To say nothing, which you don't, of all those that work to make companies even richer. You kvetch about those friends and family you must help, but others, other citizens, you are suspect of them.
You obviously didn't read through my response. As far as "kvetching" about others, doesn't charity start at home? Wouldn't our society be better off if everyone made sure they were taking care of their own? Also, plenty of "others" in society, including many family me
I don't see you, KFC, or you, Jill, crying to everyone about how hard times are for you. That's what I find crass and divisive.
Crass? Really? I didn't get any sympathy from anyone when my family was eating bean soup and cornbread for 3 days a week, making our own clothes, chopping our own wood in order to heat our house that my parents built with their own hands. But I didn't cry about hard times when I had them. I'm not crying now because I'm not havi
I do have trouble with the characterization, as black and white, the notion that taxes are taking from the rich and giving to the undeserving poor.
I never put anything in black and white. Obama is the one saying he wants to decide who has more than they "need" and spread the wealth to those he figures needs it more.
I am all about reducing tax breaks for the rich.
This sounds a lot like "refund adjustment". Reducing tax breaks = raising taxe
I don't think it's personal toward you Jill, so much as just a seething resentment in general toward the attitudes of the wealthy in a time of financial uncertainty that threatens to crush the rest of us.
Do you think that all of the people that "the wealthy" care about are wealthy too? I will tell you personally that although we are doing well financially (we've lost scary amounts in the market though), people we love, friends and family, aren't. When the people I

If you follow the presidential race you've probably heard about "Joe the Plumber". His question, Obama's answer and debates I've seen here on JU and in other places have lead me to the conclusion that the class warfare that is going on today leaves people with the sentiment that if you are just starting out on the American Dream then we're behind you but once you've achieved it you become a greedy bastard (unless you are in entertainment). Work hard, save your money and you will s

What boggles me is that the same people who are willing to kill viable babies in the name of womens' rights will defend murderers and protest against capitol punishment because an innocent person might possibly slip through the system and be put to death. Late term, partial birth and post birth killings are certain to kill the innocent.
The picture shows the bigottry and small mindedness of those who post it, not of the posted person. If we get upset at everything that is said about politicians we like or dont, we would not have much time to enjoy life.

To me it illuminates the fear from the opposition to do and say anything to win.
Excellent way of putting it. I wanted to say I didn't condemn it but didn't have a good way of explaining why but that pretty much says it. I don't like

All of the headlines are about how McCain is now running attack ads. It is called mudslinging and is looked upon as bad...I guess. Why is it bad though? I think that the candidates should point to each other's character. I think who the candidates friends and mentors are is very important. I'm sick of hearing things like, "He no longer associates with..." Well, if they ever associated with terrorists, radicals and especially if they got money or a leg up
Jill should be worrying about McC's quitting Michigan.
Why should I be worried? MI is never a toss up state no matter what they always like to say.
The cure is a depression and people will come together the only worry is will we elect a presidetn or a dictator?
I never said the cure was a depression. I just wish this could be the wake up call to knock some sense in those who take no responsibility and have no sense of pride in providing for their own. I certainly think we need to worry about having a government that dictates rather than serves. We're getting very close.
If McCain deserved to win, he would be passionately defending the American people against what Obama really is.
Now this I totally agree with. McCain needs to take the gloves off and get angry if he's going to win. He keeps saying he'd rather lose the race and put our country first. Well if he really means that, he needs to fight. He needs to put our country first and not let it be handed over to a party that wants to CHANGE Everything about it not just
Obama, by contrast, deserves to win. I don't agree with Obama on any major issues. But he knows why he wants to be President. Obama thinks the country, as it is today, is fundamentally flawed and that him and his Democratic congress will start to address those flaws. I think Obama is naive and foolish but I have to give credit to someone who truly believes in his cause. McCain, on the other hand, has no cause other than to be President. Let me give you
Let's have doctors try that and see what happens. "Hey, buddy looks like you're crying blood. Not sure what's causing that, but let's just try stuff and see what happens."
That's pretty much what doctors do a good deal of the time. Do you really think doctors know exactly what is happening to their patients all the time? How do you know that "Man did it" isn't a misdiagnosis (to go along with your analogy) and that our subsequent "cure" isn't going to kill us

No matter what Biden says, "fairness" shouldn't be in our political dialogue. Life ain't fair...deal with it! Yeah, that means some people might have to work cleaning toilets or flipping burgers just to feed their kids and have a roof over their heads. But basics like having food and shelter aren't what we are striving for anymore. Everyone thinks they now have the "right" to a cell phone, Nike sneakers, HD TV and a new car. Americans need a swift kick in the as

It all started when people stopped taking personal responsibility. People stopped living withing their means and took pride in hard work and providing for their own without taking handouts. It started when people expected to have what everyone else has whether they were working and saving for it or not.
The one thing I really didn't expect from the debate was how well I liked Joe Biden.
Had you known much about him prior to the debate? I mean had you seen him speak before? Just as I believe that outside influences shouldn't be a determining factor in who won the debate, I also don't think you should base your opinion of someone off from one experience either.

Next thing they'll come up with their own salute that they'll do as they shout Obama! Obama doesn't scare me as much as the people pulling his puppet strings. They sure have orchestrated a revolution. I agree there are plenty of things that need to be fixed with the way our country is being lead right now but I don't want to CHANGE to socialism and I HOPE we don't end up with a benevolant dictator.
