If you develop a one per galaxy trade good and you decide to trade it (let's say "Diplomatic Translators") to the Yor. Then the trade good vanishes from your list of things that you can trade to the Yor. (good but it would be nice if there were some indication that it were currently being traded, maybe a color change, rather than having it vanish from the list) It stays on the list of things that are trade goods for other races (good) It reappears in the list of things that

At times, for no apparent reason all game sound will stop, effects, music, everything. If I save, exit the game, restart GalCiv and reload the game everything is fine.
The battleships thinking they are freighters problem may have been solved but I just restored from a saved game (Beta 2) in which I was at peace with all races and had warm relations with the Yor before the save. After loading the saved game one of the Yor defenders (which happened to be parked next to a system I just traded for from the Yor) attacked the planet in the first turn after the save was loaded.
It doesn't seem to matter. The same problem occurs no matter what the special, at least so far. It has happened with the following specials: research01.event production01.event shipbonus01.event
Multiple pop-ups. Different races each time except once the same race announced it's surrender twice, a few turns apart.
When I trade another race for one of their planets what happnens at the end of a turn is that the display focus bounces from planet to planet that I just picked up. It doesn't stop at a planet it just bounces from one to another before finally stopping at a ship that is waiting to move. This may be tied to the races ships that are now parked next to the system that I now own (that were previously in orbit around the planet). This didn't happen in Beta 1. Is there any
I'm about 150 turns in on my first game with Beta 2 and over the past 20 turns I've had 8 pop-ups that have stated something along the lines of: "We can't survive in this cruel galaxy and have decided to surrender ourselves to If the racial picture is any indication as this game has had the same race surrender to more than one other race. I can't tell what the the diplomacy screen looks like as a result because I haven't met any other races. It does seem od

This problem didn't occur in Beta 1 and doesn't occur in Beta 2 when there isn't a special associated with the planet.
Had a crash to the desktop, with no warning, about 20 turns into a new game. SmartException caught nothing and there was nothing in the debug.err file. The only odd things I've noticed so far with Beta 2 are: 1. After a colony ship arrived in a system and I selected a planet for colonization it took almost a minute before the planet screen came up (I could hear the hard drive being accessed in the background). 2. Same planet had one of the "specials", in this c
The forum has been might quiet the last day or so. Is this the calm before the storm? When might we expect the next beta build to be available? Thanks Magus
Revert to Dictatorship :d
DaveO, I didn't know that, obviously ;) . It never occured to me to try whacking on the round button between the arrows. If that's the case that's a very elegant and straightforward solution to an potentially difficult interface design problem. The is a classic example of something that would have been in the docs if such docs existed. I wonder how many other little touches like this are present that most people haven't yet discovered. Thanks Magus
This concerns the space "debris" that add to ship HP, Attack, and Defense when a survey ship investigates them. In the game I just played every single one has been and adder to attack value. It seems that the "random" generation of these items is _way_ out of whack. I can't believe that of 57 artifacts, yes I counted, :) they have all been adders to attack. Not a single adder for either HP or defense. I commented on this once before, where in the entire game, in a gi
I just noticed this, perhaps this behavior is by design but if so it's counter-intuitive. Start of game, Sol system is the only colonized system. Two class 20 planets in Sol system with no nearby decent planets so the first colony ship is used to colonize the second planet in Sol system. When setting production on the first planet I used the left / right "arrows" on the production screen to, I thought, move to the "next planet". It didn't work. Those left / ri
Okay....I just tried to resubmit when I got home this evening and it seems to have shown up this time. Puzzling.
I tried submitting a score to the metaverse last night and while I'm registered and didn't receive any error messages during the submittal process my score has yet to appear on the list. :sniff!:
Yeppers. It would definitely be nice if that information was part of the display on the economy screen.
This might also tie in with experience levels on a ship not being restored correctly after a save.
The battlecruisers thinking they were freighters would certainly explain the problem but it is still happening with the released version of beta 1z.
I played a game last night when the sound kept quitting on me so when the sound failed I would save the game, exit GalCiv and restart Galciv and reload the saved game. Without fail, everytime I reloaded the game from the save, there would be the sound of a ship attacking something and a quick check of the diplomacy screen would show that the Altarians would have an "at war" status to me. Prior to the saves they were at peace. Strange Magus
Not here :( I have version 0.90 running but it hasn't actually "caught" a crash. The only good thing about this version is that it's the first iteration of SmartException that hasn't resulted in either startup or shutdown problems for my Windows 2000 system. Cheers Magus
I've only managed to complete one game that would have been worth submitting to the metaverse (and I was off-line and out of reach of an internet connection at the time) :) The rest of the games I've started have either crashed or have been used as experimental platforms to try out various strategies and game functionality. Cheers Magus
'twasn't me that had this problem. Magus
The title of the message was: "Massive debug.err file" posted by Citizen Landwaster.
Nope. In 1Z if you snarf the last of a race's planets all of their ships go dead in space. Let's use what happed to Sol system as an example: one turn it was under my control with half a dozen of my ships in orbit around the system. Next turn the planet becomes owned by the Drengin and all my ships that were in orbit pop up on the galactic map right next to the planet. There was no combat that took place and no diplomatic action that resulted in the transfer. In
