Any one of the higher-ups care to explain just why it is that sometimes, no matter how perfectly matched we are, some alien races absolutely WILL NOT ally with me- meaning they won't go above "friendly" relations with my race. I am talking saintly/saintly, with tons and tons of trade between us, both in the form of the diplomacy window and in the form of freighters, we've known each other and had good relations since forever... wtf? I have given away to them techs that they themselves

Do you find its better to simply make shipyards and shipyard-style buildings in every colony that you have, or is it better to have a core group of ship producing colonies? I would think the latter would be more efficient- or at least I used to, but after playing the game for some time I strongly suspect it is the former, especially in the light of the whole "if you don't build anything in that colony, the production is wasted" thing.

The first time I heard asshat was from someone using a shared somethingawful password. I always assumed it came from there, or thereabouts, anyway. Oh and bobo: Are you by any chance the kind of monkey that gets 'kuru'? That being, the disease in which you eat the brains of your dead community members, thereby inheriting the debilitating degenerative brain disorder that killed them, showcasing both viral evolution and your own inability to see cause and effect? *takes a deep

I admit this game is different from what I expected, but not in the same way as moo3. However, I must confess that you voiced all of my frustrations with the game, albeit less than eloquently. I take these as problems to be overcome *by me*, though, not as critical game structure flaws. That aside, if you are that dissatisfied with the game, how come you aren't using the universal game-buyer mating call to express your displeasure? IIRC, it goes something like

"Give me X amount of money, human fool!" "Hmmmm... my financial statement would make a fantastic golf score. Not even Tiger Woods has ever won a game with negative strokes. LetmethinkNO." "You're braver than you look." "No, just poor." Ahem... in response to ray: "No, just bored."

I like to think of it as a positive thing. Lord knows I go insane trying to make sure that every single one of my starbases a: has all the available resource mining upgrades, no easy task given the rate at which I get techs later in the game. b: is defended c: has all the relevant upgrades -is it in a trade route (mine or the computer's)? Would a ship repair module help? How about defense? Should I finally build a +attack module (I NEVER have)? etc-.

"..and what the hell is up with that smugglers video?!? You are a sick and twisted man you know that?" What are you referring to? What happens in the video? "Since AOL, in general, is evil, I'm guessing it has something to do with that." LOL! P.S. If you haven't already, you could use the Sun crusher as a replacement for the Terror Star.

Which game are you working on! I MUST KNOW! ! So far as making maps bigger- if they got any bigger your hard drive would explode. Either that or the game would take a year, alright- a year PER TURN. The damn game would turn into moo3, a macromangement nightmare with too many details and not enough skill involved to make it worthwhile.

I have never seen the AI turn around during a race to a colony or resource -even when its clear that I am going to beat the AI there,- but as for them knowing where everything is, read the text that shows up when you first start a game, CAREFULLY. They've already explored space. Anyways, does anyone else think it would be cool to keep the look of alien ships when you trade for them? Having a unique precursor ship look wouldn't be bad either.

I agree about the freighters- though I find that its best to PURCHASE starbases and simply sell techs for as much money as possible, without neglecting the 'pay me this much PER TURN, CHUMP! HAHAHHAHAA' slider on the trade window.

Well, I didn't have any problems, though I agree it may be a bit more complicated than it could be. Given the nature of their business model though, I think its a decent solution. I mean come on, you setup stardock and you download- unless you have some problem downloading (are you a 56k mortal? THEN GET OFF THE INTERNET! BAHAHAHAHAHA :P), it really shouldn't be an issue... Now, if you want to see 'sucks', go take a look at the customer support for the Xodus/Matrix modchips (

I saved my game after getting a report of an 'evil force' upon one of my planets. Upon resuming the game, I prepared for the arrival of this dread force, and I waited. And waited. And waited. And uh... I think I've been stood up -_-;. WTF?
