and--I DONT BELIEVE the AI is having the same problems and 'handles" it.

Dearmad-your so good. We all wish we had your expertise.
i guess were just not good enough to handle random game busters, Joe
taxes aint the answer to morale imbaleence issues with the game. There is a flaw in the engine there, just like with the game ending special events.
Raising taxeds LOWERS MORALE a whole lot quicker than it controls the population. And the extra money does not good towards more improvements if THERE ARENT ANY MORE TO BUILD. either because they've not been researched yet or you have already built every one known to mankind. Populist part idea is a good one though. Am I the only one who cant solve the morale IMBALENCE in the game? Maybe an after action reportn which includes what was done to control morale for the whole game would be helpfu
how would you know that the production of that other race went up? Does your eyeball screen (espionage) tell you that? So far, my espionage efforts havent really told me anything useful; no real details.
edit: ...and who just are NOT good enough to handle GalCiv. (sorry, defective keyboard.)
most likely?anyway to know? I'd hate to think I have to GUESS at whats going on like I did with ANOTHER recent space game.
how about a euthansia policy? at least you wouldnt waste time and money building ships. Then you could make soylent green and help feed the population thats left. kill two birds with one stone. No dumber than having to ship people off your planet every 10 turns.
how about a switch to turn the damn things off if we choose. hmmm I think that option has been offered to gamers before........
glad SOMEBODY knows how to handle morale in the long run. For me, I've had to bend over so often I now look FORWARD to my annual physical; its less painful than frickin around with morale issues for the whole game.
I think you need to take a serious look at the morale engine. Look over the posts on morale to see what we are concerned about. One CANNOT build enough morale inhancing improvements to stop the slide. One guy even said he researched and used them ALL and still moral is out of control. Please look over the posts and see if you think a tweak is needed in further patches. Maybe a difficulty slider (for YOUR CIV not to increase or decrease alien AI) give the dummies a chance to turn down or ratc
This sounds like a serious gameplay/balancing isse (if not a bug.) STARDOCK needs to LOOK INTO THIS. Its not one or two whining losers complaining here folks.
10% to have an affect on morale? You could get a 30% morale boost but ten to twenty clicks later your moral is down again unless you've researched and built every moral boosting improvent in the game. Or bled your population by sending colony ships out (even when there are no planets left) or sending out battle transports (even when you are not planning a war or invasion.) Or maybe I'm just doing something wrong here?
this morale thing is a bigger issue than I thought. Many threads (including mine) have raised questions and asked for help but nobody has a good answer. Great AI is something we've all been looking for but I am afraid there are some other issues...not bugs but questionable gameplay designs that are making the game too frustrating...the ever popular "this just came out of nowhere and screwed me so I might as well quit and start a new game" random event. We need more difficulty options...rando
i sure hope the terrible evil isnt the return of disco because I've already had to suffer through that once.
no, but I'm being VIOLATED by low morale issues
no argument that game ruining bugs need to be addressed first. However i stand by my position that the ability to adjust game difficulty for your ouwn civilization...less morale headaches being one of them on the easier settings...would benefit the game. I'm all for a good challange but if a game gets to difficult to deal with thats no longer a challange, its a chore and I have enough of those to deal with in daily life as it is. Remember, all gamers are not equal. Some are a whole lot b
GalCiv will probably arrive at Best Buy AFTER Hillbilly TycoonIII, Deer Hunter3D, The Sims Grandma"s Rampage add on, Generic RTS Clickfest Mania, and Duke Nukem Forever. How about a nice new cell phone? Or CD player? ;)
p20 250 colonists? DO you mean 2500 or 25,000? 250 can't be right. same goes for the other numbers.
go back to playing as an evil bastard and you'll get your red interface back. cheers
What do you DO with all the colony ships full of unwanted people WHEN THERE ARE NO MORE planets to colonize?? WHAT do you do with combat transports when you ARE NOT AT WAR?? Just hold onto them until they are needed? And in the meantime keep paying upkeep fees? (thats another bitch of a problem...keeping finances from dwindling.) Maybe great for warmongers but what about trying to play with out fighting unless really needed to survive? (the other ways to win??) I really think the morale "eng
sebadoh- points well taken, I was too harsh. Anyway, I fall back on my earlier statement: I trust reviwers that I have experience with (they like the games I like and dont like the games I dont like etc) because If our tastes are similar it gives me more confidence. At this point though, reviews shouldnt matter that much to anyone who has the game as we already KNOW. The only thing I am using reviews of GalCiv for now are to compare their views with what I already know so I can tell if that revi
theres you answer. Sorry that you have no real software stores around you. maybe your best bet is to order online...download if you have the patience or jsut order the boxed package...you'll have it in a few days.
some good advice, especial the propaganda slider which I didnt realize was there. BUT...whats with the colony ship solution? How do you continue to siphon off population when there are NO MORE PLANETS to colonize? Do you just leave em out in space? Bring em back when morale goes up which will (theoretically) just lower morale again? Hoestly, this, for me, is the most frustrating part of the game.
