The Quack: I loved the daddy-daughter day story. Hurley: Baby Pax also thought the second link of the Tassie Devil was cute... she tried to either kiss or eat the picture on the screen, not sure which. Dog, Dingo, Tazmanian Devil whatever, let me know what I am... as long as it's furry. Mrs. Pax has insisted on two conditions: 1. She's not moving from the Doom. She saw what a mess you guys made of the Waltzing Matilda and she does not want to have to clean up af

Cypher 42% Mrs. Pax 4% - mostly from things I inflicted on her. She cannot tolerate the following: Star Wars Monty Python Video Games Role Playing Games Science Fiction Fantasy Using a computer for anything other than email This explains a lot as to why I have so much trouble finding time to play games... Oh, well... Great link though.
The Iron Chef – Torian Sushi Challenge Today on the Food Network, the Iron Chef’s Torian Sushi Challenge The host appears in lavish Japanese robes. The entire show is in Japanese with a bunch of subtitles. Imagine LOTS of conversation, but few subtitles – this is the reason I have never watched an entire episode so I apologize if I get something wrong. Torian Sushi is a delicacy across the galaxy. First introduced in Drendin cuisine, Torian was a staple food, not
Dear GROSS, This is one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in meta. GROSS no longer meets my high intellectual standards. I am sick of being in a stagnant empire. Also, your literary skills don't quite measure up to my expectations for fellow gamers as I prefer messages (including strategy posts) to follow a story arc. I have decided to defect to the pirates of the South Seas. As you can see my points have put GROSS in first place. I want an empire where I
Arcalian, Unless you're talking about the Caranoids, planets will flip to you eventually no matter how well defending they are. If you're stronger than the Torians, you can start putting culture mods on Star bases in their terriority without them complaining (this works at Tough or lower), or ruining your alliance. There planet should start flipping to you. Once that happens your influence will overwhelm the Yor... The Yor also seem to slow to react when atta
Hey South Seas mates, If you didn't see the KFD post (Threadzilla #1885), I had you guys recruiting an old friend from your ANZAC days to be your barmaid. Perhaps, Bakka with feel at home on the Keelhaul now... Any Bakka sightings lately? Cheers, Cypher
Got a great start a new game, knocked out all the minors (Alexians, Caranoids, and Yor) with a survery ship. I typically like to leave the Caranoids, but I had a bad starting position system-wise (great for resources) and I couldn't leave them their 26 PQ. Despite a long work week, I should be able to maintan a game/week. I'd love to hold first for a while this time... Happy Raiding, Cypher
A Story for Pontius: KFD Expose KFD has served trillions and trillions across the galaxy, but few people realize the truth. The ‘D’ in Kentucky Fried Drendin is not in jest as most people suppose, they are actually eating fried, crispy Drendin. Today, GNN will tell you the shocking story of that is sure to ruin the successful franchise: Misty? Okay, we’re switch to a video depicting the creation of the first KFD franchise. <

A story for EBZ: A space version of walking the plank. Cypher Pax was exhausted. He had though upgrading the Military Design Computers to accommodate designing the non-conventional weapons of Wild Wombat and Killa Koala had been difficult. However, the rush installation of space ship solariums has worse. Mrs. Pax had him install a solarium with a gazebo and all it had become the rage amoung the pirate wives. Now, many of the pirate vessels contained small solariums with gazeb
Just posted a 11 K tough, medium game. Am now in the Top 10 for medium boards, if I continue to rise I'm post my strategy for middling players on medium maps. ;) I think I'm got a system to get 10-11 k without having to milk... Happy Raiding, Cypher [Message Edited]
Great stories.... shouldn't have been reading them at work. My work isn't that funny.... most of the time. Thanks - Killa and Wombat - you've improved my day. - Cypher
On an abundant medium, I once found a sector with 4 stars, with a total of 8 habitable planets (and 4 20+s). One had 3 20+ systems, a 15, and a 16. I had to take that from the Yor really quickly ... becuase they were even starting to do well. I don't know if there was a Precursor event because one planet was a 28 and the other was a 27 and it was still early enough in the game that only Soil Enhancement has been built. One system had 2 habitable plantets, one a 22, and the ot
Does evil have an affect on morale? Are your people afraid of you... I don't know if it's just my playing style (I don't build morale enhancers on planets), but I have a harder time with planet morale and elections playing Chaotic Good, the Evil... the only 2 elections I've ever lost were playing good. Playing evil, I don't even worry about it Is this just in my head? -Cypher ~SDC~
I tend to produce a lot of frigates, so I tend to skip battleships and wait for Dreadnaughts. The only time I buy battleships is if I haven't suppressed the only civs with my frigates and I need to keep up... but even if they produce a few battleships before I get dreadnaughts I can swarm them with frigates and then reduce my maintenance... -Cypher
Cypher Pax glanced up at the battle board. It was the dominant factor of the war room towering almost 45 ft tall. It projected a 2-dimensional map of the theater of war and Cypher got navigate through a series of menus by pointing…. The board could bring up reports on technology, the domestic situation, and foreign relations. He could report on any system or planet he controlled. In the center of the room was a three-dimensional holographic projection of the universe. Terminals ringe
It's sunday night, I actually played 2 hours of GalCiv... which is 2 hours more than I played last week. Toasted the Altarians, Yor have 4 systems, Drendins 3, but the Arceans and the Torians might take a little longer. Hmmm... can't decide whether or not to take out the Drendin or protect them from the Torians until they flip. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions... Sounds like we're all at out desks tonight. Too bad the transporter isn't a real technology ... it's be much mor
Arghhhh..... Worked a 90 hour week and then PUT UP A GAZEBO this weekend (Kit, it was only Cedar). The pond landscaping project is dead, because Mrs. Pax was reasonable when the estimates came back... Just signed up for a new project and my hours are going to continue to be heavy the next couple of weeks, but I'll be on the boards now and then - and will try and get in a game or two before the expansion comes out. Hurley - I just popped you an email. Cheers, Cyp
Nice job, Kit!
Serafin, The Excalibur is in the upgrade. If you're just waiting for the serial number, don't worry. Make sure to save your save games right before you will. When you register, you'll be able to submit your game then. -Cypher
I loved the Privateer 2 reference -- that was a great game! [quote]He is in a heavy fighter, in unfamiliar space. He remembers that he is a privateer, and his nav-comp says he is delivering Brilliance to New Constantinople. The radar screen lights up, and three Talon fighters appear. Pirates! One of them broadcasts, "You're about to suck void, buddy!". Quack sees two militia fighters approaching, and heads towards their protection. One of the militia fighters hails him, and says "Stand
I get this a lot as well. It first occurs when I: 1. Have been playing for several hours. 2. I initially come across the crash in a turn where a lot of activities occur at once (i.e. events, social improvements, wonder annoucement, etc.) If I reload it will happen again and again (on subsequent turns) until I open and exit Galactic Civilizations (which suggests the whatever condition causes the crash is cleared in context of a normal shutdown). This has happened throug
Congrats to everyone! :HOT: I probably have time to finish my game this weekend, since I didn't help in the push this week -- maybe I can help keep up some momentum. Welcome to our new South Seas Pirates... if they continue to recruit ... we'll be their franchise. I wonder if that was their plan all along... LOL Cheers, Cypher
Count Dooku, I have an LCD flat panel monitor and it is not good for gaming since the resolution is limited.cf I don't play games that need a high refresh rate, but I've heard that doesn't work well. The lack of resolution bothers me in other circumstances as well. If fact, my 21" CRT monitor is still at my workstation and the flat panel is in my office for when I need to the desk space... My LCD flatpanel is a couple of years old so I don't know how much they have i
