Kyle: go to the Metaverse section and re-register yourself. Later registrations overwrite earlier ones. The nickname you give in Metaverse registration corresponds to the alias you should supply when submitting your scores. ~SDC~

I. The Problem The GalCiv autopilot behaves in a manner counterintuitive to the expectations of strategy game veterans. It determines implicitly when an autopilot order is to be executed, and the rules for that determination are not always apparent. Because almost all ships will be on autopilot all the time, the net result is that it can be difficult to dynamically react to gameplay situations as ships that may have otherwise been useful under unpredictable circumstances will have ex

(well, to correct, they'll happen at EOT if they haven't happened already, but it isn't consistent) I'd also like to be able to turn off automatically scheduled autopiloting entirely, while keeping stored paths and having a "continue move now" button for each ship, along with a "continue all moves" button so I can control it all if desired. ~SDC~

I'd give it an 8 and rising. It's a good game, and Brad's support is legendary. He essentially gave away massive (in game terms) Entrepreneur expansion packs as patches. ~SDC~

The second review's been up--it's probably the one you read. It's not much more favorable. I think the reviewer makes a couple of valid points (watching 75 corvettes wander around really isn't that much fun, for example). He hosed the overall objectivity of his review, though, when he implied the AI was cheating. I fail to see how the discussion could have become anything more than an argument at that point. I do agree that we're long past constructive at this point. <B

If you want to change the nick displayed in the forums and on the metaverse board, go to www.wincustomize.com and edit your account there. The "Nick" is what's displayed. If you want to change your metaverse submission name (which is currently not displayed anywhere), change it from the Metaverse section of galciv.com. ~SDC~

vince: I see a score from 3/30 under your name. Is that the one you're referring to? Kyle: you somehow have an email addy as your metaverse addy. You might try using [email protected] as your submission alias (not just email). If that doesn't work, go to the Metaverse section and change it to something without punctuation in it; it may not handle special characters. juice99: no clue. Keep in mind that the metaverse was broken for some people until a few patches ag

Brad: I think the vast majority of the people are happy with the situation as it stands. You just have some issues to work out with SDC usability, but I think you know that already. Once a couple of standalones come out and people settle in a bit, there'll be less noise. ~SDC~

Speaking as someone who's done release engineering, building a Wyse installer isn't -that- bad. It's pretty much point and click, then stick on a website. The biggest problem with it in this situation is determining which patch deltas you're going to support. IOW, in order to release the 1.02 patch in a way that'll upgrade -any- version sitting on your system, it'd pretty much have to be the 84MB file everyone bitches about. IMO, the other concerns Brad raises could be fixed with bac

I've seen the bug you're referring to. Frogboy's fixed some screen update issues, but there are some still remaining. Report anything specific you find in the bug reports thread sticked at the top of the forums. In the meantime, download some of the minor patch fixes (and 1.02) from StardockCentral to get what fixes there are in (I believe the planet list is one of them). ~SDC~

Oh, and Ash, you've seen ships that won't and socials that will? In my experience, military -always- transfers and social -never- transfers over. It's actually rather confusing, and I bugged it. ~SDC~
