I almost always manage to get my constructors out before the AI in challenging and below. Above challenging, all bets are off, because I've never played. "I won't pay for galciv until it has a multiplayer mode." *dies laughing* Oh, man, oh, man, oh, man. Guess *wheeze* you will be saving *pauses while rolling around on the floor* yourself some money, then. *promptly bursts out laughing again, uncontrollably, until he dies, again (he had an amulet of lifesaving on the first time)*
It also could be a spyware or adware program. If you recently downloaded Kazaa, go to your control panel, select add/remove programs, select "SaveNow", and then hit remove. There are other adware programs that come with various freeware apps, so you can check the program list for anything that looks similar to that.
Back the fleet out of that square, then right click on it again. Sometimes it happens, but it's easily worked around. You don't have to do anything unusual to attack a minor.
Also, along the same vein, if you have allies and you set up an embargo, will your allies be forced to do the same, as in times of war? It seems that an embargo, in the game as in real life, would be useless if you could not get several people to enforce it. Think about it, if you set up an embargo against someone, then they would just go somewhere else. If you have two allies out of five remaining majors, the target of the embargo will be forced to trade with the fifth race, not in your alli
It is SO not obvious that ships heal up to the newer tech automatically . . . But, it actually is -relatively- obvious, after once through the game. Otherwise, how would you explain corvettes that had five attack and four defense that you'd had around for a while? Or how would you explain that new ships you were building of any given class had the same power as ships that had been out for a while, even though the ones that had been out had never been retrofitted? All that not
Sorry, Quack, I didn't try to see it from your point of view. I should have been more careful in my writing. I'm not going to go into a long explanation of what I was thinking (how BORING! :) ), but I think your rules make more sense than either mine or MM77's (sorry MM77, I have to go with what I BELIEVE!). If I write any more story for this epic, Blue's black-market "assistant" is going to be named "Nameless Peon." For the record, I DO know how to swim! Although, the AM shotgun d
Thanks for the clarification, MM77. Your idea does sound better than mine, so let's do that.
I think in addition to MM77's rule of only posting one chapter per day, we should add these few to the rules list for stories/sagas. 1) Do not pump up your character/characters/organizations besides CariElf up to you point where they have god-like or completely irresistable powers. It makes for less interesting reading than a bunch of at least semi-believable characters. 2) Do not suddenly change the alignment or strength of another character in a story to anything other than
Sargeant Hard thought for a moment about what that antimatter shotgun had done to his boss, and his friend. Then, he slowly nodded. He would enjoy this hunt. . . The Voyage - Chapter 5 As usual, all was quiet in near space, 300 miles above the surface of Skowbo II. Blue was contemplating the wondrous experiences he had undergone there, and questioning his own choice of shooting the duck. It might have been a bad move. What if it really had been psychic? All sorts of complic
PS. To TheQuack, you know I love you, man!
If you thought the last part was good . . . The Voyage - Chapter 3 Blue woke to the smell of smoke and decay, suppressed sunlight streaming through cracks in the metal above him. Groaning, he pushed the cover of the stasis tube down, getting it out of his way. He stood slowly, surveying the carnage around him. The crash had completely destroyed his ship. There were countless gashes along the side, and the top was completely ripped off. Blue climbed to the edge of t
I've been working on this for a little while, so I'll start it now. This one is dedicated to CariElf, but it goes out to you, TheQuack! Two chapters per post, four in the story. I'll post the other two tonight or tomorrow. The Voyage - Chapter 1 It was stifling. The marsh's boggy air oppressed all living things within to the point that little life above a proto-cellular level could survive within. Some compared it to hell on Earth, or in this case, Skow
T-Man, you are indeed the man! Thanks. I don't know how that happened, but I'll make sure to check next time. Thanks!
Cotal, you've gotta be connected to the internet for the dialogue to work. If you weren't but want to try it again, just load the last autosave.
This is DJ Blue Ocean spinning your nightly hits at W.C.a.r.i.E.l.f. 104.6a, but before we continue to our regularly scheduled musical nirvana, I want to send out a SPECIAL THANKS to a bunch of people. First, a special thanks to CARIELF, because you're the best! Or course, who else would I thank first!? Second, I would like to thank Bobo and Alakh R. Dowd, for keeping OPEN MINDS! You guys are awesome! Also thanks to MM77 for YOUR CONFIDENCE IN ME. I APPRECIATE it.
I normally agree with most of what Bobo says. However, in this case, I'm going to have to disagree. I think that you should know that the people here, for the most part, are not completely serious (me, for instance; I'd like to think that CariElf thinks something I say is funny, but I don't care that much, and I certainly don't -really- want her to send me any vampires or whatever else; it's a joke). But it's a joke that you pretend is reality, because it would lose its effectiveness otherwis
I've submitted one game twice now, and it has not shown up either time. I scored 16000 points (wrong, somehow, way too high). My submissions were working correctly up until the most recent two versions 1.04.059, and 1.04a.062. Neither of the two submissions are working, and I'm sure my alias is correct. What could be the problem!?
Thanks much, Staffa. I think I'm going to hope for the mercy of the Devs (or the next metaverse overhaul! :) ), and I won't hold my breath.
I know we all love the oldies (or, for some of us, the not so oldies), and I thank D.J. MM77 for bringing them to us. He has such good taste! However, most of those were before my time, and I can only play the stuff I know. So, without any further ado, let me bring you the pop-rock sound of Nine Days, with Absolutely (The Story of a Girl). ". . . Your clothes never wear as well the next day And your hair never falls in quite the same way You never seem to run out of
"ah, but I could just get this code to run on a robot. It won't stop after 20 times, and cheap party hats are plentiful. Meanwhile, I can sidle in, ask CariElf what she thinks of my adorable little bot, and take it from there..." Do you not recall that CariElf claimed that she didn't like evil? That she preferred healers in RPGs? That she never plays the bad side? Do you think your VIOLENCE tactics are going to IMPRESS her? Honestly, I had hoped, as a fan, you would ha
Is there any way to revert to previous versions of the game if we want to check what our score -would- have been? I'm really sad because I got a score of 13000 something on a really good game I played, but it really doesn't mean anything, does it? Not unless I see what it would have been compared to my other scores. If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it. Edited to say: BTW, since the game hasn't updated yet, it's a tiny normal game . . . 13000!? We'll see. Maybe there wi
The Quack: With your previous post, you seem to have MISUNDERSTOOD some things about me. First of all, you seem to think that having a :CONGRAT: hat shoved down my throat might somehow dissuade me from pursuit of the divine CariElf. On the contrary, were a fate so wonderful as actually being WITH her the prize, twenty or thirty party hats RIGHT IN THE BELLY would not even make me BLINK. Your implied fear of party hats being shoved down throats thus leads me to question your dep
Could work. I guess I'm not smart enough to know! :D Good luck at it though.
It seems to complicated. Even though the AI is object oriented, it's still all code, and complex code that requires evaluation routines and all that too. And you know they're not going to let anyone have the source, and I don't think they're going to want to create a new appliance to edit the AI. Again, I'm not stardock, but when you evaluate everything, I think it's safe to say that the chances of this happening are slim.
