I was told not to mix beta files with the full downloaded version, but you're right: I was not told to not mix the full version files with the beta... Maybe I should try that. On the other hand, in my version of the beta there are still a few bugs that have certainly been dealt with in the released version. And from what I heard in the journals the AI was improved during the gama test, so maybe i'll wait till 21st to see th game at its best (and not just looking good ...)

more or less 1,3 Go and more than that as available disk space since the installation process, on my computer, required about 2Go (temp files, etc)
Hi Weyrleader I've had this problem too, yesterday, along with a few others. Have you checked this thread: https://www.galciv2.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=162&AID=100888#790361 that's where we discussed it, and in the end got it to work. Good luck
I had that problem (galciv not showing) but after unistalling and reinstalling the very last version, it downloaded fine (california server). It just completed the full download a few minutes ago. But I guess I'll only know if everything is fine the 21st ...
I was told to copy the folder where the beta is somewhere else. I just renamedit galciv2beta and installed the full version on another folder (as you suggest in your post). I just launched it and it worked (I did not try to play though, but apparently it was fine)
Same Here After a few trials it worked fine and very very fast OS: WinXP SP2 Server: california Purchase Method: totalgaming account Connection Type: DSL modem Now, just have to wait till the 21st ... I feel like when the first download atempt failed: so close, yet so far ...
I sincerely wanted to put off the whining to a later date, but after cancelling the download (after about 10 minutes, still at 0%) and restarting it, it restarted at the first file. I see some serious potential for improvement in SDC. I couldn't get the resume function to work properly either. But aft
One Eye I was in the same situation. After uninstalling and reinstalling following these 6 steps (#14) it worked for me
hmmm. Doesn't this force you to put most of your navy in the same stack. I mean If you spread out your forces and the enemy has all there ships In one massive fleet, then your screwed even if you have a much larger navy than them You can have some sort of warning system. Following someone's sugg
1. I d/l the Stardock central version from the link given by Frogboy and installed. 2. I got an email from support with my codes 3. I verified I still had the right codes in "registration info" (I had) 4. For GalCiv2 I had no code as I had not ordered it separately as it is meant to be a bonus for old games subscribers (before tokens) 5. I had the brigh
I had the same thing as monoxism and YumCimil - after auto-updating StardockCentral to 2.29a, GalCiv2 wasn't there no matter what I tried, but after I uninstalled SDC an installed it from scratch - bingo, everything is fine and I can download. I'll try that... So close, yet so far away <
Just had an error at about 78%. I think my internet connection dropped and that cause the following: Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\gc2\production\gc2.xml 1 Load: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\gc2\production\gc2.xml 1 Download: C:\DOCUME~1\PABLOM~1.LEM\LOCALS~1\Temp\sdcentral\gc2.sdc 0 | Attempt: 1 | -19 Connection was closed by the server Download: C:\DOCUME~1\PABLOM~1.LEM\LOCALS~
And my server is back to california - when i reinstalled stardock from that link it was back to that one. it worked fine

From what I understand we of the old subscription system should get GalCiv2 without tokens, as these appear in the new system. I had access and had the beta on my disk during beta. I too have the old subscription. and i think that it is my old serial number from the subscription that is registered on
On a related matter, can I move the downloaded files from my desktop to my laptop, or will I have to pre-load twice? Hope not. As far as i remember from galciv1 , as long as you archive it (with sdc) and reinstall that archive with sdc on another computer, it should work
Hi monoxism, YumCimil I hadn't seen your post when I posted. I guess that was not it. Frogboy posted in another thread that he would be online in the chat section. Maybe someone from stardock can help you there
I don't even see GalCiv2 in the list that's strange. I have it. Just started again (much slower 40-50kb/s I guess more people are at it) I know I have "shox pre release versions" checked. Maybe that's it. Good luck
Thanks Frogboy. And I should say that they were there at 2:30 pm. And thanks for the heads up on SDC. (when i launched it , it did not prompt for an update as it usually does).
So ordered I guess we jumped the gun... I got a bit mixed up with the time differential. It's only when I posted that I saw it was just about 14h30 ("stardock time") when i started downloading I had to cancel it anyway because it was a little to big for the HD i was installing it to. When it got to the
Hello Steevodeevo I've just had the same problem: -- [Application] ---------------------------------------------------- Name: Stardock Central Path: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral Version: 2.24a[b].182, build: 113 -- [Installing] ----------------------------------------------------- Name: Galactic Civilizations II App Id: gc2 Installed: False Version: 1.0.005 Type: production Reg Key: GalCiv2 Ins
langev : thanks for the info Nakor: Thks for the warning too. I'll do as you say. Even if it is only a beta it's still great and it would be a pity not to have it at least to pass the time until the 21st.
That's great news. One question: can I still play the beta i have on my computer once I start downloading the new files? I'd like to keep playing around with it, to pass the time... it makes the waiting easier...
If they can ever be bothered to answer the emails sent to them that is I guess I got lucky! My email was replied to within 4 hours! They'll have something for those who have the game through the prior totalgaming system, like me, and for 25$ we can get the boxed v
