I'm not sure if the skinning part is fully implemented yet...you'll have to ask Pat.

Yeah, that would be a cool feature.
OK, then I've obviously fixed that particular bug.
We're going to wait until Brad gets back from GDC.
You need to be a Drengin.net subscriber in order to be considered for the alpha. If you get picked, it will show up in your drengin cm. I don't know when the next alpha release is going to be yet.
I like turn based as well. I'm used to hitting the space key in Black Isle's RPGs to pause the action so that I can set my wizard's spells, change weapons, etc, and I find that in real time games, I'm always hitting the space key, wasting valuable seconds. :)
I believe that there is no way to read the forum offline at this time. Eventually, this forum will be integrated with the gal civ newsgroup so you'll be able to do it that way. The only way that you would get a list of reported bugs would be if someone would make one. We don't currently have someone here to do that. I did it once or twice but I'm constantly torn between spending time here (which is needed) and actually working on Gal Civ. We're to the point in the project where I'
Does it crash immediately when you press 'S'? It didn't with my build. The Mirrored Z bug was reported before, and I fixed it at the time, but you guys have apparently not gotten an update since before then. I'll e-mail Brad and ask if he'd like us to release an alpha build while he's away or wait until he gets back.
Paul, but you can take them over the same turn that your attack ships have taken out their defense? As for the taking over last star system crash, that should be taken care of in the next build.
We're planning on releasing an alpha build on Thursday.
I can't remember if you guys have gotten a build since I fixed the ghost ship problem (where you couldn't take over a star system with a transport immediately after destroying its defenders). If you are getting crashes, please send me the SmartException log (click Open Log Directory or something like that when the SE window pops up) and your saved game directory, along with a description of what was going on at the time. If you need SmartException, you can get it from this l
I'm happy to say that this has now been addressed. The GNN waits until after the Newsscreen has gone away to pop up.
I asked Brad, and I was doing it the wrong way. :) Must be all that aspartame.
I just have a vague memory of Brad telling me to do it that way, and me thinking it was backwards...I'll ask Brad how it's supposed to be though.
Yes, it is, and I forgot that. :P
Well, I tested it without FOW on a tiny galaxy and it worked fine...I don't know if FOW would mess it up...I put it on my list of things to test when we have an alpha build ready.
No, because a scout will make a shield appear. I'm not really sure what's up with the code...I'll check it really quickly...
Do you have SmartException installed? If not, please get it from this link and install it. http://www.stardock.com/temp/sx-odinst.exe To send me the SmartException report when it pops up, Click on Open Log Directory (or something like that) and the file you want is GalCiv.exe.CRA. You can either drag it into a e-mail that's already open or right click on it and choose send to mail receipient. Also, if you send me your SavedGames directory along with the SmartExcepti
Umm...without even knowing how Doug encodes his ship sprites, I would say not easily unless you could convince Brad to let you have the filmstrips of the animated ships.
notes that erroneously get posted twice
Fixed it! I ended up having to reproduce it myself since the logical addresses from the last build had changed enough to not be useful. I guess I'm going to have to start keeping .map files from the alpha builds. :)
The only thing that I can think of was that they were blocking each other and were attempting to get around each other...
well, that's really bizarre...I've never seen anything like that...
