A couple more questions. How do you get a planet to culture flip? There have been times where I've surrounded an asteroid on all sides and had my culture go all the way through the jump to their planet on every side and still had it not flip. Is there a trick I'm missing or is it nearly impossible to flip a planet? Also it seems right now my biggest hurdle is how to manage my empire well, particularly my ships. How do you all get

This is all great information to give me a great start. Something I read somewhere that I'd like to have confirmed...building multiple trade ports on the same planet IS a good idea? Each of them will add a significant amount of credits? In this case should you designate a few systems as "trade systems"? And just build the mines and the trade ports? Reading the wiki, I assume it is worthwhile to build orbital refineries...I thought in the game it said

That was all great info Darvin, thanks a lot. In my current game I've got 2 opponents in my star system and two others in other star systems (not sure if it's one each yet, or if they're fighting over one of them. I'm mowing down the one opponent in my star system pretty well, and fortunately the other guy has mostly left me alone. I let him take one asteroid and he stopped after that. I've managed to get trade alliances and such with the two not in my star system, b

Hey Guys, I'm new to this game, just have a few plays in and need some help on some basic strategy to help me get going. I've poked around on this forum and a couple of sites and can't find what I'm really looking for, if you could point me in the right direction or give me some tips I'd really appreciate it. I've read several of the threads here, but still haven't found out a lot of what I'm looking for. Sorry if this is someplace obvious, but I did

Hmm, Intel's website says that pixel shader IS supported on the 945. http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-014257.htm Are they lying or am I reading it wrong?

Hey, after you get favor points after a game you are supposed to be able to spend them immediately right? I just played a couple of games hosting with only AIs so I could get the favor items to be competitive in multiplayer, and after two games earning 195-220 I still only had 45 favor points to spend. Does it take awhile for your favor points to come up or is this a bug?

Hello to all the former guardians. I think we should reorganize and get Greldonizing. I still remember the old days...it was epic. I currently don't own Galciv 2 yet, was waiting to see if the Guardians had reappeared. After reading the Galciv 1 vs. Galciv 2 topic though I think I am going to have to pick it up. The Guardians need to make a return... For Honor and Justice!

Just letting everyone know the Guardians are having a good versus evil tournament this month (perhaps you've noticed the empire change) in which everyone in the empire joined either the Guardians of Justice (good) or the Guardians of Doom (evil) This tournament is open to anyone so if you are interested contact Theoden (good) or Lothmorg (evil) Evil is presently kicking goods butt, so calling all defenders of justice out there, we need your help. BTW this game is being

In my opinion there needs to add more options to control alignment throughout the game. As is it pretty much is either you get good during colonization or your chances are shot forever, the further alignment choices in the game are very rare, and sometimes non-existent as in my last game, where I was stuck on neutral, and it took me like 15 turns to figure out that it wasn't a tech I was missing to stop me from building paladins. Often no matter how hard I try I am unable to attain pure goo

I have seen more come, but they are very rare after the initial group. In the next version it would be cool if they reappeared more often so there were always at least some to explore. Usually by the time I get to rangers there are no anomalies left.

Ended up playing a fairly long game which was kinda frustrating because even though the arceans had only 3 stars for the entire game, me ending up with about 40, they out-manufactured/research/populationed me for 3/4ths of the game. Anyway, back to the subject I was on I have about 5 questions: What exactly does The Terraformer do, so far it seems pretty random to me how much it raises each PQ. Obviously more for the higher ones, but is it a %, or is it more of a random number

So if I'm not mistaken you're saying the best chance for me to increase my score is to go to v 1.49. That's the AP pack right? I was gonna buy that but I was waiting for the final version. Is it all smooth and playable right now? No major bugs? If so I'll order it right now. Thanks for the feedback

I got kind of abstract answers on my last post. I'm curious what I can do to increase my score both in game and before creation of the game. Obviously going crippling or masochistic gives you a higher score, but can you leave one or two races as genius in masochistic without affecting your score since it is still masochistic? Also does making everyone the opposite alignment from you help score? In that case if you made everyone chaotic evil, and you were chaotic good would that be maxing it,

What is needed to get a perfect game (60000) in galciv? My last game I tried my hardest and only got a high 40's game even though it took forEVER, I had gigantic map, all incredibles but two evils, me being pure good, all races on default alignments, military victory. What else can be done to bump up the score enough to get a 60000? do I need to make all alignments opposite of me or what? Let me know, thanks

What determines if a civilization that is at war is going to completely surrender to someone, also, what determines who they're going to surrender to? Thanks, Jeremy

I just finished up a game in which I got the die humans event for the first time, it happened very late in the game, I had just polished off the altarians and only the drengins were left. I had several dreadnaughts floating around, and avatars in production. I hadn't declared war on the drengin yet, but was ready to (they were way behind me) then bang: Something about some guy assassinating a Lord in the Drengin army, and I get a message saying I'm at war with the Drengin. 'ok, no problem' I

Just wanted to say that I love it when the Carinoids with only 3 planets produce 3 trade goods in 5 months. Aphrodisiac, Tri-Strontium Steel, and frictionless clothing, after I had invested 10-20 months in each of those, and was only 3-5 months away from getting each. Gotta love that [SD-make minors stop building trade goods/wonders] quiksilverhg

My biggest problem is that because of the way the system is now I am forced to continue building on every planet socially in order to get my new planets even mildly happy/effective. Then on top of that all of the social projects have maintenance on top of that "wasted" money. Thus I feel like I should build nothing when all that's left is the 5 BC maintenance virtual reality centers and stuff. Thus no matter what I do I am wasting money, both on the building and then even more on the maintena

My biggest problems with starbases is they're so whimpy. Even with like 8 mods on them (mostly military) I am always very pissed off when one battleship can come along and knock out my 8 military 2 def modded starbase. The way I see it a major major starbase should take a small fleet of ships to destroy, that way it WILL be more advantageous to build up the starbases since they will also last longer. I always see like 2 corvettes moving towards one of my starbases and I'm like noooooooooooooo

Hi, I'm near the end of my game and I'm trying to get a research victory (never gotten to see the cutscene before yet) the problem is, by the time I finally got the Drengin's too stop trying to kill me, I had taken over all their planet's but two. Now I am at like 95% culture, and I'm going to win that way before I can get my research done. I'm on near omnipotent now with like 10 mts left on that, any ideas? I tried destroying a bunch of my colonies, but that seemed to make my influence go hi
