Yes they cover the same or perhaps more of the territory that the romans did, but then you must keep in mind that this was a time without our modern ways of communication, thew roman empirse also consisted of alot more cultures and "races" then for example Russia today. And according to the romans they HAD almost conquered all of the world, at least the world as they saw it. The roman empire fell, and its size was an significant reason, it was not the only reason but it was a reason. I shou

I have no interest in "conquering the entire galaxy", I play for fun, to try to create a "perfect empire".. I agree with Lucian, the bigger an empire gets, the higher is the risk for a collapse, even through minor incidents. Just take a look at the Roman Empire. I want a game to feel epic, not just "Lets take over everything", that is boring. I want to feel with my civilization, feel that its my creation, not just something I have been put in charge of. Im not sure if GalCiv is
Ah, brilliant! :-)
Hmm, seems like you guys have it pretty secure then, congrats :) I for one think its ok to use cracks and such to get rid of the computers constant wining for the cd.. but only if you already own the game of course... btw, must the CD be in the drive while playing GalCiv?
Im curious, how are you going to protect GalCiv from beeing pirated? The expansion pack you mentioned might end up beeing pirated just as easy as the game it self... Do you have any other means of security as cd-keys has proven itself to be ineffective many times over?
Well, actually I just did, and it worked... SPLENDID.. LOL Thanks a million guys, so Frogman, no need for a gamma slider:)
An expansion pack.. just for me and the problems with my dark monitor.. gee guys... you shouldn´t have..
An expansion pack? Will it by any chance contain... a.... GAMMA SLIDER OPTION!?!?! :CONGRAT:
hmm.. what? LOL I have no idea what you meant by that:)
danke... Ill try it out :)
If it isnt possible to add a gamma/brightness option now, is it possible to add it for perhaps 1.1 or 12.1 or any of the other later versions? ;)
Well, I can play in the middle of the night with no lights on and when I run around inside houses in 3D games I still cant see a thing... And you might be right, perhaps its more brightness I want and not gamma. Well Adobe Photoshop is a BIT to expensive for me to buy just to be able to adjust my gamma setting, it would be cheaper to buy 2-3 new monitors:) And the setting under "Display Properties, Advanced, Colour Profile" we already discussed here.. And I have added a new color pr
Thanks alot... AGAIN! By reading the pages you sent me I have realized that PC is not the ideal OS to adjust gamma value in LOL But thanks for the help, I think I got it a bit brighter now:) Sunglasses.. LOL Hmm..Power strip, Ill see what it can do, its worth a shot, it cant get any darker.. right? :)
Well I have actually made one of my own wich is much brighter than any of those that you can choose, the only bad things is that many games, for example BF1942 disables this setting somehow and the screen is at dark as it would be with a default windows color setting... Well well. Much thanks for the help! Im glad you took the time to try and help! I guess I have to begin to save for a new monitor :)
The drivers I use is named (in explorer) 41.09_win2kxp and was downloaded from www.geforce.com so I guess they are detonator drivers :) Well.. Im not quite sure what you mean but I have found one setting under: Right-click on dektop - properties - settings- advanced. Then select the GeForce MX 400 tab. Under there I can adjust a Gamma value under the nView option. I have that gamma at 1.50.. Brighter than that and the colors get messed up.. I have had that option set for quite
Well... the prize for two or three computer games is quite much for me as I am a poor student(I get about 6000 swedish crowns a month and my rent is 2500:-). So buying a new monitor is out of the question. And besides, I dont know if it is the monitor or the gfx-card that has the problem (GeForce 2 MX 400) If I had a job then it wouldnt be a problem but I dont so... ;) Well whatta heck.. If I cant read what it says I´ll just make up my own story in GalCiv :)
Hmm.. I have tried for quite sometime to find something that can adjust the gamma setting in Windows.. but without success, anyone knows of any program that can do this?
Well.. new driver, well actually the first driver I had was the correct one but I reinstalled it. and VOILA! Still just as dark.
Found a tiny tiny sticker on the back of the monitor and it says LG CS778DC so I guess that was right.
Well, im not quite sure actually, Windows suggests that I have an LG CS778DC from LG Electronics I think. But im not sure how or where I can find it out as my monitor lacks any insignia:)
No feature of course. But as I have noticed, I am not alone with the problem. And its sad, because most games without gamma correction I cant play.
Not that im ungrateful, the game you are making is outstanding indeed... But adding a gamma corrections slider would even make it possible for me to read the text in some of the windows in the game..
Im not one of those stupid people who thinks the CD-ROM is a coffee-cup-holder.. I have quite a deal of knowledge in computers (studies C++ Programming at Uppsala University here in Sweden)
Oh really?? Is that possible? :D Of course I have done that... its on the brightest setting, but its still very dark, I cant for instance, see anything indoors in games like Battlefield 1942.. Im not sure what the problem is but I get really annoyed when devs create games without a simple setting like "Gamma Correction"
Noone knows? :(
