Is this like the game of the liar and the truth-teller, where you have to figure out which one's which? :) A wise person once said that the best way to mediate a deal is to come up with an arrangement that leaves both sides unhappy. With that in mind, I suggest that you both disband your empires and join the posse. No? Damn, it was worth a shot at least... Oh, and Wombat - your wife's sitting in that corner with a staple gun, waiting for your glasses to "fall off

Lust For Power The Retox descended rapidly through the Earth's atmosphere. "Captain, I have a signal closing on the whales. Bearing 328 degrees." said helmsman Hurley. "On screen." replied Quack. A wet-navy ship was visible on the screen, just behind the whales. "What kind of ship is that?" asked Killa. "A whaling ship, Doctor." "Estimate range, ship to whales!" "Sir... Estimating one nautical mile." "Oh my God, we're too late!"

ROFL, I was trying to think how to tie my last story into these chapters, but I just couldn't stop laughing...
After he had chucked behind the potted plant (and quite surprised the Spymaster who had been lurking there) the duck had become the life of the party.
It's funny cause it's true LOL
I have already prepared notes concerning moves that a duck and a woman might make. I would rather not write such fiction.
Well, you can't st

Unfortunately, I can't play favourites. GROSS is an Equal Opportunity Plunderer, and all targets are fair game. If you feel you've been hit too much (or not enough), feel free to contact your local GROSS representative. If you want a treaty, you ought to speak to my boss. I only handle gambling and entertainment. :)

I wasn't thinking about any serious suggestions, but now that you mention some... How about coalitions for government? Nothing you can choose, but each party could decide to support you based on how you fit in with their philosophy. e.g. if you've got 35% of the vote, peace party's got 40% and the war party's got 25%, but the warries are happy with the amount of war you're waging, you get to keep government. Of course, this could kick you out of government as well. Let's say yo

The Pirates Of The South Seas stand ready to supply you with whatever booze, drugs, and porn you need to ensure your state of pleasure is maintained. Order with a credit card and get 10% off your first shipment! Sorry, it's a bit hard to see much of the logo when it's shrunk down like it is here - it looks fine on the empire-page, but. Maybe you could make the red and green lines on the stars a bit thicker? [Btw, Bloodnut sends his regards. He's flattered you reme

The results of the election are in, and your party has lost control. Bitter, but resigned to your fate, you step back from power, and watch as a new ruler takes charge of the empire you have built from the ground up. You live out the rest of your days as a political commentator on the Galactic News Network, wishing that you had never switched from an imperial form of government. GAME OVER: POLITICAL DEFEAT :SURPRISED: Is that relevant enough? If that's too h

One of the Sectoid prank-monkeys slapped the other one on the head. "You see? I told you it was the other arm! You should have looked at a photo before the surgery, at least!" The second Sectoid grabbed a hacksaw. "Look, it's easy enough to fix. You worry too much. At this rate, you'll have an ulcer by the time you're thirty." --- Blue_Steel stayed in the shadows as the Aussie diggers marched past. His contact should arrive in a few minutes, and hopef

Do people still talk about the GCCG? Hell yeah, I'm thinking of a way to work the ancient artifact known as The Crank into my next pirate story!
We have made several walk the plank. However, it was complained to be in our meta stories as "Generic" We promptly made him walk the plank in our next story. Besides, Keelhauling is more torturous and fun. Imperial Cloning Facility "Me, Myself and I" Deep in GROSS space The pirate officer marched past the guards, and into the high-security room. Inside, a vat with a single occupant was mounted on the wall. The officer nodded at a technician, and the technician threw a switch. The front window of the vat slowly opened, to reveal a human figure propped up inside, with his eyes closed. The officer leaned over the figure. "Who are you?" No response. "Wh

Us pirates can already cruise the high seas, sunbaking all day, and getting the best beers the world has to offer. What can you ANZACs offer that we can't? :D Though I've gotta admit, a voyage against the Euros does sound mighty tempting... we'll go cheer you on, then we'll plunder whoever's left standing! ARR! Hey, Jaws! Welcome back to Sydney Harbour! Pontius - would a romance novel look good if it had "From the producers of 'Arwan Does Riverdell' and 'Wet Wookies'" written at the bottom? No? It wouldn't? (:( Hehe, I'm working on my next chapter myself - no romance in it, but I'm keen to see where killa can work some romance into the plot. I'll post a bit more of habib's amateur porn while we're waiting to get yous fired up..
It was marketed that they would react just like a normal empire would to a given situation. Would a normal empire refuse 80 bc in exchange for 10? Well they might if they just hated humans that much. But in that case, they'd just refuse to trade or speak with em at all.
If they hated humans a lot, it might encourage them to take the deal, since it damages the human's economy to the tune of 70 bcs. :) Killa - my story was disturbing? Hehe, I only mentioned roads, farms, and mines, cause I got sick of managing terraforming in other games, and I don't want this to turn into a "upgrade all the city squares" kinda game. :) But now that I think about it, some sort of road thing might be a good idea. Instead of a +speed bonus that covers a whole region, a stronger +speed bonus that follows a straight line would certainly be possible. Maybe have a new starbase module that links to a specific starbase somewhere el

Well, I'm hosting the comic already, I'd have room for some stories - it'd be easy to just copy-paste the story parts from threads onto an html page. The authors could even add a few comments or hyperlinks about the other threads they were referring to, cause right now we've got about ten threads prodding each other in strange new directions.

Oh, and about 3D - a 3D engine would look great, but I think making a fully 3D universe would get messy. If you're after the eye-candy factor, how about have 3D models (still on a flat map, though), that "leap off the page" and go fully 3D when they're fighting each other? Think BattleChess. You can get pretty fights that make great screenshots, and still have the actual strategy take place at a 2D level.
