At the risk of spamming my own thread...and shamelessly promoting my event.... Ok folks. In the interest of furthering GAMING in the metaverse, I invite all GalCiv players to join me (and Zed) in the first RB masochistic SG. I would love to field a couple of teams--with some of the great players from around the metaverse. From my experience, having Aviator99_UK and Aaberg from the European Empire as part of the team, along with TBC (RB) and Isit was a great opportunity to learn new g
Free time? Hah. I have a 3-year old and a 4-month old, so my free time is maybe an hour a night after everyone has gone to bed. Oh well.
LOL. Almost a clone--3 yr old and 7 month old here. I sacrifice sleep for gaming. Welcome to GalCiv--the game is great and this community is also great! - Bam-Bam

I stick with the PQ13s and PQ14s. I usually do not take the 13s right away (since the AI will ignore them, and they cost you upkeep). If I have chosen the +5%PQ bonus pick, I will take PQ12s in the second wave of colonization, since Soil and Habitat will take it to a PQ15. If there is a need for range extension, I will take whatever extends the range to get to another juicy sector, since a colony ship plus planet maintenance is easier to get than a constructor and 10bc/month starbase

Thank you for the positive feedback. Sirian set up the first two RBGC SGs, so I cannot take credit for that part. In fact, neither Sirian nor I can claim credit for the succession game idea. Many of us from RB were raised on Civ3 succession games, which date back at least two years. It seemed only natural to apply this to another turn-based strategy game. RB did the same when Master of Orion 3 was first released... As to the next game, I have already put together the plan. http://

Good point, Theoden. Jeffrey, as you start to move up the difficulties, you may want to limit your selling of techs, especially to majors, since the majors (and most of the minors) will not pay cash for tech on masochistic difficulty. The tactic is legit, but it's something you will have to learn to live without when you get to maso.

[newroom sound] We break now from our currently scheduled programming to bring you live to a serious event happening on several farms here in the tri-county area. Rube: I don't understand. My fields are littered with one-word excrement. Rube #2: It's them aliens that done raced me and Zeke's tractors down yonder! Reporter: That's the way it's been all throughout the tri-county area. This is the most excitement here since several farmers claimed that aliens w

That may be exactly correct. There are two concepts at play here. One is true income; that is, your receipts from taxes, trade, and tribute. I suspect that number went up as you changed governments. Think of this as your fuel. Second is spending capacity: This of this as your ability to spend--i.e., the size of the engine. This changes even more radically with government changes. So, even if you have more income (fuel) coming in with the government swap--th

In a succession game, members of a team take turns at the helm of a single player game, playing a specified number of turns before passing the game to the next player. Players from Realms Beyond played the first complete GalCiv succession game at CivFanatics, where we've been playing Civ3 succession games for years now. Here is the thread at CivFanatics where the first game was played and reported: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72311 The game
Also you learn lots by reading the Sucession Games
For those who do not know where to look, the two succession games sponsored by the Realms Beyond Empire can be found at the following locations: RBGC1: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72311 The second RB succession game was/is comprised of three distinct teams with three goals. Team E and Team N have completed their games, and Team G is still slugging away. If you do visit, ple

Team E would like all you goodie types to know that we wiped the alien scum from the galaxy in November of 2190AD. Our alignment was well below 30. The forces of good even helped our conquest by having the Fundamentalists take out the Yor and two planet of the Drengin for us. Galactic conquest was never in doubt...this one was a very smooth ride. For more details visit our thread over at CFC. http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76739

At some point I want to do some tests, because I am not sure that the AI equally values same BC amounts given over differing increments. For example--do you get the same benefit (step change in relations and length of change) for 10bc over 30 months vs. 10bc over 100 months. I do know that adding months beyond 100 does nothing, but is the effect linear between 0 and 100 months? To me the question of testing is complicated by the dice rolls that happen each time you load a game, so it

That's odd--I just finished a LONG game that had the Draginol event, and had no problems with the event. I did have some CTDs, but I attribute that more the to having left my POS HP machine running for two days. I hope Cari can sort out your problem Paguma.

500BC is definately not the upper limit. I was giving 9k-10k every year or so to keep a runaway AI from getting uppity while I culture spammed the galaxy. If you have a truly dominant AI, then the amount of cash needed to keep them happy can get VERY large. The amount is dependent on the size of the AI economy.

Well, the game I posted on the 28th shows up in my personal profile and in the empire score calculation. It does NOT show up in my player standing listing. Player profile shows 18 games. Player standing listing shows 17 games played (and the score that I had at 17 games submitted).
