LOL . I was more of a Shogun et Medieval Total War player. A good game too, and you can defend against spies ;) ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Hello Theoden, It has been a long time indeed. Real life got to interfere with most of the playing time :( These last days things are getting back to normal (ie. just the usual crazy stuf), and I've been catching up on the changes in the game: my last version was 1.05. It seems a lot harder now, and so far my choices have been between enslavement and being cooked for dinner. "But I'm not dead yet" And I'm looking forward for the beta of the expansion. :) <B
I stand corrected about population and taxpayers! But killing all of a kind still is genocide, even if they are taxpayers. ;) From Merriam Webster online: Main Entry: genocide Pronunciation: 'je-n&-"sId Function: noun Date: 1944 : the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group [Message Edited]
Well, I kind of agree with AntonChanning : the whole population shouldn't count as soldiers. And even if you get 20% of them to switch sides, having these 20% help you kill all the 80% left still looks like genocide to me (specially since we are talking about billions of people ! :SURPRISED: (it would be like Rwanda in a planetary scale!) Brazilian (living in France for many years). My wife who also plays the game is Russian.
967 by Citizen Cotal - 8/5/2003 7:04:00 PM I can't wait to have Trade Embargos against other AIs. Is that in 1.09 . . . ?
Yes I think I saw that. But if I remember correctly, the AIs do not have that option. ~SDC~
#965 by Veteran vincible - 8/5/2003 5:30:25 PM I don't like the way that works. It gives you no incentive to defend your trade partners.
On the other hand we can assume that this planet trade partners still need the products it delivered before your took over. And if for strategic reasons you want to help your trade partner, there are other means. If it's not a bug (which would be corrected), it gives more incentive to put money in spying: with the inf
Ray, you amaze me. I've started my first crippling (I think it is that) and after 2 days, I'm still in the beginning. I guess, to quote someone I read in this forum, I must be a complete control freak :)
Both paths have their benefits but the thing that makes good such a bitch is how hard it is to get you alignment high enough for some of the really nice benefits (e.g. trade centers) versus evil.
Indeed; I can't seem to be able to get past chaotic good. I doubt I'll manage any better in my current game: for the moment all the events I had were something like -10,-20% to PQ for the good choice, so I picked neutral. I won't help getting to the saintly mark...
15.38462% - Geek (all due to star trek I guess) Is it good or bad? [Message Edited]
I tend to go for the "good" choices all the time. But I have yet to finish a game with something better than "chaotic good". Yes it makes for a more difficult game, but I like mu games to last long and not be only about war and conquering all the time. It happens but usually I try to make my gestion of the empire the more realistic as I can imagine, a sort of galactic rpg. And for playing good, I guess I grew up with star wars and star trek ;)
In the beta build, the Avatars took out as many corvettes as they had movement points in each turn with minimal damage to themselves.
Thks for the info Ray. There goes my defense strategy in my current game... I guess I'll just have to go back hiding under the desk during ennemy attacks. And hope for the best... ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Is it possible to group the ships in orbit into a fleet (like in space, by selecting and clicking the fleet buton)? I can't remember if the buton is there or not when in orbit. :notsure: ~SDC~
Well Rasta, that's good news. Enjoy the beta, it's very good. By the way you may need to download another file for the beta to work. There is a link in the homepage. ~SDC~
Hi Mike, I 've a firewall too, but no problems. I think you need to be registered here before submitting. It was a long time ago for me, so I don't remember exactly what i did.
Hello Rasta Kyle, As far as I know, for your question #1, I think it's a yes. When I upgraded to drengin net, I remember reading that it gave me acces to all their games, including the ones to come, for the duration of my subscription. For the second question, I have no idea. Maybe you can find some info about it at www.drengin.net
Arrrrrrrrgh! Thanks Geoffrey. Too late unfortunatelly (:( ~SDC~
