So the fix might be to add a race 35 model in addition to those present - or do as I mentioned earlier.
Can anyone do this for me (please)? ~SDC~
Amaymon
Yes, i tried a)galciv/data + galciv/gfx b)galciv/mods/data + galciv/mods/gfx c)both at the same time I get the statistics of the ship, but no blueprint screen, no fleet-model, no ship model, just an empty cursor with ship statistics. (:( I do not play with AP. Right now i have a totally unmodded, basic GalCiv. (At first i thought the ship(s) would not work because they were made for AP.) I thought i had modded too much, so i did a comlete d
Its strange that you have problems with the Hawk, I had never problems, did you try to place it in the different gfx folders, that sometimes helps
Put them in the different folders, tried the single folders and tried with the mdl in both gfx folders at once, but unfortunately there was no improvement. Nevertheless thanks for the advice. Your excellent Halut ships work without problems, as do the three other omega ships from M.Krox. Strange that i get the two exceptions. M
I'm from Germany, as is Icho Tolot (i believe). I don't really know if the creator(s) of the omega ships would make a fuss about changing their mdls. When i asked turgotZ if i could perhaps use and submit some of his StarTrek ships in my mods, he told me that they're meant for sharing, and that it would be ok as long as i stated whre the original files were from (i didn't submit any of his mdls though, except the monster, which turgotZ did for me when requested). I think Coplann and MrK
There are a few really nice mods around, created by Chippoka. In the Mods section you will find a link those mods. There is a conversion of the WhiteStar mdl - now it has colour identifcations for the different races. Also note the mine-mdls, which have really really good energy-animations around them. I am posting this here since the mod-section seems pretty dead sometimes, and i think these mods are really worth a look. ~SDC~ [Message Edited]
Yes, perhaps it is high time to use those programs myself. I downloaded them, but didn't find the time for tinkering with them (i also don't have a decent gfx program - my paint shop pro is version 3.x, from about '97). I took a look at your mines and the white star conversion, i especially like the light pulses und the fog animation around them, this is really really a nice touch, a masterpiece so to say! :CONGRAT: The mines itself could be a little bit smaller (just my personal o
The Patrol works fine, just the Apollo is invisible. Strange. :notsure: The proton mine isn't from me (my mods are the StellarWarfare Package [which includes missiles, sadly with the old mdls], the StarFighter Mk2 and the Wasp, the MonstrousMod [with turgotZ]), but a mine-mdl would be a fine thing anyway. ~SDC~ Could you kinda load and save the apollo-mdl with your tools and make it available for download? Perhaps this solves the problem. [Message Edited]
for those interested
It seems your skills are improving quite fast. Perhaps you should collect your progress in some sort of tutorial or perhaps create a complete new post about your mods and how you dunnit, what worked and what not, etc. I believe many players and modders would find this very interesting, but as you were the only one who answered me in this post, i think not many other players have read it. Since you have created two mdls in rather short time and
extra sprites
I don't own AP. Perhaps the two ships have additional Drath or Korx (or whatever) sprites that can't be used in GalCiv without AP. By the way, great work with the new Borg Cube. I have not tested the TFT yet, but i'm looking forward for your next creations. ~SDC~
Tested all the ship.mdls available. All check fine, except the Hawk from Tolot's Evil Pack, and the Apollo from the Omega Ships. Don't know why those two won't work, they keep being invisible, regardless if i use the mdl for own ships or in the original way along with their mods. ~SDC~
Yes, they have their own mdl files. I tried both the mods/data & mods/gfx and the standard data and gfx folders, but the ships are invisible. (:( ~SDC~
Hello, can anyone tell me why some of the ship-mods don't work with my GalCiv? I have no problems at all using Chippoka's Borg Cube, but the FireHawk from the EvilPack and the Patrol from the OmegaShips appear "invisible" in the blueprint screen, the fleet screen, and the main screen. I have no such problems with turgotZ files (some StarTrek ships and the SpaceShark) either. ~SDC~
I'm surprised it was a Dreadnaught.
Might be that it was an Excalibur then, i just noticed when i finished my testing that there was some "big ship" in the fleet window instead of the borg cube, thought it was a Dreadnought, but didn't look further. ~SDC~
Tested the Borg-Cube. There should be something for you in the Mods-forum. :) ~SDC~
I couldn't wait and took a look at the Borg Cube you created. I think it's great work, especially since it's your first try (i wouldn't even know how to do this), but there are a few things that sprang to my eye: I would change the "Borg-Cube" and "Traktor-Beam" text in the overviw-picture of the cube to something more general, or offer a second "general" cube. This would allow other users that wish to use the ship but do not have or want a StarTek-modded GalCiv to integrate the ship better
BoTF,Imperium Galactica 2,MOO2, Star Wars Rebellion
Yes, those are for sure among the top-ten. ~SDC~
Thanks for your fast answer, and the links collection. I think many new modders might appreciate this, too. I have been modding GalCiv some time ago with the old version and the notepad, though i did mainly new ships (with old gfx) and a few small improvements (i didn't post 'cause there were already similar ones in the library). I also used the old version to correct or change some existing mods. Before my HD crash i had 149 self-made events, all tinkered to fit various gfx taken from several a
Hello, where and how can i obtain the newest version of GalCiv Writer, and which programs are available for modding the game? I'd be nice to have a full and up to date list/linksection of everything needed to mod the game, including ships and gfx, and... perhaps a tutorial for people who had nothing to do with gfx and mdl-files up to now (like me). ~SDC~ [Message Edited] [Message Edited]
Downloaded it right away. :) ~SDC~
Please tell me when you got the new monster-gfx ready. Unfortunately i do not have the time or the skill to do my own mdl-files. A friend of mine already suggested striped or spotted monsters, or even another animated shape altogether, but i don't know how to do this. This is why turgotZ was so essential in creating the mod. I wanted to breed my own space-sharks, but it was not possible to assign the correct model via GalCiv-Writer. So i asked in the forum if anyone could unlock the model for me
Thanks for the praise and the feedback. Most of the real work was done by turgotZ, without him this would not have been possible. I'm still tinkering with the bigger Monster, 'cause up to now the Leviathan is either built in masses or not at all by the AI. Thanks again for the feedback, i got next to none when i asked for it some time ago, so i thought the mod is not very popular. ~SDC~
Hello, i just re-installed my GalCiv and updated, but there are still a few german files left: Some UP files, the Starhawk file, and the invasion tactics. Where can i get the english files again? I know there was a full set of english files once, but i need only the files mentioned above ('cause with the full set mentioned above, starbase maintenance did not work properly when i changed the files with my old GalCiv). ~SDC~
Sorry that i don't participate in testing, but it turned out i hadn't the free time i planned after all. (:( ~SDC~
Thanks for your tutorial. :) I think i might get the hang of it now. ;) ~SDC~
"The art files are included so you can use the toolset to change this .spr1 file to replace any other ship you want." How exactly can i do this (I'm fairly new with the Editing Suite)? ~SDC~
