I'm a bit confused by what you mean...could you be more specific on how I can reproduce this?
CariElf
Sure, I don't know why I didn't think of this...
Urgh...that's not good. If it was a save game, it may have gotten corrupted...
Yeah, you guys don't have the fix yet. We're working getting the build out.
Hmm...well, there's not supposed to be a max limit on the number of ships built, but there could be some other limiting factor. Do you still have a save game with this problem that you could send me? [email protected]
Hmm...I'll take a look at the code that calculates the number of months remaining, but it could be simply that you are getting more research resources, which would affect how quickly you finish the research. I'm fairly sure that the error message is caused by a resource leak that was in the load game code, which I have since fixed. Either that, or it just doesn't show up in the debugger because I haven't had any problems exiting Gal Civ since I fixed the resource leak.
David, what specifically is going wrong? Is the list not appearing on the planet screen? Arturus: there's an option somewhere (I think under tools->folder options) that makes single click to open stuff. Maybe you have that checked?
No, but we do post a list of things that we fixed and implemented with each build.
Arrgh...I thought that I replied to this earlier this week. In the next build, it will check to see if there is a ship selected before it tries to pop up the dialog.
Ohh....yes, you can't build more ships than you have orbit slots for. So if you have all 16 of your orbit slots full, you can't build any more in that star system. So you need to kick some out. I don't think that there's an overall limit to how many ships can be built, though.
:) Well, I'm not quite omniscient, but I did code it that way to begin with, and I was fairly sure that I hadn't broken it.
Does changing your monitor settings have any effect? For example, does it help if you increase the contrast or brightness?
It should be fixed in the next build. I had to figure out how to use our existing FOW code to deal with all the ships suddenly having larger ranges after the Eyes of the Universe is built. It's been working well this week.
Well, if you're doing a complete re-install, it's a lot of big gfx files to download, so it will take quite awhile on a 56k dialup, assuming that you're able to get that high of a transfer rate when you log on. As for the error, I'm going to have to refer you to T-Man.
Do you ever go to www.wincustomize.com?
You may have run out of resources...your morale may have dropped too low, thus reducing your production. You might have gone into deficit spending (which seems to have an almost immediate effect on your production). There was a bug in this build where you couldn't play the game with a race disabled. In the next build, you'll be able to disable as many of the aliens that you like. Probably sometime after ship ranges and minor races, which are the two big things that we're wo
It'll be fixed in the next build.
Umm...the trade treaty is orange and the peace treaty is green, and the peace doesn't show up right now because the peace treaties that last for 10 years or so aren't implemented yet.
With the ships, it's intentional...otherwise, on ships that are on autopilot, it will make them start moving. I don't want to cancel the autopilot when they're selected. I did fail to make them display info in the ship data window, so I'll fix that. I think that I've got the bugs with the social and military list displaying fixed.
If this is like the problem Mark Weber is having, the relevant files may not have been updated correctly. You may need to un-install and re-install.
Argh...that's not good. I don't know if that would be in the AI code or the invasion code...
Delmiko, well that's the video mode that Gal Civ is trying to set when it crashes. If you can't set it manually, I guess that's why Gal Civ can't set it eitehr. Have you been playing it on another machine usually? Mark, you're missing several gfx images, that probably weren't updated properly. Did you get any error messages when you were updating? Are you on a dial-up connection?
e-mail [email protected] with your name and the e-mail address that you registered with and they should be able to send you your serial number again.
Do you play with or without auto turn, so that I can play the same way when I go to try and reproduce it?
Hmm...that's bizarre... There are supposed to be little plus and minus buttons above the minimap to let you zoom. I don't know what would make them not appear on WinME. You can use the + and - keys from the numpad in the meantime. When you hit the Yes or No button, it doesn't close the screen? Sorry, there was a bug when initializing the abilities. The AI, however, get bonus points just like the human player, and they put 2 points in at the beginning.
