What version of the game are you running? In the early versions there was a tribute bug that caused the AI to gain money when it pays a monthly tribute. ~SDC~

Even with the terraforming techs its still not practical to colonize any planets below class 13. Theres also the fact that the terraforming techs would have to be revamped for any race that needs lower class ones. Any improvement giving them a + % to planet quality will hurt them. ~SDC~
I don't think that having a race that likes the lower class planets will really work. What happens when you invade that planet? A low class planet will only hurt you causing you to need to abadon it. As long as this race could avoid being exterminated they'd never have any world problems. Plus the sheer amount of lower class planets would make this race unbalanced unless the planet generation formulas were changed to take account of this. ~SDC~
Trade goods will help you out a lot. You'll be able to get several new techs from the AI for them, and you can always use them as a bribe to play the AIs off against each other. ~SDC~
Yeah its puzzling how it can happen, especially when the Drengins get Battleships tech when they're still a few pre-reqs away. Makes the war interesting at least :) ~SDC~
Its not listed in the GCResource.RESOURCE file along with the other resources, but it may come into play by some other event. ~SDC~
There are some luck particular events. One in particular involves you receiving a Ranger class ship due to a stroke of luck. ~SDC~
When you leave the diplomacy screen after speaking to a minor race through the foreign policy menu, the last major race you selected on the relations screen will have its picture and leader name show up. ~SDC~
Hmm trying clicking on the picture link at www.geocities.com/norin27 , and it wasn't anything I did or even could do. I didn't have contact with Torians at the time and my ships didn't have the range to reach them. ~SDC~
While the AI was moving I got a message asking if I wanted to invade the Torians but it seemed to be meant for the Drengins. I hit no and the Drengins and Torians were still at peace the next turn. Screenshot link is http://www.geocities.com/norin27/invasion.JPG ~SDC~
You should also think about joining Imperia Galatica, a few of us have beat the game at masochistic and we could discuss strategy :) ~SDC~
Yeah masochistic can be pretty fun and brutal :) ~SDC~
Even better is when they'll refuse multiple planets for some techs :) ~SDC~
There is no multiplayer component to the game. The only online interaction you have is when you submit scores to the Metaverse. ~SDC~
Scoring doesn't really account for difficulty enough to help out a smaller empire that much. ~SDC~
Theres really no meaning besides having the ability to brag about being in the top empire. ~SDC~
Its ok, I still have these perty medals to admire ;), and our day will come once again! ~SDC~
Imperia will get you, and your little dog too! :P ~SDC~
Tis indeed a dark day in GalCiv history, and any traces of the metaverse should be destroyed and forgotten ;) ~SDC~
1) I believe you can edit some account information at www.wincustomize.com 2) See above 3) You can quit an empire at any time, but I hear Imperia Galactica is a good empire to want to join 4) Not sure ~SDC~

I love the dreaded fundie event myself :) ~SDC~
Galactic crack has a nice ring to it :) ~SDC~
To build freighters you need to research trade which is down the comm theory tech path, and then you just right click on the planet you wish to trade with. To understand other races you need to research universal translators which is right after comm theory. ~SDC~
Because evil is the easy path. While you may suffer from choosing the good choice, in the long term it can be beneficial as other good/neutral races will look more favorably upon you. ~SDC~
