Frogboy - I respect that - I also surmise that it's near impossible to add multiplayer support to a game that has been developed as single player. oh, and by your post I can tell you guys know what to do the next 10-15 years then, hehe LOL Galciv 2,3 and 4? Impressive, can't wait to see them :-) for now, thanks for a great game

I read in the manual, that no event was meant to be groundshattering, but merely providing a way for the player to shape them empire, in terms of "good and evil". Am I the only on who thinks, that sometimes the "good" options are incredibibly hard on your empire? I've been asked to lose 700 BC in a game, where I had about 700 BC in order to be good. There are other instances where I've thought that it was cruel options, hehe - but I've forgotten which :-) /Flemming Madsen VP
Steve and magus, thanks for the feedback. Does this mean that not even in some 1.x version, there is a slight possibility of multiplaying this excellent game?
Steve, well I imagine that after each race had thrown about 2-5 ships against me for more than 20 turns (I believe that was the number, but can't be sure), meaning that they lost between 20-100 ships, they figured I was to strong. Perhaps my military rating got higher than theirs because of their loss of ships? About the singlemindness, it's to be said that all my remaining planets where in a 2x2 quadrants area,in the north western corner, and this planet was at the south western po
In the alliance research topic, you state twice, that one must remember that if your ally goes to war, you will automatically go to war as well.
oh, am I looking slightly sheepish now :-) thanks. hmm, is there an overview over quickkeys somewhere then?
steve, eh, I'm confused as to who Denis is right now, but it was me that had "Supervessel" :-) I didn't actually complete the game (it crashed in diplomacy) but was at war with three empires. My single vessel was guarding a planet they all attacked (they attack whats in front of them, appearently, instead of going to the weakest) and in the end they all capitulated, asking for peace. The supervessel was the explorer ship which got all the powerups - one could perhaps think i
The topic says it all :-)
eh link doesnt really work try this: http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp and then press Galciv User Manual
Betaman, You can only play humans, but you can customize them to your hearts content :-) As for a manual, there is one online, here :http://www.galciv.com/encyclopedia.asp?action=showpage&page=http://www.galciv.com/docs or just go to Encyclopedia and press "Game manual" hope it helps :-) /Flemming
You can't set the victory conditions, they are just implemented in the game from the beginning, and YOU have the option of (trying, hehe) to win in the style you prefer. /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com
you have to first buy the game. Then you will get a link to downloading drengin game master tool, where you can download the beta :-)
Am I correct in assuming there will be no multiplayer support in this game?
sure thing steevo :-) But it's kinda hard to search the forum, without knowing WHAT to search for :-) oh and about the war game...you where absolutely right, hehe. Thanx for the tips. /Flemming
After pressing the rightmost button on the diplomacy screen, the game crashed. How do I get the crash status messages I've seen here on the board to report the bug?
Has anyone else noticed that the tax slide results in some mighty interesting results? If you increase and decrease it, you may get a bonus to your popularity, or you may get a decrease, even if it's at the same level as before
hmm, so the reason they attack can be because militarily I'm weak? btw, ever had a ship like that? With 50 in defense?
In the random event, where after colonizing a planet, you discover some "desolate city ruins", it says : Signs life which should be = Lifesigns and Distry which should be = destroy
After having a few "war power" games, I think I may have an idea as how to make the game better in terms of technologicaland political victory possible. In the galaxy setup screen, there could be an option as to what kind of game you want. I mean, this isnt supposed to be an all out war game, but everytime I play, it degerates into this, which isnt really that fun since the game isnt designed as a pure tactical game. let me know what you think. /Flemming Madsen<br
In my third game, I had my explorer ship (eh whatsitcalled, the one that can explore all the objects) run around the galaxy, collecting mostly powerups. This resulted in the ship being a "super ship". Now, I'm not complaining, but... It had 11 in attack and 58 in defense, and abour 120 hp. It singlehandedly defeated three empires, with them throwing EVERYTHING they had at my foremost planet, and every single ship they sent being destroyed. About 3-6 ships per round, without a scracth
So, this late in the developement of the game, how much influnce can beta testers have? Are we limited to testing existing features, or will new feaures be considered. Having only played the game a few times, there is one thing that springs to mind. 1) Planeteray overview Not an overview of established colonies, but an overview over what planets have been scanned and their rating, perhaps also an option to send existing colony ships to one with a click (Ala Master of Orion 2)<br
Great thanx for the help :-) I bought the Galactic Civ game only, but what you said should apply to it as well then. Ah, tried the game now, seems GREAT! hehe, Moo3 you better be REAL good to beat this ;-)
Hi, just bought and downloaded the Drengin game manager (45 dollars), and is downloading the 55 MB Beta. I was rather confused by a post on the usegroups. Have I bought the game, or only the Beta version? I sure hope I pre-ordrered the game, or it will be twice as expensive as any other game I ever bought. Looking forward to playing the game :-) /Flemming Madsen VP Lidium www.lidiumonline.com
Great! and although tuturials can be boring to play, most of the time they give invaluable advice :)
As far as micromanagement goes, I think I have yet to see a game that will continue to be fun after the initial 40-50 turns. IMO the most fun is the initial creation of ones empire, after this, it becomes a question of piling a large enough fleet against the humongus fleet the computer has amassed and is throwing against outposts where you fleet currently is not! And of course, micromanagement becomes a bit tedious, since most "ministers" ive seen never do the job I want them to do :(
