I have painfull expirience with that - some motherboards (especially VIA based for Athlons) wan't allocate Expended memory no matter what you do :( In this case you "stack" with DosBox , thaty is good program but indeed a bit slow , you need 2.5Ghz+ to play MOM and MOO with sound , disable sound and music and things will run a lot faster. Also you can make it a bit faster by adjasting CPU cycles in DosBox INI. ~SDC~
Lord KiRon
I would PREORDER MOM2 only if StarDoc promise to make it MoM2 , not different like GalCiv and Master of Orion , actually as we all know GalCiv is a great game too , but if it's different I would "probably order" but if it's WinXP remake with new movies sounds, races and tech but everything else is the same then I would PREORDER. ~SDC~
MOVIES ! :) Technology movies , each time you descover new technology - play a movie or animation related to this technology or show this piece of equipment like full screen , the text that we have now is good too but it's like main thing now , make it secondary and include tech statistics , like this weapon have 20pt firepower and such . ~SDC~
It's completely off topic but based on poll Stardock dad on their site sometime ago they are considering to make Master Of Magic 2 . I just want to say - Go for it ! But stick to the prev. design , just make Windows running version of MoM with new videos , images and sounds , may be add few more races and spells but don't change the concept or even UI ! (GalCiv is a great game but it's not HQ remake of Master of Orion I so wanted! ) ~SDC~
After reinstalling the game (after fresh WinXP install) and updating all updates can't get any sound at all , not even music , only button clicks. But no crashes ... Bough Altarian Prophecy , installed - same problem :( ~SDC~
Yes , to any other loosers :) , changing the taxes is a first thing to do , and do not afraid to set them high sometimes, it's not MoO , setting taxes too low will not help you and "your people" it has to be balanced. I believe because in MoO most of the people learned to reduce the taxes on first ocasion possible make them hard to adapt to GalCiv "style" . ~SDC~
Just looked at preview on gamespot , interesting , many new stuff , but can someone answer me :In what way "new" stars looks different then "old" (v1.05) ? To me it looks the same :( ~SDC~
Well looks like ViewSonic is winning :) 2nd person that see OK there, dear Quantum73 you probably need to learn a lesson that I had painfully learned myself some time ago - good technical characteristics it's only 1/2 way to the good product. The only real test is to test and compare. Btw: tech. characteristics of my ViewSonic is the same exept 21ms refresh time on mine versus 16ms on yours - this means that you will see the movies less blured, but nothing of what you liste
Have you considered that your monitor is crap :) ? Mine 18" Viewsonic VX-800 scale it's without any problem (I specially put my old 17" Iyamma CRT insted to compare)despite being native 1280x1024. Every LDC monitor has a "mini-CPU" that scales the image to native resolution, some do this better, some ... well not that good :) Really , no need to get so agressive :) If you believe that the resolution and look of this game make it not worth your $40 then you probably gought w
Having to be able to change resolution would be nice , especially to non 3:4 resolutions like 1280x1024 that native to my 18" LCD monitor , BUT only if it's easy and fast to do ! Game features/enhancements should be first priority ! ~SDC~
Well we have to congradulate the StarDoc for making money from the air :) , no offence but their marketing stategy is briliant ! ~SDC~
Me same . ~SDC~
I tried to get tech. victory all the times but I finish with cultural instead :) May be I am doing something wrong ? But if I do not increase my infuence my planets start to flip to others and if I do increase - I will culturaly :( ~SDC~
It bugs me too , it should be removed , may be not when problem gone but at least when you have a "bonus" influence on this planet . ~SDC~
Well there is many people and many opinions thats why I am asked to be able select the random event freq. either on game setup or in options. ~SDC~
Yes , the StarDock is illogical a bit , well with HyperDrive invention they say nobody need a stargate, but does this make them completely usless ? I doubt. ~SDC~
Like flag is my only problem , I just need an indication when my planet/system is about to defect and when it's not so I will stop pumping money and building influence stuff on it , esspecially if I am not targeting cultural victory. Actually I am trying to achieve technological for a long time , but always end up with cultural :) because I have to implement "contramesures" to avoid my planets flipping, a of this and I find myself half way to cultural victory :) ~SDC~
If this is what he meant I second to that :) ~SDC~
But this system never "flipped" it was mine from the beggining and never changed side ! Anyway I do think it's a bug because even "this flag was raised" after a few good years of absolute control it should "go down". ~SDC~
Just a question : When you saying WILL are you really know something or it's just a demend :) ? Btw: I agree with some of your points like bombers and need to do simultaniouse research in few areas and autobuild , but you exordurating with reality demends , if you want "everything real" play BattleCruser Millenium insted - you will get full realism with no ability to really control anything :) ~SDC~
Never saw LF resource , but about "treveling" resources , yes it works this way, is it bug - hardly , nobody complains :), btw: if you TStar destroyed it will "lay a egg" :) , the resource will be left on place of destruction :) ~SDC~
The bug is that if some planet get "skull" sign on it it never disaapear ! I just finished one game with cultural victory , the moral was 100 on all the planest , I had all the modifiers for moral and influence , but the planet that got "skull" sign in the begining of the game had it until the end ... ~SDC~
Is it me or we are getting much less random events starting 1.4 (or may be 1.3) ? Having all this random even in original(release) version was making game too hard , but now I rearly get them , this kills part of the fun :( May be developers could do another "switch" in game start up screen defining how often random events will occure ? (just like it was in original MoO :) ) ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Well the ocurence of the events such as monsters and pirates are now lowered a lot , before if you get Space Zoo you automatically in few turms get monsters escape , if you get galactic prison you after few turns had prisoners escapes , now this happens MUCH less. ~SDC~
Probably you had a problems with your i-net line . It happens sometimes you know :) ~SDC~
