i have version 1.05.071, and some weird things are happening -but no crashes :) my deathstar's moves say "8/1", instead of the the "1/1", and the weird thing is that its a "8/1" instead of "1/8"! well anyways, i got a deathstar that actually can move 8 spaces! i cant really complain. i only have one deathstar in that game right now, i will try building another after work today to see if it also gets the same 8 moves. (by the way, the deathstar isnt in a fleet or anything).

i wanted to see the programming behind the .event files, so i downloaded one from the library and opened one with notepad in a separate directory from the galciv directory. but now all the .event files show up as a notepad file instead of the "unknown file" type. will this effect the game when it tries to load an event? and if so, how do i assign .event files from being a notepad file back to the "unknown" file?
does anyone know of what mods NOT to download if i want to still submit to the metaverse?
I want to try Laser Squad Nemesis, but i want to hear some reviews from it first. i miss the X-Com games, the format of the 2 first X-Coms (ufo, and terror from the deep) is what i like to play, just that i havent seen any games that followed that format since. (:(
whats the upper limit?
nevermind, i read the readme.
there, i just downloaded every mod from frogboy,Duglis, and pierre-luc. do i just unzip them into the galciv/data folder?
whats with the "stardock certified" thingy beside the "dangerous animals" event? i cant find any other mod in the library with the same certification. are they going to make it that the only mods allowed for metaverse submissions have to be "Stardock Certified"?
i want to download some of the additional events and maybe even the new technologies and the new "photon mines". however, i want to know which ones will effect my score on the metaverse, i dont want finish a large map, and find out my score becomes a 0.
i downloaded SE4 demo a while back, but i didnt get into it for some reason, even though i loved SE3. the only thing i didnt like about SE3 was the fact that it was nearly impossible to keep good relations with the AI. i dont know why or what but the SE4 demo just didnt appeal to me, even though i spent many "all nighters" with SE3.
ive only had that high from taking over planets that used to be from the precursers. i never had one of my own planets be a precurser planet however.
Alderman of Big Beef Burritos Supreme, Hairy The Taco Weird, Burritos and Tacos? and not only that, it said: "... but you still make minimum wage." maybe im doomed to work at TacoBell?
also, what size maps are you tryin? dont pick the tiny until after you get the hang of the game, maybe try medium. the tiny maps are not all that forgiving due to the fact you wont have too many planets. medium would be good, big enough to make room for mistakes, and not big enough to make it hard to keep track of everything.
after finishing my last game, i relized that the AI never has asked me to make peace with someone else. did anyone ever get a civilization asking you to make peace with different civilization that you are at war with? I relized this after i was attacking the Yor, who in turn where allied with the Arceans, and i had to most powerfull military in the game at the time. everyturn i attacked the Yor, the Arceans would say that i was attacking their allies and say that because of this that
my problem is fixed now. CariElf sent me some files to patch things up, seems to be working fine now. thank you CariElf :CONGRAT:
happened to me too. i alterians where getting there asses kicked by the drengin bad, they were down to just 2 planets on the other side of the galaxy from me. i wanted the alterians to stay in the game so that way the drengins would be preoccupied with the alterians instead of me. i gave the alterians all my techs for nothing, and i also gave them a lowely level 15 planet thats deep in my territory to give them an economic boost -next turn the planet turns out to be owned by the pre
events still pop up long after you finished colonizing planets, so you will still get a chance to change your morality.
the average age on here is 32?! really? thats interesting. im 24 right now, i wasnt expecting that! im finding it very difficult to get some good game time in this game while working full time, so i was kinda thinking that the players on here with huge scores would be more younger people who dont work full time yet.
nevermind, i guess the post before me explains it all
do you mean the minor civs? i dont know how to check, but if you mean the major civs, they should be the same as what you assigned them to at the begining of the game.
i emailed my "debug.err" file to [email protected], im guessing this is what i was supposed to do. maybe try the same, you can find the debug.err file in the galactic civ. file folder. i will post back on this thread when i get word from them as what to do. are you running on windows 2000 pro too? this kinda sucks not being able to try out the new patch.
oh wow! there is an empire called the "Sun Gods"! just one "s" different from mine! good thing he didnt make his the "Sun God" empire or else i would have had to name mine "Sun Gods" empire, which just sounds dumb! i like his logo, but i still like my sun logo better ;p
i noticed there is a Yor, Drengin, Torian, Alterian and Arcean empire in the empire list, but they are closed, and they have no members. Will they be used for anything?
ok, thanks, i found the file, now i will send it off for processing.
just wondering, what is the differences between moo3 and galciv? i never played any of the moo games before, and im wondering how they differ. reading the reviews of moo3 hasnt helped me, all i got from those was a lot of flak about the micromanagement, but nothing of what exactly the gameplay is like.
