Only difference with how I manage the empire is I never allow it to go negative.
When starting out I like to use the 1000BC as a buffer to get my new empire started. My buffer goes to -499. When I get to this number I adjust my spending slider to be just slightly about ZERO. By the time I get to this number I have 3 traderoutes making money for me with a 4th traderoute about to start. Keep monitoring the slider and keep adjusting it so that your spen

I do not know if anyone has bothered to figure out the percentage. The greater your diplo bonus is the easier and better trades you will get. Also, the level of the AI affects your trades as well. The higher the AI is the worse your trade will be. For instance a trade with an AI set to normal may net you 50BC for 20 months. A Trade with that same AI set to Incredible (MASO) will net you 2 BC for 2 months. Note: when playing maso it is better to trade Tech for Tech than Te

Gamehat, you should be aware that colonizing planets below PQ15 early in the game is dangerous to your income. It costs more to maintain these planets because they are not ideal for humans. Use of soil, habitat, terraforming enhancements during the game will increase the PQ (planet quality) thus allowing faster population increase on these planets.
Anyone ever have a minor get this aggressive after you bribe them like I did?
The only thing that I can think of was that you inadvertantly killed one of their ships. A minor will typically not start a war with the human player. In fact I do not know if I have ever seen a minor start a war with me.
Can you believe that until reading the above post, I didn't realize you could "diplomacize" with the minor races? Can you believe it? Cuz I sure can't.
I think that you could do this with the first couple of versions of the game. Then Stardock changed much of the way the 2 minors interacted in the game. You could no longer spy/destablize them. You could no longer ally with them. You could no longer trade/buy thier ships.
Also if you leave orbit can you get back to orbit status?
A colony ship cannot achieve orbit status once it leaves. If you try to orbit the planet with a colony ship the ships population will be added equally to all popluated planets in that star and the ship will disappear.
Also if you auto launch does that mean my colony ships would launch without my say on how much pop goes in?
Half of the planets population will be added to the colo

Qwerk and Peace are correct. Take your time and be consistant and you will get there. If you are a person that likes to crank out games then read the MASO strategy threads and you will find the formula for MASO/LARGE map 60K alliance wins. Perhaps you can be the person to beat Technician! Tech plays about 3-4 games per day. I think he has the game down to a half hour. I have said before that he must be insane ... There are a lot of old timers that have stopped
Well, I use propaganda to raise morale. I don't know is someone is trying to destablize me.
The only time I use propaganda to raise my moral is if the morale is at a critical level like below 25. Other wise I try to rush build/buy something that will raise the morale. One way to know if you are being destablized (I think) is to be spying on the other AI. Having said that I will state now that I never use spying or destabilization because I consider it

I am pretty sure that the max population is 100,000. I have played a lot of games and I have only seen this limit reached a very few times and it has always been by one of the minor AI that I just culturally flipped. [Message Edited]
Comparing 220 games to 40 games is a bit silly:
While I do agree with some of your statements here there is some problems with both of our conclusions. Stardock kept changing the scoring system for the game. Sometimes drastically. This too has had a great effect on the Metaverse game. For the most part I have played 10 - 15 games per month (there was a short time when I was layed off that I played more) I have been playing for over a year. If the scoring

Well written Qwerk, I do not agree with some of your points on playing style. But that is ok. If we were all in agreement there would be no wars ... :) You adopted your playing style to suite the Metaverse scoring. That won't suite everyone. Some people like to play a lot of games for (I hope) the satisfaction and for the "metaverse game". I feel that players should not have to adjust their style of play to get points and advance in the metaverse. <b

bug on AP v1.51 One recent bug report in another thread is about trade routes that for some reason stop working and indicate N/A. As far as I can tell these never restart. I usually delete them and start them over again. Usually this fixes that traderoute. But, sometimes the traderoute goes N/A again. This happened to me last game. Very annoying. [Message Edited]

Personally I like the idea of the metaverse. I do not like the aging or the recalculation of the scores. I see no reason why the metaverse could not just keep the raw game score. There are several people that have been playing for a long time and you want to keep them. Their scores should reflect that. There are people playing for the first time and you want to encourage that as well. Perhaps dividing the metaverse into skill levels for score. All skills have the
Have you tried Moser expanded anomaly mods?
Actually the only mod I have ever tried is the research party mod and I tried that only just recently. I was going to install the saint pack mod so that I can try to go goody two shoes earlier.
It happens when a planet is captured. Instead of killing the route, it gives you a zero-value route.
I would agree partly. I have seen this sometimes happen but not always. I have killed the N/A route and restarted a trade route between the same planets. The N/A kicks in again once it reaches the destination planet.
