Christopher (Grog), The other three "bugs" are the way it is supposed to work. 2). Only Survey ships are allowed to investigate anomalies. Some other ships might benefit from the ship upgrades but others (colony ships and transports) would not. 3). Did you read the text for the research event? That is exactly as the event described it (there was once a race called the "Precursors" that left bits of technology floating around). 4). You only get two trade routes to start. Y

Could someone please give me a quick explanation of these three columns in the description of the current trade routes: "Est.", "Turns", and "Value"? I would like to know so that I can see if there is anything there to test. The "Est." column always has "N/A" and after a route is establised the other colunns have two numbers separated by a "/". Cheers, Jack
".... you can replace the current mp3's with ..." --- Not really. Renaming and moving files around can turn out kinda messy. I am hoping for a browse and select type of thing. Restricting them to MP3's is understandable. Cheers, Jack
So that's what is going on. I have noticed that if I investigate a research anomaly that the tech is finished that turn but I don't get the CNN for it until the next turn (and I get one turn's credit for another tech). Cheers, Jack
Ian, That is what I have been doing and I find these methods cumbersum. To achieve the goals Brad has stated for GalCiv I think this is a playability issue that needs to be addressed. Cheers, Jack
When you get around to working on the music, would it be possible to allow us to point the game at a music file we want it to play (only for the background)? Cheers, Jack
Alex, Unfortunately many game producers fail to give their game the kind of testing GalCiv is getting. As far as neverwinternights goes, I think I will wait for a few months before buying it. Perhaps they will have fixed enough of their errors that the game might be worth playing. Cheers, Jack
Cari, I would recommend running text throught the spell checker a couple of months before the game is released and let us know it was done. That way we can check for errors that the spell checker can't find (such as contextual errors - to verses too verses two, for example). Cheers, Jack
What I mean is, it would be nice to have a way of canceling the action from this panel, sort of a "forget about asking for money or influence" button or "close this window" button. Cheers, Jack
Cari, The advisor never changes his (her?) text even when contact with all other races has been made. Perhaps this is just a place holder (other than before contact with at least one race) for the time being? Cheers, Jack
By the way, the one who develops the most recreatable picture gets the kudos. Cheers, Jack
I thought I was getting a pattern to the dissappearances but then disproved my theory. Just in case I was on to something but didn't have a complete picture of what was going on, here is what I was beginning to suspect: It looked to me like they dissappeared if I had investigated a research anomaly and had last moved the list down so that the top of the list was off the research screen. I was unable to recreate this sufficiently to verify my theory, however, so more work has to be done to develo
Magus, Actually, this sounds like some of the "spin doctoring" we see in the real live world we live in. Cheers, Jack
Jaggy, The crash you described sounds like you are running into the same problem I am. Check your trade routes each turn after starting the "advanced trade" tech. After each turn before the crash do you have one more allowable route? Does the crash happen after you have 10 allowable routes? These are the symptoms a few of us have seen and reported (although you can't be blamed for not knowing it was reported because the person who originally reported it did not put it into a separate thread
The galaxy sizes in build Beta 1 deviates from that stated in file "english.str" in only the small, medium, and large galaxies. I think someone missed something somewhere. The sizes in the file have a nice progression to them but the sizes we accually have does not. Here is what is current in the first Beta for galaxy sizes compared to the listed sizes: Size name English.str Beta 1 Tiny 3x3 3x3 Small 5x5 4x4 Medium
It looks to me like I am also getting this problem, but I have not played enough games to establish a pattern or to spot any particular tech as the trigger. Cheers, Jack
Jorgen, GalCiv has a whole bunch of modifiables. The key to keeping the playing field level is the Metaverse and its library. As you learn more about the Metaverse you will understand the concern about the need for keeping a balance. Being a competative lot, we like to see other people's scores and try to get better scores. If there was no control over some of the modifiables then we would end up competing to see who could come up with the most drastic modifications instead o
Manuvering through the aftermath of a space battle. Lots of broken ships and pieces of ships, with the view moving forward and around them. Cheers, Jack
So what tech gives the "star republic"? Cheers, Jack
The sub-window that has the fill in fields for how much money I want and for how many months also shows how much money the enemy has available. If they have so little that I don't think it is worth my while to demand anything, how do I cancel the sub-window? Cheers, Jack
Not that I am complaining, I like getting more for less. Cheers, Jack
When building a list of social projects for the governers you go to the governer window and select them from the top list to be added to the bottom list (by governer name). But you have to alternate between a single click and a double click to get it to work (this may be only if you are just working straight down the list). It confused the heck out of me. It took a long time for me to figure out why it was moving two projects with only a double click. Cheers, Jack
The sound controls on the options window can be switched on or off, but the slide bars seem to be unaffective. Is the code ready for them? Cheers, Jack
The display options "ship animations" and "space animations" can not be turned on and "explosions" can not be turned off. Cheers, Jack
I researched "Star Democracy", then changed my government to it, but nothing seemed to happen. Also, did I miss something? When I looked at the government window I saw three government types, not two. The extra one was (I think) "Star Republic". Cheers, Jack
