Well at least Gore just said foolish things. While Bush says, and as a man of honor, acts upon it ;p

My previous post was a comment of Callipygea post. But LDiCesare posted before I do. By the way, LDiCesare does this method wrok properly? I read somewhere that it would actually increase the enemy pop due to some calculation eeror with integers or something.
I guess this would work but doesn't seem very fair (it's ok for tle human player I think, since he would wim, but for the AI... (:( ). I usually stack a lot of them, and it can take ages. Then I attack. If I have to level the planet surface in orer to take it, I will. But that goes against my better judgement. I usually go for traditional warfare, except if I'm loosing and taking a vital planet from the AI is imperative in order to survive. then, all means to stay alive are justified.
By the way a few threads down there is another one about AMM. Maybe you could have a look there since someone else seemed to confirm what I said. I say this because most of what i know from the game I learned here, reading the posts and then play-checking it. So I feel better telling how (I think) things are, when others voices say something similar ;)
Well Zergfest, that would make sense (destroy the most dangerous enemy ship first). And I agree with you, it would be nice to have the possibility of designate a ship as stack defender. however, as I've said before, it's the one with the highest defense that is attacked first (at least I think so). Except if there is an AMM in the stack: then it goes first. And is always lost.
I think the standalone 1.03 patch is still being prepared for public release. You can get the 1.03.57 version by installing Stardock Central and then downloading it. The program is quite stable and allows you to get all the updates that are made between standalone patches.
Sounds like a good idea!
I had this happening with the Yor screen. But it was before I update to 1.03. Since I've had no problems.
AFAIK, whenever there is an AMM in a stack, when attacked, the AMM will always be the first to be destroyed. Then (I think) the one with the highest defense, as Arturo said. So the best way to protect them is not stacking but making a wall arounf them until their target is within the AMM moving range.
Well they are missiles, so it's kind of "fire and forget". They explode on impact, so are a one time weapon. There is no point in targetting a planet with no ships in orbit. You can't sue AMM to soften the planet defenses. They only work against ships. But they do work very well :D if used properly :notsure: . When ships are stacked I don't know which one is attacked first (I think it's the one with the highest defense). By stoping the damage from an AMM, I assume you
Sixtoes, there is a link for the galciv writer in the mod forum ("GC Mods"). One of the first sticky threads there is about the galciv writer. In one of his posts, HawaiiFive-O gives a link to a site where you can download it. Since I downloaded it last saturday, I'd say it's still there. :) Good luck!
Can't you download it from stardock direcly? It can take foreeeeeeeeever but in the end you will have it :) . ~SDC~
Have you installed all the bonus packs & patches? There is a lot of extra stuff there(ships, events, techs). It's worth downloading. And by the way, I don't know if all the parties made it to the release version of the game. Maybe someone more informed than I can help you more? ~SDC~
Hello Bobo. Once again, I must agree with you :) and with Paguna. George Jones, you can believe what the others told you. In my 3 latest games, I've tried to go another^path in my development, and everytime since I fell behind military, I find myself being pushed around by all others civs. The evil ones tell me that they'll either eat me or use the fumes of my burning flesh to fuel their engines. The good one to surrender immediatly and prepare to be part of their empire. The neutral o
karmegeddon, My impression is that the pace in this game is a lot slower than in homeworld. Since this is turn based, you can take all the time you want. And the game can also develop itself at a slow pace, if you can hold off the AI (by building up some military, just to show that you can defend yourself if needed). I like to play taking my time. All my time ;p . The only time in the game I don't like too much is the very beginning since you must enter the planet-search-rush or
Personnaly I find SDC very handy and reliable. And it allows you ti have the patches more frequently :d
In the higher difficulty levels, the computer player do get an economic bonus. But as far as I know there were non for Intelligent and below. Maybe that was it. In the other levels I haven't noticed anything, and it seems to me that the AI play quite by the same rules we do, as the developpers stated. ~SDC~
Sorry Galactic Hell. When I downloaded the game, I just downloaded and installed everything. So they are all "old" to me ;) . But if you would take a piece of advice, download it! And all the updates that come along. With the kind of support we're getting with this game, I'm certain that whatever they put in there was designed to make the game better, more diversified. :) ~SDC~
G.C., Quoting from the software page in SDC: The BonusPak is a collection of extra ships, events, star base modules, United Planets Resolutions, Technologies [...]. You do not need to download this to play the game. This is extra material." As for proposing laws in the United Planets (that's what you meant, right?), I think it's not possible. (:( However, in the mod forum, there is a thread about the "galciv writer", that allow you to create your onw UP propositions. M
Well, this happened to me very soon in a game, so I'm certain I hadn't spent anything on espionage in any races. I was playing with the "luck" and "creativity" hability bonus (I don't know if this is relevant but since it was really a struck of good luck, well, it seemed so :) ). I was at war with the Drengin, loosing badly, long behind in miliary and tech. The Altarians and some minor races were at wea with them as well. Then I had this information screen, telling me that a joint-co
Dave Richardson, In one of my games the Yor got about 90 precursors corvettes. I too was reluctant to attack them. So just to be in the safe side I brought a ship with very high defense and hit points (dont remember which one though, either a battle hammer or a dreadnought) and let it nearby these corvette stack, in the way between them and my starbase. They attacked, and were destroied one by one, my ship taking only very little damage. In my tirn I used it to attack, and since it had 9 mov
Sorry, I forgot to answer, maybe my morale is geting high as well... More seriously, I remember a long discussion here (but the thread seems to have sink in the abyss of this forum) about "best solution for wasted resources". Maybe you can try doing a search in here. It seems to me that the main cause of it was that the resources were wasted when not alocated to anything. So I guess the answer to your question is, as rainmanblack put it, "wasted I believe". And so do I
LOL Well, lately, in most of my planets, morale has been "high" Maybe this wasn't caused by the updates after all... ;p ~SDC~
What I understood is that a negative treasury lowers morale. And at some point, a very high treasury (over 30k) would provoque a negative effect (some kind of curruption that lower your income or production bonuses - -don't remember). However, once again, I've just arrived from work, and my brain is down, so I wouldn't remember where I saw it. BUT i'm almost positive :notsure: ~SDC~
Bobo, I love your syntaxe :D . And good spirit ;)
